Mindspillage is/isn't a Playa[edit]

Playa: a dry, dusty, sandy, barren level plain, sometimes an alkalai flat, containing extremely flat, smooth and hard surfaces, often composed of fine grained sediments.

Is

  • Wit is dry
  • Has a level head
  • Can be hard (ass) when she needs to be
  • Can be smooth (talker) when she needs to be
  • seems to like some composers

Isn't

  • Name isn't Sandy... (or so she says...)
  • Pics reveal she is anything but "plain".
  • or "flat".. although she's been known to B-flat on occasion.
  • does not like wikilawyering so decisions do not usually turn on fine grained points.

Jury's still out

  • Barren...
  • Sedimental

I got nuthin...

  • Alkalai

Hope that helps. ++Lar: t/c 01:07, 4 April 2006 (UTC) (anything for an elaborate continuation of a perhaps not very good pun)[reply]

You have just earned my eternal and undying admiration for good humour, Lar. —Nightstallion (?) Seen this already? 15:37, 4 April 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Perhaps I can help you out...
Barren: planning on it, as it happens.
Sedimental: Oh, your call; I'm not particular.
Alkaline: Well, my motivations are pretty basic, and I have been known to have a rather caustic tongue on occasion... Mindspillage (spill yours?) 08:14, 5 April 2006 (UTC)[reply]
  • Point of order! Mindspillage is not a "playa", she is the "mistress of debauchery"! :-D Essjay TalkContact 09:05, 5 April 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Thank you[edit]

Thank you for your vote of confidence in my recent request for bureaucratship. Even though it didn't pass, I greatly appreciate your support and hope I will continue to have your respect. Thank you! Flcelloguy (A note?) 22:49, 2 April 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Administrator situation[edit]

Hi Mindspillage. I'm in a potentially awkward position with an Administrator. I have read the Wiki pages on dispute resolution but I'm still not sure how to proceed.

The Admin seems to be editing under some distress in a number of unrelated articles. I have no interest in most of the articles and only one of the comments is directed at me.

  • James, I can only assume you are very young, because this level of immaturity is extremely unusual, and you have no idea how tiresome.
  • Then quit behaving like someone who's going through the terrible twos and needs to be put in the time-out chair.
  • I'll read that if you read all our other editing policies and start editing in accordance with them.
  • edit summary comment: (rv stop your incessant POV pushing; the revert has been explained on talk)
  • edit summary comment: (right, campaigns strongly for the right of animals to donate their skins to her)
  • edit summary comment: (rv the burden of evidence is on you, and if she's an animal-rights activist, I'm the King of France)
  • You're very close to being blocked indefinitely if you don't quit your personal attacks, snide remarks, bad editing, reverting, and whining. We've had enough.
  • It doesn't surprise me because it's what all the trolls and trouble-makers do, but I'm disappointed to see it anyway. I can only repeat my requests once more: please stop attacking and bullying people, stop pretending to be an admin, stop threatening to block or have blocked anyone who disagrees with you.

These outbursts seem to be increasing. The arbcom committee ruled against the person for making personal attacks some time ago.

I feel this creates a partly hostile editing environment. If you disagree with me and feel the quotes are appropriate, I will defer to you.

If you don't feel comfortable addressing the matter, please refer me to another senior admin.

Thank you. --Cyberboomer 00:38, 4 April 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Just feel glad that the admin has not banned you--that's a very good sign. Maybe they're stressed. If they were really after you they would block you without any communication or warning -- and to make sure nobody questions the block they would say something like "sockpuppet", which nobody questions. IMHO the admin is just stressed / insane from personal problems. DyslexicEditor 07:31, 6 April 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks for the note, I looked for a bit and only found vandals, not worth blocking valid editors though, I support the talk about half-blocks, where you can only block anons from the ip, maybe it will go live one day! — xaosflux Talk 02:49, 7 April 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Mail![edit]

Hi Mindspillage,

Wow! I got mail from info-en?? [1] - Actually, I wasn't aware the user tried to e-mail me through that function. The user is this person and probably one of the more severe cases of newcomer biting I've seen in a while. --HappyCamper 15:08, 8 April 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Re:Arbcom[edit]

Thanks for noting my status. I'm actually taking a general wikibreak for a bit. I though it was advisable due to some of the recent conflicts. I'm also trying to get this guy elected mayor, which is temporarily taking up a great deal of my time. - SimonP 17:00, 9 April 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Administrator Situation (my own)[edit]

Hi, like the other person, I'm in a potentially awkward position with an Administrator. I, also, have read the Wiki pages on dispute resolution but I'm still not sure how to proceed.

The Admin ContiE has a personal grudge against me for reasons I do not fully understand. He has been this way since I began frequenting wikipedia.

I have done work improving the furvert article. He has basically gone on a crusade against any edit I make. He controls every furry category article and several others ruthlessly. He is an iron fist and bans anyone he edit wars with. I had uploaded pictures and he deleted them with no talking. He seems to believe I am every person he has had an edit war against. He is always using personal attacks, calling me troll without reason. I uploaded them again and he voted them for deleted, but to his surprise the person who runs the images, thank you Nv8200p, found they were acceptable once I tagged them properly. Just recently he removed both the images without himself discussing it in the talk page (unless he was the same person who discussed only one) with the edit here [2] Then ContiE assumed bad faith, added his constant insult of troll in the talk page. It appears on a completed different wiki, a comedy one in all things, somebody else stole my username and I believe this was Conti himself and uploaded them. ContiE showed it as his reason. While vandalism like his, I would revert and mention it, he would ban me permanently if I undid his edit. That is why I am asking admins for help. He holds a couple of accounts on wikipedia and I think they are administrators so I have to be careful who I tell about this. Arights 05:35, 10 April 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Wikipedia CDROM[edit]

closing the zarove case[edit]

Hi, would you close the RfArb against Zarove? He's on a revert rampage in Acharya S, having violated 3RR or gamed 3RR (by reverting right after 24 hours several minutes following his first edits). His total reverts in the last 3/4 days seem to be 10 or so. Thanks. --Ragib 22:56, 13 April 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Can you make a recording?[edit]

Dear Mindspillage,

Would you still have things conveniently set up to make multi-voice bassoon recordings? If so, it seems to me that a recording of the following stirring passage by Beethoven:

might be useful as a sound file illustration in Symphony No. 5 (Beethoven). The article currently includes a discussion of whether this passage should be played by the bassoons (as Beethoven wrote it), or instead by the horns (as many conductors rearrange it). A carefully-done bassoon recording might show that Beethoven's original scoring is perhaps not so absurd ...

If you're too busy of course I'll understand, but given how nicely the Josquin recording came out I thought it would be worth asking you.

Yours very truly,
Opus33 17:06, 16 April 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks, Mindspillage, that would be great. Opus33 19:25, 18 April 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Image tagging[edit]

Greetings! Just wanted to ask you to please be more careful with your image tagging: there's no way that Image:Monopoly card game.jpg is GFDL, as you've tagged it, for example. (Actually, in general, it's best not to tag anything at all GFDL-presumed if you can contact the copyright holder or the uploader to clear it up; it's shaky ground to tag anything as GFDL-presumed when you're not reasonably sure, as a lot of people don't realize the difference between "permission to use" and "permission to release under GFDL", but that one is definitely a commerical image and I don't think they have released the rights. :-)) Thanks, Mindspillage (spill yours?) 03:53, 26 April 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Haha, yikes, I can only hope that was a slip in my tagging, I use a image tagging tool, and I have those options positioned somewhat closely. I can only assume that was the problem, (or I blacked out and went on a tagging spree hehe.) Next I'll be tagging microsoft logos GFDL. ;) - cohesion 05:46, 26 April 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Image tagging[edit]

Greetings! I noticed you tagged a lot of untagged images as GFDL-presumed. However, in some cases I'm really uncertain whether that's the proper tag: for example, this one from the text looks more like a "with permission", as it doesn't state anywhere that it is released under GFDL. It's best not to tag anything at all GFDL-presumed if you can contact the copyright holder or the uploader to clear it up; it's shaky ground to tag anything as GFDL-presumed when you're not reasonably sure, as a lot of people don't realize the difference between "permission to use" and "permission to release under GFDL". Thanks, Mindspillage (spill yours?) 03:10, 26 April 2006 (UTC)[reply]

I'll be careful next time. Maybe I'll re-tag all those I tagged with {{GFDL-presumed}} with {{no source}} or {{no license}}? What if the user stated that he or she took the picture? Do we have a boilerplate text to verify that to the user? (I'm not good in composing things, actually.) And since the image in question is unused maybe I'll tag that with {{Orphaned fairuse not replaced}}. -- bluemask 01:38, 27 April 2006 (UTC)[reply]

A landslide victory for The JPS (aka RFA thanks)[edit]

Hey, Mindspillage/2006archive4, thank you so much for your vote and comments in my RfA, which passed with an overwhelming consensus of 95/2/2. I was very surprised and flattered that the community has entrusted me with these lovely new toys. I ripped open the box and started playing with them as soon as I got them, and I've already had the pleasure of deleting random nonsense/attacks/copyvios tonight.
If I ever do anything wrong, or can help in some way, please feel free to drop me a line on my talk page, and I will do my best to correct my mistake, or whatever...
Now, to that bottle of wine waiting for me...

Re the whole de-bureaucrating thing[edit]

Hi, I never came to thank you for the message you left for me a month ago when I stepped down from being a bureaucrat. Thank you for the things you said, it's good to know there are still plenty of good people about in this project. I do not see myself standing for bureaucrat again anytime soon though who knows what the future may bring! Thank you once again. -- Francs2000 09:52, 29 April 2006 (UTC)[reply]

A favor please[edit]

Hello friend, do you remember me? In the month of September 2005, your vote had made me an administrator. we all know that the life here is exciting and full of challenges. I would request you to please spare fem moments for me, and favor me with your comments and suggestions (here please) on my performance as a wikipedian. Arb Case Mistake[edit]

Hi, im confused about something said in a report on the Arbirition case against me.

In this report, it states that i had warred on Gothic Metal, and been placed on Probation. It also says i violated WP:CITE. I want to know how this came about, when both myself and User:Parasti provided diffs to me citing sources. It also says this as a 'finding of fact'. In which case, here is the speficic sections which falsly accuse me of not providing sources, and the evidence that supported this, and the accompnying diffs:

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wikipedia:Requests_for_arbitration/Leyasu#Failure_to_cite_sources_and_original_research

Finding Of Fact Contrary To Provided Diffs

Diff from Evidence, Diff from Evidence, Diff from Evidence, taken from Parasti's Evidence. Diff from Evidence, taken from [Evidence] Diff from Evidence, taken from Leys Evidence. Diff from Evidence, Diff from Evidence taken from Leys Evidence Diff from Evidence, Diff from Evidence, taken from Leys Evidence

I even went as far as to quoting and explaining the sources on the talk page, [4].

I got all these diffs from the archive of the Arbirition case, Here.

I just want to know why all eight claimed i provided no sources, even though another involved party provided diffs of me providing sources, and i repeatedly gave diffs of me supplying sources. Im not having a go, im just confused how 8 Arbirrators managed to claim a 'finding of fact' despite over 10 diffs from two different users =\ Ley Shade 15:04, 29 April 2006 (UTC)[reply]
