In response to your feedback[edit]

There is a "Cite" toolbar at the top of the edit window which allows you to automatically generate the required wiki code.

You click one of the templates, e.g. "book", and fill in the details.

Referencing on Wikipedia is a very confusing topic, I'm sorry. Wikipedia uses in-text citations to verify information. We ask for third party sources like newspapers. Once you've found the information in another source, put the source right next to the information in the article, surrounded by <ref> and </ref>.
