How you can help
Hi. Sorry that you're frustrated. We really would welcome your help, but I'm afraid that your first efforts have run afoul of a couple of different policies. I presume your first article was something in the line of an editing test; we have a "sandbox" for practice, but we do have to ask that people not write fake articles. Readers who come here generally realize that there are accuracy issues with an open-community encyclopedia, but we do our best to make sure that the content they find is accurate. As to your second, I'm afraid that legal issues prevent our copying from copyrighted sources. See Wikipedia:Copy-paste. While that would have made a fine article, the source was under copyright by the City of Baltimore, and we can't have it without their permission.
Depending on your interests, there are many other areas and ways to contribute to Wikipedia. Starting off by creating new articles can be challenging for anyone. You might want to consider instead improving some of our existing articles. When I myself first arrived, I clicked "random article" in the navigation panel to the left hand side of the screen until I found something that looked like I could make it better, but, then, I'm something of a generalist. If you want to find articles in areas of interest to you, you could explore Wikipedia:WikiProjects, where contributors who share interests pull together.
I hope your next endeavors are more satisfying to you. Happy editing. --Moonriddengirl (talk) 15:24, 5 January 2011 (UTC)[reply]
