Frobenius solution to the Hypergeometric Equation[edit]

A proposed deletion template has been added to the article Frobenius solution to the Hypergeometric Equation, suggesting that it be deleted according to the proposed deletion process. All contributions are appreciated, but this article may not satisfy Wikipedia's criteria for inclusion, and the deletion notice should explain why (see also "What Wikipedia is not" and Wikipedia's deletion policy). Frobenius solution (personal comment)[edit]

It's great that you are contributing mathematics articles. However, you might want to familiarize yourself with the style here for presenting math; as you wrote it, the article is extremely difficult to edit because all the text is embedded in dense LaTeX code. Some of us at Wikipedia:WikiProject Mathematics (see also the talk page) are trying to clean it up a little. In the future, you should try to format your text so that each equation stands alone and so that the non-mathematical text is written in plain text, not buried in a <math>...</math> group. Note that these tags are especially problematic because Wikipedia renders most math as a PNG file, rather than actual text. I also can't promise anything about the future of this article itself; such things, which are basically textbook material, tend to get thrown out. The way TeX is used on Wikipedia is quite different from the way it's normally used. When text is in TeX, a person editing the article later can't put in links, and Wikipedia relies heavily on links. The main point here is of course that in Wikipedia, LaTeX is only "math mode"; if you wouldn't put it in math mode normally, don't write it in LaTeX here. Even if you don't like the Web page typesetting, it's infinitely better for other reasons to do it this way. Apropos of which: it is poor style to use manual formatting commands in LaTeX except to make very minor tweaks. These things tend to be taken care of by macros if not by default, so if you find yourself writing lots of "code", it's a sign that you need to learn the language better. Ok, I'll try to be more careful :) the thing is I had already written this solution in a word document using mathtype. Then I just used the mathtype translator to put it on wikipedia. I'm not really familiar with writting math... I actually wrote 2 other documents: solution of Bessel's differential equation and Legendre's differential equation, also using Frobenius method. But they are written in the same way as the Hypergeometric equation I wrote here, so I haven't put them here because that seems to be problematic... I don't know... the problem is that I barely have time to write them. So mmm maybe I could send someone the word documents and he would write them here? that would be really great! my e-mail adress is b_smart88@hotmail.com if anyone is interested. As for the future of the article, I don't know, do what you think is right :) maybe it should indeed be put in wikibooks.
