My RfA

Thank you for your very well-written nomination. Unfortunately, the "crowd" doesn't like many noms, for several reasons, and I agree with some of them. Therefore, I have only accepted three of the noms. Please don't take this the wrong way, Marcos. I truly respect you and thank you for your beautiful words. I hope to see them once again in the RfA :-) Perdón, mano, pero hay que complacerlos. Tu sabes como es la cosa. Happy editing! --Agüeybaná 15:23, 7 October 2007 (UTC)

Overlistification

I had already converted it into an essay ages ago when I realized inclusionists were trying to tear it apart so that the continued list-deletions would stop. I honestly think there can be no progress because I already asked 20 different people to help change it so that it fits a more general view. Instead inclusionists just bitch that it was written by one person and ask it be deleted. Sigh - that's the world of deletionist vs inclusionist. Bulldog123 20:06, 11 October 2007 (UTC)

  • That certainly seems like the only way to go about. And I'm generally fine with that. It just really gets irritating when inclusionists starting canvassing their friends on Afds/Cfds and soon the entire thing ends in a "no consensus" default keep against true consensus. That's happened enough for me to try to write an WP:OLIST. Though I have yet to find anyone would would willingly co-write it (edit it) with me. Bulldog123 03:19, 12 October 2007 (UTC)

Re:Redirect

Hi. What a coincidence, I just imagined the "new messeges" tab today and I got it. Well, I thought, "Wikipedia Day" is January 15. Comet McNaught peaked in brightness at around that time. I doubt very many people will be searching for it, the "Wikipedia Day" comet, so if it isn't good enough for a proper redirect, delete it. After all, my account was barely 3 months old when I created that redirect. It's like calling the Indian Ocean tsunami the "Indian Christmas tsunami", or the like. If you don't like it, feel free to RfD it. Thanks. ~AH1(TCU) 02:02, 14 October 2007 (UTC)

Speedy deletion of Caribbean School

A tag has been placed on Caribbean School, requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia per CSD A7.

Under the criteria for speedy deletion, articles that do not meet basic Wikipedia criteria may be deleted at any time. Please see the guidelines for what is generally accepted as an appropriate article, and if you can indicate why the subject of this article is appropriate, you may contest the tagging. To do this, add {{hangon}} on the top of the article and leave a note on the article's talk page explaining your position. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but don't hesitate to add information to the article that would confirm its subject's notability under the guidelines.

If you think that this notice was placed here in error, you may contest the deletion. To do this, add {{hangon}} on the top of the page (just below the existing speedy deletion or "db" tag) and leave a note on the page's talk page explaining your position. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself. Rjd0060 04:13, 15 October 2007 (UTC)

WP:RAD

Hey, I just got your note saying my redirect was deleted. I was wondering if that could be reinstated? I use the redirect in my signature and will change it to a more appropriate term, since you deem it unacceptable, but for now, this means that anybody trying to use my name in my signature is unable, and this makes matter difficult for any discussions I've had in recent weeks. Quite frankly, I would have liked some notice, as this was definitely not a candidate for speedy deletion. If you use the "what links here" function, you'll see there are several hundred uses of it, and it's (no offence meant) quite inconsiderate to speedily delete something that frequently used. --lincalinca 03:11, 16 October 2007 (UTC)

I by no means am conceited enough to believe that I'm a "supereditor" or am entitled to anything greater than other editors, but a little bit of leniency for a couple of weeks to allow for any signatures I've already posted to be able to work. Your suggestion of a bot is a good one, but I don't have a bot, bot approval and most importantly, no idea how to run one. If you could put something in for that, my argument is over, but otherwise, just a little bit of amnesty is all I ask. As to the nominator letting me know, that never happened. And I changed it as soon as I read your message, hoping to avert any issues that may arise. --lincalinca 05:07, 16 October 2007 (UTC)
Thanks for that champ! --lincalinca 10:03, 17 October 2007 (UTC)

Xavier Romeu

== Please refer to the entry on Xavier Romeu.

The most important issue surrounding the biography of Mr. Romeu is the fact that he will go on trial on Monday October 22, 2007. The entries are designed to influence public opinion and sway the jury in a particular direction. These have been carefully and diligently engineered by those opposed to Mr. Romeu's ideals. All these matters should be vented in court and allow a judge and a jury of his peers be the final arbiter of truth. The trial should not be held using Wikipedia as its venue. It is unfair and potentially libelous for Wikipedia to continue publishing opinions, which are in turn supported by articles with a particular political bent and not based on factual evidence.

May I suggest that we simply state the basic facts about his education and his positions while in government service. Anything else would be a unfair.

Mr. Romeu's freedom is at stake. Wikipedia should exercise its responsability as the fair publisher we all know it to be..

I strongly urge not to run the page in its current statBarendfabritius 03:12, 21 October 2007 (UTC)e exactly while his case is being heard by a court.

Xavier Romeu

Hi Mtmelendez: I strongly disagree with Barendfabritius' statements above. The current article summarizes undisputed facts and presents a NPOV. The fact that Mr. Romeu has been investigated for certain actions does not need to be vented anywhere. It happened. Quoted sources (which are being constantly erased by vandals) include the Associated Press and WOW News (which is affiliated to mainstream, conservative leaning Casiano Communications). How is the article libelous? To state that someone is trying to sway a Romeu jury through Wikipedia contributions also seems a bit of a stretch.

I welcome your intervention as well as NPOV contributions from responsible wiki contributors… but the edits by some of these vandals are shameless political propaganda and completely against wiki policies.

I look forward to the continued improvement of this and all Puerto Rico related articles.

Oh wow! Im sorry, I didn't know. I have no Idea which ones are fair use, so could you please remove the ones that aren't from my page? If you could that would be so helpful! Thanks! Flamingtorch372 12:02, 24 October 2007 (UTC)

I have a question. Is there a quick and easy way for telling if something is fair use? Cause sometimes I make random userboxes and I want to make sure the pics I use are alright to use. Thanks! Flamingtorch372 02:49, 25 October 2007 (UTC)

Ok, one last question for now. Would this picture be free to use on my page? Image:Jimi Hendrix Statue(2).jpg Flamingtorch372 20:53, 25 October 2007 (UTC)

Hello, this is a message from an automated bot. A tag has been placed on Comisión Independiente de Ciudadanos para Evaluar Transacciones Gubernamentales, by another Wikipedia user, requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. The tag claims that it should be speedily deleted because Comisión Independiente de Ciudadanos para Evaluar Transacciones Gubernamentales is a redirect to a non-existent page (CSD R1).

To contest the tagging and request that administrators wait before possibly deleting Comisión Independiente de Ciudadanos para Evaluar Transacciones Gubernamentales, please affix the template {{hangon}} to the page, and put a note on its talk page. If the article has already been deleted, see the advice and instructions at WP:WMD. Feel free to contact the bot operator if you have any questions about this or any problems with this bot, bearing in mind that this bot is only informing you of the nomination for speedy deletion; it does not perform any nominations or deletions itself. I removed unsourced, possibly inflammatory information in the article. "Among the controversies were Mr. Romeu's use of government credit cards for personal expenses and the creation and management of the PRIIF."

Lets extract the "extravagant" which is subjective. What do you think?

Source for second removed statement: The Committee concluded that Mr. Romeu improperly disbursed approximately $30 million in PRIIF funds to private companies by issuing 24 grant checks during the last two days of December 2000 after his New Progressive Party (PNP) lost the general elections in November

The fact that Mr. Romeu has been investigated for these actions and that the committe concluded there were imporpiaties is a fact and is not subject to interpretation. I repectfully request you consider reverting your latest edits now that the statements have been properly sourced.

I noticed you recently deleted Talk:Plantscience (rightly), I noticed because I had erroneously placed a welcome message there to User:Plantscience who has his or her signature linked to Plantscience. I've left a new welcome message for the user on User_talk:Plantscience in which I point this out. Is it appropriate for me to change the signatures on Wikipedia:WikiProject Agriculture (two of only four edits by this user) to link to the correct User_talk page? hi Mt - about the U.S. Open move

So... it's a good thing that you fixed the problem. Now U.S. and U.S . both go to the US page. The bad thing is that this is not the proper name for the tournament. It should be U.S. Open Can you move the US to the U.S. page? And can you tell me how to do that without killing all redirects, etc.? Ok so how do we change the US Open page to rename it U.S. Open? US is not correct as U.S. and U.S.A. are both acronyms with periods between. It's not like NASA or something. It's U.S.
I can't move the article because the U.S. Open page already exists. Does it need to be deleted so that the US Open can be moved to U.S. Open title? GoldenGoose100 12:12, 13 November 2007 (UTC)

Mainspace vs total edits in Arbitration_Committee_Elections_December_2007/Vote

I saw your comment on the talk page of [2].

The instructions state:

In order to vote, you must have an account registered with at least 150 mainspace edits before the start of the nomination process 1 November 2007.

If you have multiple accounts, you may only vote with one. Voting with multiple accounts will result in all your votes being declared void and a possible block on all accounts.

To check when your account was created, go to the user creation log, and enter your username in the "User" field. To check your number of edits, see number of edits in your user preferences.

The number of edits in the user preferences is not the same as the number of mainspace edits unless a users edits only in mainspace and the check on number of edits using the instuctions above will not tell a user if they have the correct number of main space edits.Uncle uncle uncle (talk) 03:32, 21 November 2007 (UTC)

Cybergun Article removal

I do not understand how the inclusion of Information of the current Cybergun Ban (November 19th) would be classified for the reason you had removed them. This is a legitimate boycott supported by Airsoft Hobbyists and to remove the entry created only acts as a greater disservice to Airsofters. The issue is an important one facing US Airsofters and the company being boycotted has caused trouble for airsoft in other countries.

Deleting talk pages

Hi. I see you've been deleting the talk pages of cricketers where there is no article on them (Graham Botting, Mayu Pasupati). You're quite right to do so, but if you felt it appropriate there is an alternative: you could convert the talk pages into the articles, since that's what they actually are. In WP:CRIC we have a sporadic, probably antipodean contributor operating from different IP addresses who creates one or two new articles on first-class cricketers most days - but then always puts them on a talk page rather than an article page. The articles are brief and not terribly valuable (and occasionally include a bit of mischief). But in that one of the long-term aims of the cricket project is to create an article for every first-class cricketer (which is the definition of notability in this area) then the articles probably have to be created at some stage, so it's a start. We've tried putting notices up to get this contributor to do it properly (and I'll do it again today), but to no avail so far, and he changes IP address constantly. A couple of us regularly trawl through to see what he's been doing and to move his new articles to the proper place: you're welcome to join in. Johnlp (talk) 09:17, 29 November 2007 (UTC)

Don't apologise: you're not doing anything wrong. The guy is a menace in that he creates work for good-hearted people like you (and me)! And thanks for offering to help. Johnlp (talk) 10:56, 29 November 2007 (UTC)
