Welcome![edit]

Hello, Montrealpastrami, and welcome to Wikipedia! Thank you for your contributions. I hope you like the place and decide to stay. Unfortunately, one or more of the pages you created, such as Montreal pastrami, may not conform to some of Wikipedia's guidelines, and may not be retained.

There's a page about creating articles you may want to read called Your first article. If you are stuck, and looking for help, please come to the New contributors' help page, where experienced Wikipedians can answer any queries you have! Or, you can just type {{helpme}} on this page, followed by your question, and someone will show up shortly to answer your questions. Here are a few other good links for newcomers:

I hope you enjoy editing here and being a Wikipedian! Please sign your name on talk pages using four tildes (~~~~); this will automatically produce your name and the date. If you have any questions, check out Wikipedia:Questions or ask me on my talk page. Again, welcome! Surfer43 (talk) 17:47, 1 June 2013 (UTC)[reply]

The article Montreal pastrami has been proposed for deletion because of the following concern:

No sources, no backup on internet, like a redirect.

Yes there is a source www.jacobharrison.co.uk Montrealpastrami (talk) 19:03, 14 June 2013 (UTC) Montreal pastrami[reply]

While all constructive contributions to Wikipedia are appreciated, content or articles may be deleted for any of several reasons.

You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{proposed deletion/dated}} notice, but please explain why in your edit summary or on the article's talk page.

Please consider improving the article to address the issues raised. Removing {{proposed deletion/dated}} will stop the proposed deletion process, but other deletion processes exist. In particular, the speedy deletion process can result in deletion without discussion, and articles for deletion allows discussion to reach consensus for deletion. June 2013[edit]

Information icon Hello, Montrealpastrami. We welcome your contributions to Wikipedia, but if you are affiliated with some of the people, places or things you have written about in the article Montreal-style smoked meat, you may have a conflict of interest or close connection to the subject.

All editors are required to comply with Wikipedia's neutral point of view content policy. People who are very close to a subject often have a distorted view of it, which may cause them to inadvertently edit in ways that make the article either too flattering or too disparaging. People with a close connection to a subject are not absolutely prohibited from editing about that subject, but they need to be especially careful about ensuring their edits are verified by reliable sources and writing with as little bias as possible.

If you are very close to a subject, here are some ways you can reduce the risk of problems:

  • Avoid or exercise great caution when editing or creating articles related to you, your organization, or its competitors, as well as projects and products they are involved with.
  • Be cautious about deletion discussions. Everyone is welcome to provide information about independent sources in deletion discussions, but avoid advocating for deletion of articles about your competitors.
  • Avoid linking to the Wikipedia article or website of your organization in other articles (see Wikipedia:Spam).
  • Exercise great caution so that you do not accidentally breach Wikipedia's content policies.

Please familiarize yourself with relevant content policies and guidelines, especially those pertaining to neutral point of view, verifiability of information, and autobiographies.

For information on how to contribute to Wikipedia when you have a conflict of interest, please see our frequently asked questions for organizations. Thank you. Based upon your admitted conflict of interest here [1] ConcernedVancouverite (talk) 19:51, 14 June 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Please stop adding inappropriate external links to Wikipedia, as you did to Montreal-style smoked meat. It is considered spamming and Wikipedia is not a vehicle for advertising or promotion. Because Wikipedia uses nofollow tags, additions of links to Wikipedia will not alter search engine rankings. If you continue spamming, you may be blocked from editing Wikipedia. ConcernedVancouverite (talk) 19:53, 14 June 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Stop icon
You have been blocked indefinitely from editing for advertising or promotion. From your contributions, this seems to be your only purpose. If you think there are good reasons why you should be unblocked, you may appeal this block by adding the following text below this notice: {{unblock|reason=Your reason here ~~~~}}. However, you should read the guide to appealing blocks first.  -- Mufka (u) (t) (c) 20:21, 14 June 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Request reason:

My apologies I misunderstood the reference rules and I thought another user was being malicious in deleting my updates. Regret

Decline reason:

You should also regret that that request doesn't seem to address the apparently promotional nature of those updates. — Daniel Case (talk) 16:48, 15 June 2013 (UTC)[reply]

If you want to make any further unblock requests, please read the guide to appealing blocks first, then use the {{unblock}} template again. If you make too many unconvincing or disruptive unblock requests, you may be prevented from editing this page until your block has expired. Do not remove this unblock review while you are blocked.

Request reason:

Independent references are listed on the website under press. The sources should have been listed directly on wikipedia and I understand that now. I thought the posts were being deleted out of malice. Again my apologies for this oversight. It does feel though that being blocked is perhaps a pit punitive given that I did seek advice from your help desk. Montrealpastrami (talk) 06:02, 16 June 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Decline reason:

We do not permit usernames which are the names of groups or organizations. I see that perhaps you are not in fact editing for a "Montreal Pastrami Company" but your username combined with your edits gives that impression, and Wikipedia is extremely resistant to any kind of promotional editing; you would be well advised to suggest a new username which will represent only you as an individual. It can be based on your real name or not, as you choose - see WP:REALNAME for some considerations. To do that, place {{unblock-un | user=new username | reason=your reason here}} at the bottom of this user talk page.

Also, Wikipedia is not to be used for advertising or promotion of any kind, and so has strict rules against editing with a conflict of interest. Please read the WP:Plain and simple conflict of interest guide and confirm that you would agree to edit in accordance with its principles. JohnCD (talk) 21:46, 16 June 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Good. I'm afraid I can't do the name-change for you: please click on WP:Changing username, read to the bottom of that page, click on "Simple" and follow the instructions. JohnCD (talk) 22:09, 17 June 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Don't take it personally[edit]

RE: this comment. We have processes here that work to ensure the integrity of the project. The volunteers here, some who have many years of experience, call it like they see it. If something looks funny, we have processes that get followed. If you're going to stick around, one piece of advice I can give is that you must have a thick skin. Don't take things personally. -- Mufka (u) (t) (c) 14:41, 21 June 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Words of wisdom no doubt and the commitment of the volunteers. That being said one should not dismiss the power of "I'm sorry".Whetstone71 (talk) 14:45, 21 June 2013 (UTC)[reply]
