- It has been my understanding that if an anon vandal vandalizes within a reasonable period of a last warning (24 hours would qualify) that the ip is subject to block. Since the IP seemed to be on a rampage yesterday and received the whole range of warnings it was reasonable to submit the IP for block today only 15 hours after the last warning. - The user was blocked by another administrator, I would not have done it. Outright vandalism is not the enemy of Wikipedia; subtle and sneaky vandalism is. The user, who probably was a newbie, would change into a troll and would contribute even more destructively. Sometimes, we just should not bite them, lest they become trolls. - Thank you for your concern, Mufka. I have reviewed Wikipedia's policy on usernames, and I don't think that mine falls in any of the categories of inappropriate names. Most bots I have seen include the suffix "-bot" and I have seen none with the prefix "wiki". - Hmmm the last time I did that, I think it was after a progressive blanking pattern (means, blanking litle part by litle part, to avoid detection by our software), when I see that "pattern" I asked on irc wich warning would be appropriate, and told them about test4im ("Only warning" instead of last warning) and first they told me test3 then said "oh forgot about it, take this one"). The protection did work, the developers put in the ability to expire protection when it is placed. I just sprotected for two days since vandals usually lose interest. re. the 'Acid' edit: I was just trying to roll back to a version that had not been vandalized. I wound up doing 3 rollbacks, as there was multiple instances, and someone was actively vandalizeing while I was in the process of rolling back. I noticed that you posted a comment on Village Pump about the ambiguous nature of user talk page usage policy. I'm of the opinion that user talk pages are a community resource, especially in the case of vandalism warnings. I'm planning to initiate discussion on the possibility of defining a policy on what is and what is not proper behavior when it comes to deleting vandalism warnings on one's own talk page. - I am interested. I would have two main goals.
- Keep persistent vandals from succeeding in deleting warnings.
- Convince people to keep in progress conversations on their talk page rather than deleting new posts immediately "to show they have been read." I would prefer to see everyone archive their talk pages and wait for conversations to age first. (However, I am all for them deleting immediately personal attacks and related posts. It is amazing how often User:AntiVandalBot and User talk:AntiVandalBot were vandalized by someone claiming the bot was itself a vandal back in December.)

- I'm also interested. I also think that they are community records and they are a record of communication. That communication should not have to be hard for people to go through. While a low volume talk page can be easy to go back and view a removed warning, could you imagine digging through your talk page for one? or mine? I think we should start with something simple, like all valid communication should never be deleted from talk pages, only archived. Then also reach a consensus on appropriate archiving time, i.e. 7 days unless a discussion is of particular size and at least 3 days old.--Crossmr 03:22, 27 February 2007 (UTC)

I declined your speedy deletion proposal on the above article because I didn't believe it was patent nonsense as you tagged it. It may also have been written by someone for whom English is not a first language, and the term may be being used in Chinese or another language other than English. Although I didn't feel quite comfortable speedying it, you are definitely free to tag the article, leave a note on the creator's talkpage, or prod it to make sure that if we wind up keeping the article it meets our standards. Reguarding "Dodge Hornet"
This specific part I had never added, I just rearranged it, and added the first paragraph from it

The Hornet name comes from the AMC Hornet that was built by American Motors from 1970-1977. AMC was acquired by Chrysler (Dodge's parent) in 1987."

Thanks for your message about reverting the edit about early Blackpool history. I did notice the coyrighted source only after I added it. If however, the early history of Blackpool was added but without using the exact wording from that source, in other words reworded, or used from a non-copyright source, would that be acceptable? IP messages bar
Hi, I just searched at bugzilla and I found the bug that we just experienced [4]. The problem for me is that the new messages bar won't show up no matter how many pages I browse on a IP address. While for you, the problem is the opposite (orange bar stays stuck). This problem is also more widespread than I though it was as evidenced here:

It's Harebag, Mufka. I recently joined newpages patroller. Anyway I found two users who think they can use Wikipedia as they see it. Their names are User:Ethioprincess7 and User:76.64.32.127. I taged their article for speedy deletion. It's name was Rahwa Leakemariam. I am not trying to make trouble but I know Wikipedia doesn't allow this kind of behavior. I admit I've got very angry at times but I've tried to follow the guidelines. I would appreciate it if you would keep me anonymous, I don't want them to vandalise my articles. I admit and apolgize for using JV17 disruptivly in edit wars. If you want to report me or not it is up to you. If you do not however I promise to do the following,
- 1.Never be involved in a edit war again.
- 2.Never use JV17 again.
- 3.If I use another user account I will use it constructivly and not in disputes.
- 4.If another editor marks my article for deletion, notability, etc, I will not attack them, instead I will put a comment explaining myself on the discussion page.

Many people of Asian descent may find this particular analogy racially offensive. To many people of particular Asian ethnic origins Genghis Khan is revered as great warrior and leader who created one of the largest and most important empires in world history. The contributions of the Mongols eventually had a considerable positive impact on the cultural, political and social development of Central Asia, East Asia and Asia Minor. Yes I do agree with the jurisprudence principle of absolute truth as a defense in libel law and one could just as easily use the analogy: the Thomas Jefferson School of Antebellum Southern Plantation Management awarding a PhD in the Abolition of Slavery, and made the same point. I was simply pointing out that any historic figures' contribution to the development of civilization when viewed in the context of the fog of history can either be held in great esteem or diminished as a villain according to ones nationalistic ideology and ethnic identity. Ther are too many people who will just run in and delete a db tag solely on the basis that there is nothing at WP:CSD which allows a speedy deletion for the subject matter, without bothering to change it to an AfD. - I have no fear of being admonished for violation of WP:3RR by any prudent and thoughtful admin. Reverting vandalism is a clear exception and the edits to the July 21 article clearly violate the guidelines set forth for that Wikicalendar article as relates to the posting of future events. - Do you know how long it will take the Communications Committee to give a yes/no answer? Since the email/permission is directly from the Newtown History Center (their email address, replied to mine, forwarded to Wiki) I don't think it will be a problem, but until I know what is going on, I don't want to start anything else on the page and I have alot that still needs to be done.
- Right now, I am working with the Virginia Historical Society to get some information on the charter/founding, among other topics on Stephensburgh (later Stephens City). I might actually make a trip down there.
- So, I am honestly trying to add all the possible references and sources. Things are just moving slowly, which is teh part that bugs me, I guess. So, please don't think I am edit warring or 3RR'ing, I am honestly trying. After I sent it yesterday, I readded "in good faith", since the permission had been sent in. Wikicalendar/NYT link bot
Hello Mufka,
I just wanted to give you a quick update on the status of the bot: I did file a request for approval with the bot approvals group as required by our bot policy (this isn't a task my bot was previously approved for) and started writing the code for the bot. It was then helpfully pointed out to me that the same result could be achieved using some rather clever template parser functions that modify the link based on the current date. Since that solution is far more elegant and also easier on the servers, I withdrew my request.
I would be happy to help replace the NYT links with the template, if there's consensus that this should be done. I think a next good step would be to bring this to the attention of the Days of the year WikiProject. What do you think? Cheers S up? 17:30, 27 July 2007 (UTC)

I noticed that you deleted a recent addition to events on July 18. I had nothing to do with that edit, but it seems to me that the event you deleted is significant enough (only 16 perfect games in the first 100+ years of baseball), plus there is no other entry in 1999. If in 2009 someone is looking for a "10 years ago today" item, why not give them this? Vandalism from this IP address
Thanks for your message which I encountered while browsing Wikipedia this morning.
This IP is in use by a large office building in Glasgow, Scotland. I have no hope of establishing which employee here is actually responsible for the vandalism you have had to revert. However judging from other messages directed at this IP, it is a recurrent problem; so if you have any ability to prevent this IP from making any further edits to Wikipedia I would encourage you to go ahead and do it.
