Prospective reviewer for AfroCreatives WikiProject campaign

Dear User:Munfarid1,

I hope this finds you well.

After a quiet period since the 2022 launch of AfroCreatives WikiProject (ACWP), The Africa Narrative (TAN) is gearing up for a busy 2024 with the roll-out of a series of initiatives as well as a robust buildout of the ACWP activities.  First up on the calendar of 2024 Edit-a-thons is a pan-African campaign in partnership with FESPACO, Africa’s largest film festival.

To enable us to ensure the participants contribute quality articles to English/French Wikipedia, we would love to solicit your help as a reviewer, as you are very knowledgeable in that field.

As a reviewer, you would check through the sandboxes of the participants contributing to English/French Wikipedia to review the articles they create to ensure it’s in line with the English/French Wikipedia guidelines.

The campaign will run from 18th May to 1st June 2024.

If you would love to be a reviewer for either of the Wikipedia, please reply to this to confirm your willingness.

Regards,

Ceslause Ogbonnaya

DYK for Myanmar Photo Archive

On 22 March 2024, Did you know was updated with a fact from the article Myanmar Photo Archive, which you recently created, substantially expanded, or brought to good article status. The fact was ... that the Myanmar Photo Archive (photograph pictured) revealed "a side of modern Myanmar that, until very recently, remained hidden in dusty attics"? The nomination discussion and review may be seen at Template:Did you know nominations/Myanmar Photo Archive. You are welcome to check how many pageviews the nominated article or articles got while on the front page (here's how, Myanmar Photo Archive), and the hook may be added to the statistics page after its run on the Main Page has completed. Finally, if you know of an interesting fact from another recently created article, then please feel free to suggest it on the Did you know talk page.

Some falafel for you!

nice work on Faraj Bayrakdar FuzzyMagma (talk) 14:56, 6 April 2024 (UTC)
@FuzzyMagma Thanks mate, didn't know you are also interested in Syrian authors. I lived in Damascus for several years and therefore have a special relationship with righteous people from that country. - Just like my personal experience from Sudan. Munfarid1 (talk) 16:35, 6 April 2024 (UTC)
it seems like you have been everywhere, and met really interesting people. You either an excellent BND agent or a very wholesome person (evidently the latter). Did you get the chance to visit Sudan? FuzzyMagma (talk) 09:43, 7 April 2024 (UTC)
Haha, and thanks for seeing me as a very holesome person, just like you are! - Yes I have also lived as director of the German cultural centre in Khartoum for 4 years before the war. It was a great time meeting many righteous and active Sudanese. So now, my heart is bleeding for two countries devastated by war and ruthless military tearing apart. Munfarid1 (talk) 11:45, 7 April 2024 (UTC)
Goethe-Institut Sudan! we probably have many people in common. And yup, it is something I have never imagined to be honest. What a missed opportunity for better Sudan, now back to square -1000 (not even zero) FuzzyMagma (talk) 12:03, 7 April 2024 (UTC)
Yes, you are probably right. It will take many years for people and the country to get back on their feet, and that only after the fighting will have stopped. I also fear that the general equanimity and friendly disposition of most Sudanese that I have appreciated so much will be gone... Munfarid1 (talk) 14:20, 7 April 2024 (UTC)

I have sent you a note about a page you started

Hello, Munfarid1. Thank you for your work on Myanmar Photo Archive. Netherzone, while examining this page as a part of our page curation process, had the following comments:

I've finished cleaning up the tone and concision of the article and have marked it as reviewed. Also some copy editing was done to make the article more about the archive itself rather than the founder (who has their own WP-linked article for readers to learn more about him if interested.) If another reviewer disagrees with this decision, or it was premature in relation to the DYK hook selection) they can mark as unreviewed. Nice collaboration on this article on an important archive.

To reply, leave a comment here and begin it with {{Re|Netherzone}}. Please remember to sign your reply with ~~~~. (Message delivered via the Page Curation tool, on behalf of the reviewer.)

Netherzone (talk) 13:43, 5 March 2024 (UTC)

Hello, @Netherzone: thanks again for your very helpful advice and diligent copy editing. If I remember corrcectly, we have collaborated before, and I would be pleased, if another such occasion came our way. Thanks, too, for your appreciation of the articlce's subject matter, which is why we put a lot of research, writing and editing into this, after all. Now, I am looking forward for it to appear on DYK. Best, Munfarid1 (talk) 14:17, 5 March 2024 (UTC)

Salah Elmur and museums in Paris

Thanks, FuzzyMagma, now this looks quite a bit better and notable. - BTW, you might enjoy a look at Salah Elmur and the external links, which I have updated. His paintings are getting more and more recognition (and expensive, I guess). On his FB page, he announced a large mural he painted recently for the Museum of Modern Art! I will look out for a source on this and include it ASAP. Munfarid1 (talk) 19:30, 14 April 2024 (UTC)
first time to come across Salah Elmur, and frankly I like his work! you are a man with a good taste.
I am planning to visit Paris sometime in September for the Fête de l'Humanité and will make sure to take some photos for that moral. FuzzyMagma (talk) 20:18, 20 April 2024 (UTC)
Hi again, glad you like Salah Elmur's paintings, too. As far as I know, there are no paintings by him on permanent display in Paris. The Museum of Modern Art is in New York. But when in Paris, you probably know the Institut du Monde Arabe, they have a great bookshop and often good exhibitions and events. My favourite museum in Paris is the Musée du Quay Branly, the best ethnographic museum in all of Europe. BTW have you seen the great pictures a friend of mine uploaded for this article?
