Orphaned non-free media (File:Tetrisgb.jpg)[edit]

Thanks for uploading File:Tetrisgb.jpg. The media description page currently specifies that it is non-free and may only be used on Wikipedia under a claim of fair use. BIOS that boots system after a power failure?[edit]

Hello, Mr Burns. I saw your contribution in Reboot (computing) article but I am afraid I must seriously request a source for the claim that "most BIOSes" can boot the computer after a power failure. The source must clear about what "most" constitutes and the fact that it is the BIOS that does the restoration of power.

I cannot find any sources which confirm that most BIOSes offer that feature. However, I can find sources that confirm that it is used at least on some BIOSes.[2] (Page 32) [3] (Page 4-5 ~ 69) I will change the wording from "most" to "some". --MrBurns (talk) 08:40, 9 April 2013 (UTC)[reply]

I just came across this, and would add that your statement about most BIOSes having a feature that can turn the computer on (or back on) upon power loss, is true. Practically every computer that I have serviced has this feature in the BIOS; although, to date, I have not found it in any laptops. The option is frequently a tri-state selector named something like “On power failure” with 3 options named something like: “Restore previous state”, “Turn on”, and “Stay off”.
