Martin Stepek[edit]

I have moved your writings on Martin Stepek to User:Mornalaird/sandbox. It sounds like Jan and Teresa Stepek may be notable. But you will need some references to support your draft article. So far there is NO CLAIM OF IMPORTANCE for Martin Stepek, so it is not ready to be an article with that title. Graeme Bartlett (talk) 22:15, 24 October 2017 (UTC)[reply]

A tag has been placed on User:Mornalaird/sandbox requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section U5 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the page appears to consist of writings, information, discussions, and/or activities not closely related to Wikipedia's goals. Please note that Wikipedia is not a free web hosting service. Under the criteria for speedy deletion, such pages may be deleted at any time.

If you think this page should not be deleted for this reason, you may contest the nomination by visiting the page and clicking the button labelled "Contest this speedy deletion". This will give you the opportunity to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. However, be aware that once a page is tagged for speedy deletion, it may be removed without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag from the page yourself, but do not hesitate to add information in line with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. If the page is deleted, and you wish to retrieve the deleted material for future reference or improvement, then please contact the deleting administrator, or if you have already done so, you can place a request here. The article Martin Stepek has been proposed for deletion because it appears to have no references. Under Wikipedia policy, this biography of a living person will be deleted after seven days unless it has at least one reference to a reliable source that directly supports material in the article.

If you created the article, please don't be offended. Instead, consider improving the article. For help on inserting references, see Referencing for beginners, or ask at the help desk. Once you have provided at least one reliable source, you may remove the {{prod blp/dated}} tag. Please do not remove the tag unless the article is sourced. If you cannot provide such a source within seven days, the article may be deleted, but you can request that it be undeleted when you are ready to add one. – Train2104 (t • c) 01:35, 8 November 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Information icon Please do not remove maintenance templates from pages on Wikipedia, as you did to Martin Stepek, without resolving the problem that the template refers to, or giving a valid reason for the removal in the edit summary. Your removal of this template does not appear constructive, and has been reverted. Thank you. Melcous (talk) 12:23, 8 November 2017 (UTC)[reply]

I've restored the Notability tag to this article. While Stepek may have won some awards for his books, these are not notable awards, and there is still no evidence of significant coverage in independent sources. WikiDan61ChatMe!ReadMe!! 12:57, 8 November 2017 (UTC)[reply]
Notice

The article Martin Stepek has been proposed for deletion because of the following concern:

Fails the GNG. Jan Stepek may well be notable, but my WP:BEFORE search found insufficient coverage of his son in independent reliable sources to establish the latter's notability. The BBC piece is just a non-independent interview; other available sources are passing mentions, Stepek's own writings, etc. The fairly minor awards are insufficient to contribute toward notability on their own.

While all constructive contributions to Wikipedia are appreciated, pages may be deleted for any of several reasons.

You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{proposed deletion/dated}} notice, but please explain why in your edit summary or on the article's talk page.

Please consider improving the page to address the issues raised. Removing {{proposed deletion/dated}} will stop the proposed deletion process, but other deletion processes exist. In particular, the speedy deletion process can result in deletion without discussion, and articles for deletion allows discussion to reach consensus for deletion.
