Plan for Attack![edit]

The research for Phillip Pigouchet is very difficult because there is not that much information to gather- i tried looking for some books to back up my article. There is not much information on the man himself- along the way- ill keep looking for more. For now, i want to focus on another designer that i discovered while reading about Art Nouveau which struck out to me. The artist is Katsushika Hokusai [1]- His wikipedia article is excellent. Especially because there is a large amount of his art work. The meaning on Ukiyo-e should be defined in his article because that helps to understand that Tokugawa period in Japan which influenced his work/the word influences the works of the art movement in Japan. I want to include and write more about the cultural change in Japan as well. I found a book on the csi library [2] which from my understanding has sketches of his work and talks more about wood engraving. I also got access to an online only book which talks about Hokusai's style of work being described as "vulgar paintings." The book also talks about his experience in being Edo's assistant as a child. In addition, in the first chapter (which is a limit amount of what i cant view)- It talks about him leaving a studio to go work on his own inspirations and having a signature name of Mugura meaning "shrub." In my opinion, the book goes into depth with his life which shapes a better understanding of his attitude towards art itself. Plus- the book was published in 2009- more of a recent resource. [3] I plan to add more on his work from our textbook. Even the metropolitan website talks about his work [4]

As far as the book of hours: [5] Now- this one is a bit hard to find information on as well. I am not sure how accurate this website is but it has a little dialogue that may be very important to the article. [6]

Charles Ricketts was very important to the Art Nouveau as well. His wikipedia page is good too- especially because it talks about his theatrical designs (which i am interested in)- his work is inspiring too. There is a PDF page that is locked but i will like to use as a cite. You can find it on this site. [7] http://www.1890s.ca/PDFs/ricketts_bio.pdf

Articles i plan to work on[edit]

The Book of hours wikipedia page is excellent! Although, i would like to add more on other artist who created copies on the Book of Hours- especially Phillipe Pigouchet. The terminology "Horae" and where does it come from- which is also related to greek mytholgy (how do they link? How did it come about?) ([[http://blogs.princeton.edu/graphicarts/2013/03/pigouchet_for_simon_vostre.html)

There is NO wikipedia page on Phillippe Pigouchet.

  • Adding other tales or related illustrations that can be related to Pigouchet's work
  • Other works by Pigouchet (if there is any other)

The hour of the cross aka The Crucifixion is a prayer that is in the book of Hours but it does not have a wikipedia page like the other prayers included in the article. Painted Prayers book can be a reference. --Moiselle4dreaa (talk) 02:26, 25 September 2013 (UTC)[reply]

I think you should focus on Pigouchet -- please 5 to 10 scholarly/legitimate citations you can find *prior* to class on Weds. You suggest creating a page for a specific type of page from the books of hours; I don't see any examples of similar pages for other sections of the book of hours. If you want to follow this route, can you post links?--Theredproject (talk) 17:38, 5 October 2013 (UTC)[reply]
