Your first article[edit]

Hi, this may help Wikipedia:Your first article , thanks. Off2riorob (talk) 18:32, 27 November 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Thank you MoodFreak (talk) 18:34, 27 November 2009 (UTC)[reply]

No worries, if you have any questions, feel free to ask me and if I can't answer I will direct you in the correct direction, regards. Off2riorob (talk) 18:37, 27 November 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Hi, I think you have good intentions, but please explain your edits so that others can follow what you do. The Wikipedia tag for missing references is relevant if there are no references in the text, even if some are given at the bottom, so please don't delete it. Thanks and welcome. Jeppiz (talk) 18:55, 27 November 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Hi again, thanks for the question. References in the text are meant in the same way as in any academic paper or article. Claims are followed immediately by their sources, just having sources at the end is usually not seen as proper referencing. Have a look at some articles and you'll see how it's done. Don't hesitate to ask again if my explanation is unclear, cheers.Jeppiz (talk) 19:03, 27 November 2009 (UTC)[reply]

It is never easy...[edit]

Hi, Citations are not really so hard and repeatedly follow a pattern, I have seen people use <ref>and the http address here and closed by a</ref> that works at first and someone or yourself comes along in a bit and tidies it up a bit..better this than nothing..click on edit and you'll see how that was formed. I use the same template each time, so it gets easier and easier. Off2riorob (talk) 18:03, 28 November 2009 (UTC)[reply]

The example you use here is much easier than what I have been seeing in the other pages. Thank you. MoodFreak (talk) 18:25, 28 November 2009 (UTC)[reply]

As I said that is the most simple starting point, if you add a link that way your content will not be removed as uncited. if needed, later I will show you how to develop it. Off2riorob (talk) 18:29, 28 November 2009 (UTC)[reply]

To cite a website use {{cite web}}, to cite a book, use {{cite book}}. Both look complicated at first, but just ignore unused parameters. For websites you can usually get away with {{cite web|url= |title= |publisher= |accessdate=}}. Mjroots (talk) 08:17, 30 November 2009 (UTC)[reply]
