Sailing at the ... Summer Olympics

Chris,

Thanks for awarding the barnstar to me. Unfortunitely part of the work is destructed by removing most of the images for, I think, not the right reasons.

Regards

1968 Summer Olympics

First of all, thanks for working on this page! I took a look at it and most of what I know off the top of my head is already in Spanish in your article. The Spanish language article may have some of the names youre looking for... http://es.wikipedia.org/wiki/Juegos_Ol%C3%ADmpicos_de_M%C3%A9xico_1968 Its a list somewhat down the page. I have one small piece of advice. There should be more citations in the article, especially the highlights section. Ill see what elseI can dig up in Spanish from my usual sources of info.Thelmadatter (talk) 13:15, 18 August 2010 (UTC)

DYK nomination of Jessica Fox (canoeist)

Hello! Your submission of Jessica Fox (canoeist) at the Did You Know nominations page has been reviewed, and there still are some issues that may need to be clarified. Please review the comment(s) underneath your nomination's entry and respond there as soon as possible. Thank you for contributing to Did You Know! Strange Passerby (talk) 11:18, 13 September 2010 (UTC)

Hey there. Nice article, but way too stubby. Needs at least 1,500 characters of readable prose (minus infobox, inline cites, headings) to pass for DYK. Other Summer Youth Olympics medallists (Alexia Sedykh, Michael Hixon, Aaron Barclay) have enough information out there for longer articles even though they aren't professional yet, so I'd assume as Fox has already represented her country at senior international competition, there should be more than enough to expand her article. Regards, Strange Passerby (talk) 11:23, 13 September 2010 (UTC)
Withdrawn. Chris (talk) 12:34, 13 September 2010 (UTC)
Hope I haven't discouraged you or anything, I personally believe all the Youth Olympics medallists have enough out there to justify and sustain longer-than-stub-length articles (a little plug here, but I wrote all three examples I gave above). If you could get it up to above 1,500 characters before the 18th, please do re-list it at DYK. I'd be happy to pass it. Cheers, Strange Passerby (talk) 12:51, 13 September 2010 (UTC)
Thank you, but I think it would be in everyone's best interests if this was withdrawn. Chris (talk) 12:56, 13 September 2010 (UTC)

Edwin Newman

The Reuters article clearly states that "Newman died peacefully of pneumonia in Oxford, England last month, his lawyer Rupert Mead told Reuters. His wife and daughter wanted to wait before announcing his death to come to terms with the loss." "He died on Aug 13.".[1] Also see [2] BurienBomber (talk) 19:54, 15 September 2010 (UTC)

NYT said it was September 13. Chris (talk) 20:32, 15 September 2010 (UTC)

Re: Peer review updates on WSC

Hi Chris. Sorry for not getting back to the peer review, but I am having problems with my home PC's hard drives (aside from being busy with my preparations for my own article for FAC and such). Generally, I believe we have resolved most of my issues with Whistler, but I think it is evident that is only one person's (my) view. I believe what would withhold me from supporting are prose and what I think are still excessive details, but that said, I doubt I would oppose it at FAC. I advise getting an independent copy-editor (and another reviewer, who is not a snow sports fan, if you would like to seek another outside opinion). Jappalang (talk) 02:43, 20 September 2010 (UTC)
