Beirut IRC[edit]

I'm letting you know that I've re-added the {{notability}} tag to the Beirut IRC article. You cannot establish notability by merely citing a forum, as it is not a reliable source. Neither does a rank of 147 establish notability; Wikipedia currently only contains articles on 40 IRC networks, which are not necessarily notable. The notabilty guideline was already linked in the template, but I'll add the primary criteria here for your convenience:

"A notable topic has been the subject of multiple non-trivial published works that are reliable and independent of the subject." The depth of coverage of the subject by the sources should be considered in determining the number of sources needed. In the absence of multiple sources, it must be possible to verify that the source reflects a neutral point of view and is credible. Lack of multiple sources suggests that the topic is more suitable for inclusion in an article on a broader topic. Further definition of this concept is provided at the notability guideline.

Have a nice day! -- intgr 19:26, 13 April 2007 (UTC)[reply]

-- I really don't understand the problem. well you may go to "ALL" irc sites you will find the same results about the network. here are some links..

http://irc-junkie.org http://searchirc.com/network/beirut http://irc.netsplit.de/networks/details.php.en?net=Beirut&submenu=years http://chat.beirut.com and here is an article of our forums/chat on an israeli newspaper in the time of war. http://www.jpost.com/servlet/Satellite?pagename=JPost%2FJPArticle%2FShowFull&cid=1153291962290 (23:29, 13 April 2007 (UTC))

Note that the primary notability criteria says "published works". It's not that the statistics numbers aren't reliable, they just don't have any relevance; notability is not popularity (and the 147th position is not impressive really, given that Wikipedia only covers 40 networks).
Articles like the JPost one are reliable sources and the way to go, although Beirut IRC is not the subject of this article; rather, it's about Israelis and Lebanese communicating online.
P.S.: Sign your posts with four tildes, not five. :) -- 00:11, 14 April 2007 (UTC)

But the beirut forums is beirut irc network's forums. and communication online is about us and them, the israeli lebanese communication happened with the users that are in the chat and whom are the same on the forums. you said wikipedia covers 40 irc networks. beirut is one of the oldest on wikipedia first of all, secondly by seize its true its not the largest (of course we dont have warez thats why too) but in popularity its certainly one of the top 40 as its the largest/unique middle eastern network and its listed in servers.ini of mirc.com

now even one of the oldest irc games based its game on beirut network www.irctanks.com

you got also tv stations, radio stations, political sites.. www.future.com.lb/chat www.radioone.com.lb www.mconline.tv

i really do not understand your opposition to the article. Its the unique Israeli, Lebanese, Egyptian, Syrian.. point of communication, of a while mid continent and yet its not "notablity" i really don't understand..

oh and do please remember we are only two years old right, and we got 4500 members in our forums.. while much bigger networks dont even have the half which proves they arent really filled with humans but with bots/warez.. this is incase ur not impressed with the statistics. also do plz in the forums check the irc meeting that our users do. i guess its one of the only network so far that does international meetings. people traveling countries to meet. (i just felt quoting on that because irc stands internet relay chat (communication) and not warez and bots, and so far we are one of the few who kept that defenition.) thanks. Stef 07:07, 14 April 2007 (UTC) --

here is the main eggdrops/tcl site and as you may see in the links page beirut is one of the very few network listed. http://www.egghelp.org/links.htm stef

PS: i removed my full, plz keep it as stef

WikiProject Evangelion: Drive to Good Article status[edit]

I've been being a little slow about this, but (check the project page) we need to start brushing up the Evangelion articles to the point that they are "Good Article" status (it doesn't matter if they get Featured or something, just that they're good enough that they theoretically could be at that standard). This means making sure that they are EXACTLY in accordance with all of wikipedia's rules and regulations (i.e. gutting them of all of our own Analysis; i.e. on the episode articles and Angel names and such). This doesn't actually concern me that much. (What are you planning Ikari?--Keel) --Vi Veri Veniversum Vivus Vici 20:59, 14 July 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Images in Evangelion articles[edit]

As a signed-on participant of WikiProject Evangelion, I think we need to talk about the future of the images in the articles. Your input on the issue at the project's talk page is appreciated. Willbyr (talk | contribs) 03:53, 29 August 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Eva 1.0 article[edit]

Hi, I'm copy-pasting this image to all you members in the Evangelion workgroup, since there seems to be no communication/to-do template in your workgroup yet (not sure if I have the time to join myself yet). The article on the newest movie needs serious help, particularly in converting listcruft to prose. Note that you may expose yourself to some spoilers if you choose to help.
