Fonte de regaz returns[edit]

See Wikipedia:Sockpuppet investigations/Fonte de regaz, and repeated vandalism on the page and elsewhere. Can you pull their plugs while the investigation is going on? Thanks. - BilCat (talk) 08:46, 10 October 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Fleet Gallery Policy[edit]

Hi there! Just wanted to clarify why China Airlines is the only airline page, or one of the very few pages, to have the fleet gallery section removed. As far as I am concerned, pages for most major airlines still have the fleet gallery section. Shouldn't there be a consistency in policy? Thank you! — Preceding unsigned comment added by Kaichinshih (talkcontribs) 19:41, 14 October 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Most have only recently been added and it takes time to remove them all, thanks for your interest. MilborneOne (talk) 21:51, 14 October 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Vampire variants[edit]

Morning MilborneOne, I've just reread your comment on the DH100 and DH115 on the Project page. Seems a typo crept in, as DH113 was the Vampire NF, not Venom (DH112). Cheers,TSRL (talk) 10:41, 16 October 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Yes, sorry you are right. MilborneOne (talk) 14:21, 16 October 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Air Pegasus[edit]

Hello, would you mind telling me where you found that the call sign for Air Pegasus is "PEGASUS"? I would like to find a source for this information for other airline articles. Thanks — Sunnya343✈ (háblamemy work) 17:14, 17 October 2016 (UTC)[reply]

User:Sunnya343 - If you search for "FAA Contractions" or "JO 7340.2E" you will find the American FAA document that list all the codes and callsigns. Its about six-months behind but is a reliable source for wikipedia. MilborneOne (talk) 17:19, 17 October 2016 (UTC)[reply]
Oh ok thanks! I have always been looking for a source for ICAO codes. — Sunnya343✈ (háblamemy work) 18:36, 17 October 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Super King Air accidents[edit]

The edit you reverted (this one [1] ) was indeed a copy and paste, from the lead of 2004 Hendrick Motorsports aircraft crash. As the accident is notable enough for its own article, I'm going to re-add it to the Super King Air article. Sario528 (talk) 20:28, 17 October 2016 (UTC)[reply]

I agree. I assume you'll also cite the sources directly, and link to the crash article? - BilCat (talk) 20:33, 17 October 2016 (UTC)[reply]
Oops, linking to the article should suffice in place of sources in this type of section, unless some extraordinary claim is made. - BilCat (talk) 20:39, 17 October 2016 (UTC)[reply]
Done I tried to keep the entry succinct, and linked over to the main article. Sario528 (talk) 20:44, 17 October 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Rewrite Request[edit]

Hi MilborneOne, you conducted a rewrite of this page some years ago -I have submitted an update for review by an administrator and wondered if you'd be so kind as to assist. Talk:VistaJet#Rewrite_Request I'd appreciate if you'd point me in the right direction if this isn't convenient. RnK13 (talk) 10:00, 18 October 2016 (UTC)[reply]

If I get time I will have a look, it needs some work as the new material still has a some marketing talk in it. MilborneOne (talk) 17:03, 18 October 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Request for placing explanation of edit block on Boeing C-17 Globemaster III article[edit]

Hi Milbourne,

I was just at the Boeing C-17 Globemaster III article, where you recently "edit protected" that page due to a certain edit war that was apparently going on there. It took me some time to realize why I couldn't edit there, as there was no "edit protection template" displaying anywhere on that article, explaining this "edit protection," its duration, or its rationalle. Isn't there some sort of a template notice that is normally placed on such a page when such an edit lock has been made? Never seen this before here. Thanks, Scott P. (talk) 18:20, 23 October 2016 (UTC)[reply]

The edit protected icon is normally added to the page by a bot so I dont known why it didnt, the block has expired now but the related edits that lead to the block could be seen in the history. MilborneOne (talk) 16:09, 24 October 2016 (UTC)[reply]

User talk:Rengab[edit]

See User talk:Rengab#Draft:Vulcanair Mission, which should explain the issue. Also, I forgot to tick "no redirect" when I moved the article to Draftspace, and have tagged it for CSD. Could you check to see if Vulcanair Mission has been deleted yet? Thanks. - BilCat (talk) 08:14, 26 October 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks. I don't know if the user intends to finish the draft, or even if it should become a mainspace article. There isn't much on the web about it, but it's more than some of our never-produced aircraft articles have. - BilCat (talk) 08:59, 26 October 2016 (UTC)[reply]
BilCat - Had a tidy up and moved it back as a stub - still needs more work. MilborneOne (talk) 10:01, 26 October 2016 (UTC)[reply]
OK, thanks. I didn't have time to do a rewrite myself, or I would have done that instead of putting it in draftspace. I'll take a crack at doing more work on it later today/tonight. The source you added should be sufficient to let the article survive an AFD. Thanks again. - BilCat (talk) 11:20, 26 October 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Hello MilborneOne,

Could you take a quick look into this user's edits? They are constantly adding codeshare routes for American Airlines into destination tables across several airport articles, and then proceeding to use American Airlines' booking engine as a source. Obviously, adding codeshare routes is not allowed per WP:AIRPORT-CONTENT; as I had given them a bold, but not overly harsh warning (I was using a different IP address at the time) and they have since continued this behavior after being warned. They were also warned twice by HkCaGu as well. If you could keep an eye on this user and/or block them, that would be greatly appreciated. Thanks. 172.56.38.167 (talk) 04:44, 29 October 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Left them a message to make sure they understand they will be blocked next time. MilborneOne (talk) 08:59, 29 October 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Boeing 777X move[edit]

See WP:RPP#Boeing 777X. The same user moved it in September also. Thanks. - BilCat (talk) 12:44, 30 October 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Interview invitation from a Wikipedia researcher in University of Minnesota[edit]

Hello MilborneOne,

I am Bowen Yu, a Ph.D. student from GroupLens Research at the University of Minnesota - Twin Cities. Currently, we are undertaking a study about turnover (editors leaving and joining) in WikiProjects within Wikipedia. We are trying to understand the effects of member turnovers in the WikiProject group, in terms of the group performance and member interaction, with a purpose of learning how to build successful online communities in future. More details about our project can be found on this meta-wiki page.

I would like to invite you for an interview if you are interested in our study and willing to share your experience with us. The interview will be about 30 - 45 minutes via either Skype or Google Hangout. You will receive a $10 gift card as compensation afterwards.

Please reach me at bowen@cs.umn.edu if you are interested or have any questions.

Thank you,

Bowen

Hunter Marine sailboats[edit]

Hi Michael: I have been working on some sailboat class articles recently and have created many new articles. I just tried to start three new boat articles and discovered that they are blacklisted for some unstated reason. The note on the pages said any admin can create them. Any idea what the history is here and can you create the pages, so I can write the articles?

- Ahunt (talk) 19:20, 1 November 2016 (UTC)[reply]

  • Ahunt - They match a pattern that has been used for page move or other vandalism in the past, do you have something I can use like a draft that can be used so I dont create blank pages! MilborneOne (talk) 20:18, 1 November 2016 (UTC)[reply]
Ah, okay, I'll write them in sandbox space then and drop you a note when they are done and you can move them. I have refs and photos for all three. - Ahunt (talk) 20:20, 1 November 2016 (UTC)[reply]
All ready to move now:
Thanks for your help with all this. - Ahunt (talk) 01:15, 2 November 2016 (UTC)[reply]

 Done MilborneOne (talk) 15:26, 2 November 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Thank you so much! Those are all the Hunter Marine boat articles I have planned for now, so hopefully I won't have to impose on you again too soon! - Ahunt (talk) 15:33, 2 November 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Hello MilborneOne. Can you please take a look at the article? An IP keeps adding unsourced information and registered user support it by accepting the pending changes, even when no inline citations were added. Thanks.--Jetstreamer Talk 17:03, 7 November 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Understood it now has a ref improved tag on it but the IP clearly has the source so should add the relevant citations at least at paragraph level. Perhaps we need to see if the IP comes back and adds the required citations if not after a reasonable time all the unsourced stuff could be removed. MilborneOne (talk) 17:20, 7 November 2016 (UTC)[reply]
Forgive me for butting in here. I was the ed who accepted the edit the first time, and I added the refimprove. As far as I can tell, the source used by the IP was the actual report, which is linked to in External links. Yes, it's a primary, so if an editor can find a secondary, that would improve things. ... richi (hello) 18:20, 7 November 2016 (UTC)[reply]
Thanks User:richi I appreciate he may have used the actual report but it is not clear without adding some online citations, anybody reading the article would not know where the information came from. They list the report page numbers in the edit summary so it wouldnt take them much to just add that to the text. I have left a note on the users page and if they dont know how they can ask at the article talk page for help. MilborneOne (talk) 18:27, 7 November 2016 (UTC)[reply]
I'd do it myself, except my Spanish isn't good enough. But I believe User:Jetstreamer speaks Spanish, so perhaps that editor could help V the three page numbers given by the IP? ... richi (hello) 18:46, 7 November 2016 (UTC)[reply]
Let me see what I can do regarding the introduced text. Honestly, what really bothers me is the addition of text with nothing more than a brief edit summary from which one is supposed to guess where it is coming from. I believe anyone editing Wikipedia should be aware of WP:BURDEN.--Jetstreamer Talk 19:46, 7 November 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Two-Factor Authentication now available for admins[edit]

Hello,

Please note that TOTP based two-factor authentication is now available for all administrators. In light of the recent compromised accounts, you are encouraged to add this additional layer of security to your account. It may be enabled on your preferences page in the "User profile" tab under the "Basic information" section. For basic instructions on how to enable two-factor authentication, please see the developing help page for additional information. Important: Be sure to record the two-factor authentication key and the single use keys. If you lose your two factor authentication and do not have the keys, it's possible that your account will not be recoverable. Furthermore, you are encouraged to utilize a unique password and two-factor authentication for the email account associated with your Wikimedia account. This measure will assist in safeguarding your account from malicious password resets. Comments, questions, and concerns may be directed to the thread on the administrators' noticeboard. Memory test[edit]

Hi. I was wondering if you recall your source(s) for this edit to Walter Baxter. It was from April 2015, so I certainly understand if you don't remember. When I wrote the article, I consulted every possible online source I could find, and I never came across any of what you added. I couldn't even find his exact date of birth. Thanks for adding the information, and I'm very curious where you managed to find it, MANdARAX  XAЯAbИAM 08:35, 14 November 2016 (UTC)[reply]

User:Mandarax I probably got it from the General Register Office Death Index which gives his date of birth (Walter Baxter died 1994 Q3 in Marlborough death registered in July 1994 and date of birth given as 17 May 1915) MilborneOne (talk) 17:35, 14 November 2016 (UTC)[reply]

A new user right for New Page Patrollers[edit]

Hi MilborneOne.

A new user group, New Page Reviewer, has been created in a move to greatly improve the standard of new page patrolling. The user right can be granted by any admin at PERM. It is highly recommended that admins look beyond the simple numerical threshold and satisfy themselves that the candidates have the required skills of communication and an advanced knowledge of notability and deletion. Admins are automatically included in this user right.

It is anticipated that this user right will significantly reduce the work load of admins who patrol the performance of the patrollers. However, due to the complexity of the rollout, some rights may have been accorded that may later need to be withdrawn, so some help will still be needed to some extent when discovering wrongly applied deletion tags or inappropriate pages that escape the attention of less experienced reviewers, and above all, hasty and bitey tagging for maintenance. User warnings are available here but very often a friendly custom message works best.

If you have any questions about this user right, don't hesitate to join us at WT:NPR. (Sent to all admins).MediaWiki message delivery (talk) 13:47, 15 November 2016 (UTC)[reply]

FYI[edit]

Hello, this is just to let you know that I had to undo your edit here: https://en.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=Air_transports_of_heads_of_state_and_government&diff=prev&oldid=750243006 I'm Romanian and I follow this subject, and as said, with all due respect, your edit was unsourced, and I know from the Romanian press that there is no such thing as an "official" / "presidential" aircraft. The prime-minister one year ago leased a private aircraft, but more recently he flew Tarom regular flights (even Ryanair) in normal class. Since Tarom recently retired the last two Airbus A310, this is indeed extremely problematic. Thanks! --Vlad|-> 15:58, 18 November 2016 (UTC)[reply]

ArbCom Elections 2016: Voting now open![edit]

Hello, MilborneOne. Voting in the 2016 Arbitration Committee elections is open from Monday, 00:00, 21 November through Sunday, 23:59, 4 December to all unblocked users who have registered an account before Wednesday, 00:00, 28 October 2016 and have made at least 150 mainspace edits before Sunday, 00:00, 1 November 2016.

The Arbitration Committee is the panel of editors responsible for conducting the Wikipedia arbitration process. It has the authority to impose binding solutions to disputes between editors, primarily for serious conduct disputes the community has been unable to resolve. This includes the authority to impose site bans, topic bans, editing restrictions, and other measures needed to maintain our editing environment. The arbitration policy describes the Committee's roles and responsibilities in greater detail.

If you wish to participate in the 2016 election, please review the candidates' statements and submit your choices on the voting page. MediaWiki message delivery (talk) 22:08, 21 November 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Equipment of Singapore vandalism[edit]

Milb1, multiple IPs, presumably the same person, have been vandalizing these articles by adding fictional/hoaxish equipment: Equipment of the Republic of Singapore Air Force, Equipment of the Republic of Singapore Navy, and Equipment of the Singaporean Army. User:Theeasytarget and their comments while blocked[edit]

MilborneOne, don't you think this [3] behaviour deserves an extension of the block? The user is blatantly sayig they will keep warring and disrupting Wikipedia after the block is over.--Jetstreamer Talk 15:59, 30 December 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Yes you are right as it is becoming clear that the user is not here to build an encyclopedia, I will have a look at extending the block. MilborneOne (talk) 16:46, 30 December 2016 (UTC)[reply]
Indefinite not hear to build an encyclopedia block, clearly with the latest comments on the talk page the user does not want to discuss the issues but continues to call for disruption, they can appeal if they have a change of heart. Shame really all they needed to do is start a polite discussion on the Iran Air talk page and work through the issues with other editors. MilborneOne (talk) 16:58, 30 December 2016 (UTC)[reply]
