I see the need for editing, but I do think the article is a little less accurate now though, because the rules about what happens if an NOC exceeds its allocation in qualification events have been removed. In effect, the article now says top 8 individuals win qualification places, but that's not actualy true, it's the top eight, excluding those from NOCS finishing 1-8 in the team event. That's not the same thing. Rather than have a detailed discussion on it or anything, is this maybe a place for a more detailed and separate 2010 Olympic Games - Archery - Qualification article? no problem, be delighted to; and thanks - can i suggest that we remove words like "top 8" from the main article, and simply indicate the number of places (in that case, simply '8') that will be awarded per Noc or per event, and then in the secondary, qualification article, we set out how those places are allotted, with all the little rules? True, but the problem is that what it currently says is just wrong. It's not the top 8 who get in, it's the top 8 after a certain number of NOCs are excepted. It's better left out altogether than inaccurate. I know it's nice to have neat tables, but that's not a good enough reason to put up things that are demonstrably not right.

I'm taking out the references to 'top' because they are just not true, but i'm happy to discuss how we get infomration up that is accurate, either here, or in the companion article. Mpjmcevoy (talk) 22:08, 1 March 2011 (UTC)

Getting Wikimedians to the Olympic Games

Hi. I am part of an effort to get Wikimedians access to the 2016 Summer Olympics as accredited reporters and photographers. Part of this effort includes covering the 2012 Summer Paralympics. Two Wikimedians have credentials to attend these games as reporters through Wikimedia Australia. As English Wikipedia does not allow original reporting, this is largely through Wikinews with a project page found at Wikinews:Paralympic Games. If you are interested in helping to get Wikimedians to the next Summer Olympics,I'd encourage you to assist with Wikinews efforts, and also to work on all language 2012 Summer Paralympic Wikipedia articles before, during and after the Games to demonstrate a track record of success. Invitation to the African Destubathon

Hi. You may be interested in participating in the African Destubathon which starts on October 15. Africa currently has over 37,000 stubs and badly needs a quality improvement editathon/contest to flesh out basic stubs. There are proposed substantial prizes to give to editors who do the most articles, and planned smaller prizes for doing to most destubs for each of the 53 African countries, so should be enjoyable! So it would be a good chance to win something for improving stubs on African sportspeople, including footballers, athletes, Olympians and Paralympians etc, particularly female ones, but also male. Even if contests aren't your thing we would be grateful if you could consider destubbing a few African articles during the drive to help the cause and help reduce the massive 37,000 + stub count, of which many are rated high importance (think Regions of countries etc). If you're interested in competing or just loosely contributing a few expanded articles on African Paralympians, Olympians and committees etc, please add your name to the Contestants/participants section.
