Gold Mining[edit]

I think your content or link to its aown article belongs in the economy section. You will note that I have added a red link for Gold Mining In Virginia. I would suggest you write your new article under that link. I'll be glad to look it over for you. Mark Vaoverland 07:12, 15 April 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Strawberry crab[edit]

I didn't mean to doubt your word when I moved strawberry crab to Neoliomera pubescens, but I hadn't seen much evidence of that name being used in my somewhat cursory web search. There are several mentions of the Latin name, but rarely is a common name mentioned at the same time, and most of the pictures found when searching for "strawberry crab" are for the "strawberry hermit crab", Coenobita perlatus. Perhaps you could add a citation of some sort for the common name (or for the two names being the same species). --Stemonitis 06:58, 23 June 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Calling programmers[edit]

We need coders for the WikiProject Disambigation fixer. We need to make a program to make faster and easier the fixing of links. We will be happy if you could check the project. You can Help! --Neo139 09:08, 5 August 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Nano reef[edit]

Hey there. Just a friendly note to say that I've nominated Nano reef for deletion. I'm concerned about the quality of the article at this time, and the fact that it's headed the way of a link cruft. Cheers. BFD1 21:43, 12 January 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Merge[edit]

Hi Mmoyer -

I merged Nano reef with Reef aquarium. I note your concerns about this merge and would be happy to split the articles again if there seems to be a good reason to do so. There was a recent AFD discussion on Nano reef - the result of which was keep. Either way, Reef aquarium as it currently stands requires a lot of work. In my view it would be better to get this article to something near good article status and decide what to do with the Nano reef section from there? Thoughts? Regards, David. Hi Mmoyer. I just replied to your post on the WP:AQF talk page and on the vote page. By the way, I noticed you are the one who wrote yellow clown goby which I think is pretty well written. I even listed your article as a good example for WikiProject Aquarium Fishes. Since you are already writing about aquarium fishes, why don't you join our project and get to know other aquarium fishes editors? Cheers. PS. this is our January newsletter just in case you want to know what the project is doing.

Commercial use of Image:Rippon Lodge.JPG[edit]

Hello, this is a message from an automated bot. A tag has been placed on Image:Rippon Lodge.JPG, by another Wikipedia user, requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. The tag claims that it should be speedily deleted because Image:Rippon Lodge.JPG is an image licensed as "for non-commercial use only" or "used with permission for use on Wikipedia only" which was either uploaded on or after 2005-05-19 or is not used in any articles (CSD I3).

Re:Hollister Brawl[edit]

It's easy enough to show it never happened. There are many documentaries, books, and witnesses that have said it never happened. I suggest reading the book on The Boozefighters- The Original Wild Ones by Bill Hayes. You can also look on the web- I can promise that you will not find a single credible source that says this was an actual event. 208.34.201.223 19:08, 1 June 2007 (UTC)[reply]

DC Meetup notice[edit]

Greetings. There is going to be a Washington DC Wikipedia meetup on next Saturday, July 21st at 5pm in DC. Since you are listed in Category:Wikipedians_in_Virginia, I thought I'd invite you to come. I'm sorry about the short notice for the meeting. Hopefully we'll do somewhat better in that regard next time. If you can't come but want to make sure that you are informed of future meetings be sure to list yourself under "but let me know about future events", and if you don't want to get any future direct notices \(like this one\), you can list yourself under "I'm not interested in attending any others either" on the DC meetup page.--Gmaxwell 22:08, 14 July 2007 (UTC)[reply]

New Article Improvment page for WP:VIRGINIA[edit]

Seeing as our old Collaborations page at WP:VIRGINIA had no activity in the past year it was decided to replace it with a new Article Improvement/Request Help page that would allow members to list articles in need of attention. Its also a place to request help for an article taht you are working on to see if any other members would like to volunteer and help out. Thanks. T Rex | talk 01:20, 4 August 2007 (UTC)[reply]

RE:List of Marine Aquarium Species[edit]

I guess I can merge it now. I was going to wait until I finish it and then run it past an administrator, but I suppose it doesn't really matter. As you can tell, it's been taking me a while to do it- between vacation and school and everything else going on... I was hoping I would have it done by the end of summer but it's not looking like that's going to happen. I'll get it done eventually!

About the gun rights, perhaps my userbox gave you the wrong impression. It's not exactly my belief- perhaps I should make one myself. I know a lot of people who keep weapons in their home for their "protection". I also know some younger people who have been accidentally shot while "playing" with the guns their parents left around. Obviously, a lot of this is a parental thing- people need to be very clear with their children that guns and knives are not toys. Nonetheless, those accidents would not have occurred if the weapons were not in the house. As an Alaskan, I support subsistence hunting, even though I don't engage in it. If someone keeps a rifle for shooting animals that they are going to eat, I say more power to them. But, they need to be careful that those guns do not end up in the wrong hands. In a nutshell, I believe that the vast majority of people who have guns really shouldn't, and that a lot of deaths could be prevented from making sure that guns are not easily available. Obviously, even if we outlawed guns outright, there would still be some hardcore criminals who would make them or find some way to get them, but I think we could cut down on the homicides in this country. A lot of the times people who kill others do it on impulse. Going out and jumping through those hoops of getting a gun would not be something they would be likely to do if there were stricter laws. I hope this makes sense. I would be happy to dialogue further with you about this- I consider myself a reasonable person. My email is 'la.aquatique@gmail.com'. Rippon Lodge[edit]

Thank you! As a new Wikipedia "editor", I appreciate your words of encouragement. I've also just updated a link and added a couple more. I enjoy articles about local historical sites like this one on Rippon Lodge, as well as your articles on Minnieville and other local 'extinct' sites. Bandidos[edit]

I keep fixing Bandidos page it it keeps reverting it back. The infor was vadals and I fix it and reverts back to the original vadal stuff with-in 20 minutes. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Bandidoperv (talkcontribs) 18:01, 5 September 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Bandidoperv is a new user and a member of the Bandidos. He has a good point about the article - it's full of innuendo and half-truths. Though I applaud your efforts at preventing vandalism, I believe you have been a bit heavy-handed in your dealings with him. I have written him a welcoming note, encouraging him to discuss his ideas on the talk page.
Also, I am actively involved in maintaining this article and would ask for a bit of leeway when dealing with him. I will work closely with him to ensure that WP:V is followed. Thanks! Mmoyer 01:48, 7 September 2007 (UTC)[reply]
Yeah -- I screwed up when dealing with him. I apologized, though, and let him fix what needed to be fixed. Sorry about the trouble.
P.S. -- you may want to warn him about WP:COI... though that will only matter if someone complains, and no one (but me, and incorrectly) has yet. Gscshoyru 01:56, 7 September 2007 (UTC)[reply]
Cool! I have already explained it on his talk page, but I will add the WP:COI link (I didn't know there was a policy). Well, no harm - no foul. Thanks for your understanding! Mmoyer 02:06, 7 September 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Thank you for uploading Image:LincolnFutura.jpg. However, it currently is missing information on its copyright status. Wikipedia takes copyright very seriously. It may be deleted soon, unless we can determine the license and the source of the image. If you know this information, then you can add a copyright tag to the image description page.

Re:A Barnstar for you![edit]

Wow, thanks!! My first barnstar! Too bad that page still isn't finished... I keep getting distracted... like right now I'm making range maps for native Alaskan fish. I should put that on hold since it isn't as important as List of marine aquarium fish species. Thanks again! L'Aquatique talktome 02:38, 3 October 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Prince William County template[edit]

Thank you so much for the barnstar you bestowed upon me last week! It is a first for me on English Wikipedia and I really appreciate your thoughtfulness. I have always taken an interest in the small rural communities of the Eastern Panhandle of West Virginia and Northern Virginia, mostly because they are disappearing rapidly every day due to their proximity to the Washington Metropolitan Area. Some time ago, I went through various county articles in the region and added all of the unincorporated communities that I knew of hoping that an individual would see the dead red link and share with Wikipedia a little information about an otherwise forgotten place. Hundreds of thousands of people live in Prince William County, but how many of those residents know of Brentsville as a former county seat? How many people in Fairfax know that Colchester was the original county seat of their county? These places are important to the history of the area and while Minnieville and places like it have disappeared, we can give them new life by sharing their stories here on Wikipedia. Thank you for recognizing these efforts of myself and others! --Caponer 03:19, 22 October 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Bandidos[edit]

Give it a break. No one would consider that a "personal attack". You're overreacting. And, some might consider YOUR comments on my page as intimidation. Are you trying to intimidate me because you disagree with my comments about the nature of the Bandidos? One might get that impression. I don't intimidate well, I find it an offensive and unbecoming quality all to prevalent here at Wikipedia by the "old timers". Please stop now.

I'm sorry you disagree with me about the nature of the Bandidos, but me saying your comments where patronizing is not a "personal attack", it's a suggestion that you maybe need to look at your approach to talking to people. Please get a life and try to focus on worthwhile Wiki activities. WiccaWeb 16:56, 22 October 2007 (UTC)[reply]

GA review of Furry convention[edit]

My apologies for not leaving a note on your talk page stating that I had reviewed it. It was late last night. I see that several of you have already started (and finished, perhaps?) addressing the issue. Please advise if you would like me to re-review early, or wait the standard seven day period. I am at your service. Mmoyer 18:05, 27 October 2007 (UTC)[reply]

You can review it now, and yes, the fire mess is over at my neck of the woods. Everyone is safe and sound. User:Zscout370 (Return Fire) 19:25, 27 October 2007 (UTC)[reply]
No problem - I was watching the page anyway. :-) I did not intend my initial edit to be the complete response to your concerns. I only found out late last night that it had been accepted for reviewing, and did what I could in an hour or so. In fact I've invited some WikiFur associates to help, though I'm unsure how much that will achieve. It would probably be a good idea to wait for the complete period to ensure that those who are going to contribute do, to their full ability. Obviously if you feel that it now satisfies the good article criteria then you are welcome to promote it, and we will simply improve it further from there with your comments.
