August 2022[edit]

Information icon Please do not add original research or novel syntheses of published material to articles as you apparently did to Belle (Beauty and the Beast). Please cite a reliable source for all of your contributions. Thank you. Geraldo Perez (talk) 23:30, 24 August 2022 (UTC)[reply]

In fact I wrote differently the part in Belle's article to make it acceptable according to what you told me. Plus, it had reliable sources and links along with it. Mr. Razorteeth (talk) 23:35, 24 August 2022 (UTC)[reply]

None of the added sources directly stated what you added. Geraldo Perez (talk) 23:38, 24 August 2022 (UTC)[reply]

That is a feminist Princess before Belle? Yes. The rest is simply all in the film The Little Mermaid. Mr. Razorteeth (talk) 23:41, 24 August 2022 (UTC)[reply]

What is or isn't a feminist character is open to debate. We go with what sources directly state. The fact that your addition is a parenthetical is a strong indication it isn't important. It isn't mentioned in the article body where normally this sort of evaluation would be covered. It is written like a personal opinion or observation. See WP:SYNTHESIS. I doesn't belong in the lead and as written and sourced doesn't belong in the article either. Geraldo Perez (talk) 23:47, 24 August 2022 (UTC)[reply]

How do I write it like it's not a personal opinion or observation? Plus, what debate since those same official sources state that Ariel is a feminist character and also explain why? Mr. Razorteeth (talk) 23:49, 24 August 2022 (UTC)[reply]

See "Characterization and themes" section in the article where this is discussed and effectively already covered. What is in the lead currently is sufficient to summarize the main points of that section, no more is needed. You are making an argument in the lead as a rebuttal to what the screenwriter stated. You are not reporting on something stated in reliable sources and one covered in the body of the article. Geraldo Perez (talk) 00:01, 25 August 2022 (UTC)[reply]
