Notification: changes to "Mark my edits as minor by default" preference[edit]

Hello there. This is an automated message to tell you about the gradual phasing out of the preference entitled "Mark all edits minor by default", which you currently have (or very recently had) enabled.

On 13 March 2011, this preference was hidden from the user preferences screen as part of efforts to prevent its accidental misuse (consensus discussion). This had the effect of locking users in to their existing preference, which, in your case, was true. To complete the process, your preference will automatically be changed to false in the next few days. This does not require any intervention on your part and you will still be able to manually mark your edits as being minor in the usual way.

For established users such as yourself there is a workaround available involving custom JavaScript. With the script in place, you can continue with this functionality indefinitely (its use is governed by WP:MINOR). If you have any problems, feel free to drop me a note.

Thank you for your understanding and happy editing :) Editing on behalf of User:Jarry1250, LivingBot (talk) 18:09, 15 March 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Wikipedia:WikiProject Kilkenny, a page you substantially contributed to, has been nominated for deletion. Your opinions on the matter are welcome; please participate in the discussion by adding your comments at Wikipedia:Miscellany for deletion/Wikipedia:WikiProject Kilkenny and please be sure to sign your comments with four tildes (~~~~). You are free to edit the content of Wikipedia:WikiProject Kilkenny during the discussion but should not remove the miscellany for deletion template from the top of the page; such a removal will not end the deletion discussion. Thank you. BrownHairedGirl (talk) • (contribs) 16:24, 1 April 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Poll on ArbCom resolution - Ireland article names[edit]

There is a poll taking place here on whether or not to extend the ArbCom binding resolution, which says there may be no page move discussions for Ireland,Republic of Ireland or Ireland (disambiguation), for a further two years. Fmph (talk) 21:49, 22 September 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Talk:Mackdonald Language Academy[edit]

On Talk:Mackdonald Language Academy you wrote "I think delete."

In order for your opinion to be taken into consideration by an administrator, please add the {{Prod2}} template to Mackdonald Language Academy immediately below the end of the mult-line {{Proposed deletion}} template and immediately above the {{notability}} template.

There is no requirement that you make this change: If the "Proposed deletion" template is still on the page after 23:13, 26 May 2013 (UTC), an administrator will likely delete it according to the rules outlined in WP:Proposed deletion. davidwr/(talk)/(contribs)/(e-mail) 19:13, 25 May 2013 (UTC)[reply]

A Wikimeet is proposed for Northern Ireland in the next few months. If you have never been to one, this is an opportunity to meet other Wikipedians in an informal atmosphere for Wiki and non-Wiki related chat and for beer or food if you like. Most take place on a Sunday afternoon in a suitable pub but other days and locations can also work. Experienced and new contributors are all welcome. This event is definitely not restricted just to discussion of Northern Ireland topics. Please add your suggestions for place and date to the discussion page here: Proposed Northern Ireland Wiki Meetup. Philafrenzy (talk) 12:14, 19 July 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Hey there,

I think you created this page - and I know it was a while ago - but I just noticed the text here and on the Dicksboro GAA website are the same. Can you change this or show that you have the right to use this text - otherwise it's a copyvio and the page could get deleted.-- 🍺 Antiqueight confer 22:53, 24 October 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Hi, just got this.

  1. I am sure my initial version initial version had NO copyvio.
  2. I will look at the edit history and see where this copyvio issue arises.
  3. I made some changes to try and remove copyvio.
  4. Be bold and edit, not be bold and delete.

Mrchris (talk) 00:55, 1 November 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Cool - I'd edit but I know nothing about Dicksboro GAA so I figured if you were around and saw the comment you might be able to do something about it. If I didn't see an update I thought I'd come back and have a go - I had forgotten the possibly simpler option of reverting to an earlier version. And of course it does assume the copy vio wasn't someone copying the Wikipedia content onto their website. I did think it possible that you were the author of both this page and the GAA website though which is what I really meant.. I can't even remember how I came across it..But it struck me that of all the contributors to the page you would have the greatest interest in fixing it. I should have put it better though - I do apologise for the phrasing above.-- 🍺 Antiqueight confer 01:06, 1 November 2013 (UTC)[reply]
Lovely, sorry if I was abrupt, I do understand. If you see any other Kilkenny related pages with issues do let me know. I will try to have a go at researching and fixing it up a bit one of these days. I am sure whoever added all the text did it in good faith, and could well be the same person from the website. Anyways, hope is is ok for now. Have a good evening, thanks chris ;o) Mrchris (talk) 01:15, 1 November 2013 (UTC)[reply]
No worries and will do. Might use Kilkenny as a search term one of these days and see what comes up..Happy Halloween -- 🍺 Antiqueight confer 01:21, 1 November 2013 (UTC)[reply]

A tag has been placed on File:Ireland map County Kilkenny Magnified.png requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section F2 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because it is an image page for a missing or corrupt image or an empty image description page for a Commons-hosted image.

If you think this page should not be deleted for this reason, you may contest the nomination by visiting the page and clicking the button labelled "Contest this speedy deletion". This will give you the opportunity to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. However, be aware that once a page is tagged for speedy deletion, it may be removed without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag from the page yourself, but do not hesitate to add information in line with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. Hi, at Wikipedia:The 10,000 Challenge we're striving to bring about 10,000 article improvements and creations for the UK and Ireland and inspire others to create more content. In order to achieve this we need diversity of content, in all parts of the UK and Ireland on all topics. Eventually a regional contest will be held for all parts of the British Isles, like they were for Wales and the Wedt Country. We currently have just over 1900 articles and need contributors! If you think you'd be interested in collaborating on this and helping reach the target quicker, please sign up and begin listing your entries there as soon as possible! Thanks.♦ --MediaWiki message delivery (talk) 13:40, 28 September 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Europe 10,000 Challenge invite[edit]

Hi. The Wikipedia:WikiProject Europe/The 10,000 Challenge has recently started, based on the UK/Ireland Wikipedia:The 10,000 Challenge. The idea is not to record every minor edit, but to create a momentum to motivate editors to produce good content improvements and creations and inspire people to work on more countries than they might otherwise work on. There's also the possibility of establishing smaller country or regional challenges for places like Germany, Italy, the Benelux countries, Iberian Peninsula, Romania, Slovenia etc, much like Wikipedia:The 1000 Challenge (Nordic). For this to really work we need diversity and exciting content and editors from a broad range of countries regularly contributing. If you would like to see masses of articles being improved for Europe and your specialist country like Wikipedia:WikiProject Africa/The Africa Destubathon, sign up today and once the challenge starts a contest can be organized. This is a way we can target every country of Europe, and steadily vastly improve the encyclopedia. We need numbers to make this work so consider signing up as a participant and also sign under any country sub challenge on the page that you might contribute to! Thank you. --MediaWiki message delivery (talk) 21:09, 7 November 2016 (UTC)[reply]
