Hello Mnfrdp. The nature of your edits gives the impression you have an undisclosed financial stake in promoting a topic, but you have not complied with Wikipedia's mandatory paid editing disclosure requirements. Paid advocacy is a category of conflict of interest (COI) editing that involves being compensated by a person, group, company or organization to use Wikipedia to promote their interests. Undisclosed paid advocacy is prohibited by our policies on neutral point of view and what Wikipedia is not, and is an especially serious type of COI; the Wikimedia Foundation regards it as a "black hat" practice akin to black-hat search-engine optimization.

Paid advocates are very strongly discouraged from direct article editing, and should instead propose changes on the talk page of the article in question if an article exists. If the article does not exist, paid advocates are extremely strongly discouraged from attempting to write an article at all. At best, any proposed article creation should be submitted through the articles for creation process, rather than directly.

Regardless, if you are receiving or expect to receive compensation for your edits, broadly construed, you are required by the Wikimedia Terms of Use to disclose your employer, client and affiliation. You can post such a mandatory disclosure to your user page at User:Mnfrdp. The template {{Paid}} can be used for this purpose – e.g. in the form: {{paid|user=Mnfrdp|employer=InsertName|client=InsertName}}. If I am mistaken – you are not being directly or indirectly compensated for your edits – please state that in response to this message. Otherwise, please provide the required disclosure. In either case, do not edit further until you answer this message. 331dot (talk) 21:11, 25 May 2023 (UTC)[reply]

This is to confirm that I am not employed by anyone, being retired. I receive no compensation, directly or indirectly, for my edits. Any positions I hold are unpaid volunteer positions. In fact, I donate money to the foundations that I support. To summarize, I do not receive any money from the DAAD Alumni Association of the US. Mnfrdp (talk) 21:37, 25 May 2023 (UTC)[reply]
Okay. Are you associated with the organization at all? 331dot (talk) 07:49, 26 May 2023 (UTC)[reply]
Yes, I am its vice-president. Mpatlehman (talk) 12:58, 26 May 2023 (UTC)[reply]
Unpaid Vice president, of course. None of the officers of the organization receive any salary or benefits. Mpatlehman (talk) 12:59, 26 May 2023 (UTC)[reply]
Okay, you still have an unpaid conflict of interest. Please review the information I've placed on your new user talk page. 331dot (talk) 14:57, 26 May 2023 (UTC)[reply]
It is not clear to me what actions I can take. Mpatlehman (talk) 15:39, 26 May 2023 (UTC)[reply]
I'll discuss this further on your new user talk page. 331dot (talk) 16:48, 26 May 2023 (UTC)[reply]
How do I get to that page? Mpatlehman (talk) 17:09, 26 May 2023 (UTC)[reply]
I'm a bit confused here, are you aware that you are using a different account? (I've heard of that happening before, so don't feel bad) Your new user talk page is User talk:Mpatlehman. 331dot (talk) 18:47, 26 May 2023 (UTC)[reply]
That is true. So what do you suggest I do? Mpatlehman (talk) 19:16, 26 May 2023 (UTC)[reply]
I suggest that you decide which account you want to use. You are logged in to Mpatlehman now. If you wish to continue to use that one, then you should abandon this account, stop posting on this page, and go to User talk:Mpatlehman and continue discussing there. If you wish to use the Mnfrdp account, then log out of Mpatlehman, forget about that account, and log into this one. 331dot (talk) 19:23, 26 May 2023 (UTC)[reply]
Well, I suppose that the take-home is that I not post further on that page, no matter what account I use. Is that correct? I do not know how to switch accounts. Mpatlehman (talk) 19:31, 26 May 2023 (UTC)[reply]
Currently you are on the user talk page for the "Mnfrdp" account. You are logged in to the "Mpatlehman" account. If you wish to stay with the "Mpatlehman" account, simply stop coming to this page and go to User talk:Mpatlehman from this point on.
If you would prefer to use the "Mnfrdp" account, please say so and I will give further advice if necessary, to avoid further confusion. 331dot (talk) 19:37, 26 May 2023 (UTC)[reply]
I have no idea how to change the account I am using. When I try it fails.
Can we just use this channel to talk? Mpatlehman (talk) 19:40, 26 May 2023 (UTC)[reply]
You don't need to change your account. Just click on User talk:Mpatlehman. It should take you right to the correct page. Are you editing on a mobile device like a phone, or a computer? 331dot (talk) 19:56, 26 May 2023 (UTC)[reply]
