Welcome to WikiProject Trains[edit]

Hello and welcome to the Trains WikiProject! Thank you for adding your name to our project membership list. Our goal is to build the most comprehensive and detailed guide to rail transport on Wikipedia. As a project member, you may add the project membership userbox to your user page if you wish.

If you haven't done so already, please add our main project page to your watchlist and take some time to review the Trains project manual of style where we have collected guidelines and suggestions on notability and style for a consistent representation of rail transport related material. If you're curious about where to start, we've gathered a few suggestions in the Trains project to do list. If you'd like to specialize in a particular area of study within rail transport, take a look at the current Trains project task forces.

If you have any questions, please feel free to ask on the project talk page or on my talk page. Again, welcome and happy editing! Slambo (Speak) 12:06, 27 December 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Infobox Station[edit]

Just a note, you don't need to add {{s-start}} to the services parameter of {{Infobox Station}}; the template imitates it. You can start routebox code within that template with just {{s-rail}}. Best, Mackensen (talk) 07:05, 21 January 2008 (UTC)[reply]

  • Thanks, I'll keep that in mind next time. Murjax (talk) 21:24, 21 January 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Penn Station pictures[edit]

I took the pictures of the sections of Penn Station myself. I don't know whether I will go to Penn Station or not someday, but I'm sure that I will go there eventually (and take more pictures). NHRHS2010NHRHS2010 13:06, 27 January 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Regional[edit]

Just a note, I've added "Regional" as an alternative name for the Northeast Regional, so any stations which have "Regional" in their boxes will display the new name. Best, Mackensen (talk) 02:21, 10 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]

  • Thanks a lot, you just saved me a lot of work. Murjax (talk) 05:14, 10 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Barnstar![edit]

The Tireless Contributor Barnstar
I am awarding you this barnstar, since you are doing great work on train-related articles and doing many of the minor changes. I have even seen you start new pages as well. Keep up the good work! NHRHS2010 |  Talk to me  22:33, 13 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Jacksonville Amtrak Station[edit]

I'm glad you finally got to add a picture of Jacksonville (Amtrak station). For the record, there are even better views of the station from trackside. ----DanTD (talk) 22:11, 30 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Amtrak Carolinian & Palmetto line templates[edit]

Those line templates you created are missing two stations; Selma-Smithfield (Amtrak station) and Wilson (Amtrak station). If I knew where they were independent of the lines, I'd fix that. ----DanTD (talk) 20:20, 19 May 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Why you moved the services to infobox? Otolemur crassicaudatus (talk) 17:21, 23 May 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Baltimore Light Rail Stops[edit]

Did you create the Category:Baltimore Light Rail Stops as a redlink, or did I do that? ----DanTD (talk) 01:06, 2 July 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Need your help[edit]

Hi there Murjax, so you like the cold weather hey? wow you must be one of the rare ones, i cant stand it and where i live it doesn't get that cold compared to the country where you live :P I guess you must hate living in Florida then :) Just asking for your help in relation to Yemassee (Amtrak station), theres a stray: | width="33.33%" align="left" valign="top" |

|}

at the bottom of the article which hopefully you can fix up. Thanks Monster Under Your Bed (talk) 05:00, 27 July 2008 (UTC)[reply]

I didn't forrget the services. I deliberatley took them out because the NRHP sections get too small when you put the routebox in. ----DanTD (talk) 15:54, 31 July 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Okay, but it's still a pain in the ass. Is there anyway you can make those boxes smaller? ----DanTD (talk) 16:59, 31 July 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Others[edit]

You know, for Windsor, Connecticut (Amtrak station) and Wallingford (Amtrak station) it seemed to work out fine, compared to the rest. One station that rerally needs to have the railroad & NRHP infoboxes combined is Eugene (Amtrak station). ----DanTD (talk) 20:55, 3 August 2008 (UTC)[reply]

  • It looks like on Windsor, Connecticut (Amtrak station) and Wallingford (Amtrak station) you have managed to eliminate the NRHP box itself leaving the info in the infobox only. It seems that taking the inner box out of the infobox, everything evens out. I can't figure out what exactly you did differently though. Murjax (talk) 21:44, 3 August 2008 (UTC)[reply]
    • I don't know how you came to that conclusion. I just blended the two together for Windsor, and swiped the Windsor infobox for Walllingford. The only real difference between the two is the lack of an image for Wallingford. ----DanTD (talk) 23:51, 3 August 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Mentioned on YouTube[edit]

I just found a reply to a YouTube video, where somebody either mentioned your screen name, or somebody with an identical one as you(http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=keep6yTRlS8&feature=channel_page). ----DanTD (talk) 23:42, 2 April 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Fredericksburg (Amtrak station)[edit]

I hope the image of the cracked railroad bridge that BaomoVW posted isn't the thing that's keeping people away. ----DanTD (talk) 02:56, 7 June 2009 (UTC)[reply]

We can swipe them from TrainWeb? You're kidding. Either way, I'd rather take my own pics, just on principle. I recently captured some of Dillon (Amtrak station), Ashland, Virginia (Amtrak station), Aberdeen (Amtrak station), and Perryville (MARC station), not to mention a few more LIRR station images that I can't upload just yet. ----DanTD (talk) 17:12, 11 June 2009 (UTC)[reply]
I have an idea; The next time I drive up north, I'll stop in Fredericksburg and take a picture of the station myself... unless you intend to do so first, or somebody else beats me to it. ----DanTD (talk) 00:10, 28 July 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Northeast Regional split templates[edit]

How are you going to fix the Amtrak Northeast Regional split routeboxes on stations north of Alexandria Union Station? ----DanTD (talk) 22:14, 5 September 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Wilmington Station (Delaware)[edit]

Hello. I've reverted your attempt to move Wilmington Station (Delaware) by cutting and pasting. That method is discouraged on Wikipedia. Please see WP:MOVE and WP:CUTPASTE - "When a cut-and-paste move is done, the page history of an article or talk page can be split among two or more different pages. This is very undesirable, because we need to keep the history with the content for copyright reasons." (Besides, you left the talk page behind at the old title.) Once the current discussion at Talk:Wilmington Station (Delaware) is complete, an administrator can move the page properly if that's the consensus, without losing the history. Station1 (talk) 00:16, 6 September 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Congratulations[edit]

Not only that we know each other on YouTube, but I also noticed that you are getting better at using Wikipedia on top of your hard work on train-related articles and templates that are part of WikiProject Trains. Keep up the good work! NHRHS2010 |  Talk to me  00:48, 6 September 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Florida Railroad Station source[edit]

If you're still interested in the railroads of Florida, I've got a great book called "Images of Rail: Railroad Depots of Central Florida," by Michael Mulligan. The trouble is, it's an Inter-Library Loan, and I have to return it on November 12. Either way, the info is useful for Wikipedia articles. ----DanTD (talk) 22:35, 4 November 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Hartford Union Station[edit]

I was just able to move the article back to Hartford Union Station, and did so. I saw your edit summary about preferring "Union Station (Hartford)" or something like that, due to what your edit summary stated was some general preference. But, here, the article is about a place which appears to be explicitly named Hartford Union Station. There may be good reason to have "Union Station (Hartford)" appear in some list-article elsewhere, but that can pipelink to the article which should be located at the common name of the place. Anyhow, there is at least some disagreement about a rename, so if you wish to bring about a move, could you please use the wp:RM service and have a Talk page discussion? doncram (talk) 23:04, 10 January 2010 (UTC)[reply]

The Railways Barnstar
Nice work on continuing to add pages and updating existing ones! NHRHS2010 |  Talk to me  01:31, 4 March 2010 (UTC)[reply]
  • Thanks!

I think you did a great job with the edits for St. Johns County Road 210 in Florida.

As a sailor in the United States Navy -- stationed near Jacksonville, Florida, I don't have lots of time to be able to edit my favorite articles. Or else, I could have done something similar.

While I'm gone[edit]

Hey,

I was wondering: While I'm gone on deployment -- I leave on Friday and come back in October -- could you watch my User:Morriswa/Highways page? This is copied from a Microsoft Excel spreadsheet that I have. I don't know if I will be able to get on to the Internet while I'm gone, and I don't want anyone to vandalize my page.

Also, if you could make my page look as identical to my original spreadsheet as possible, that would be wonderful. How do I send it to you.

I would really appreciate the help with these matters.

Allen 23:57, 21 April 2010 (UTC)

Unfortunately, my ship's network settings prevent me from sending the file. It is too large. What else can I do? If at all possible, I'd like my Wikipedia page to look as close as the Excel spreadsheet as possible before I get back in October.

Any suggestions?

Allen 10:43, 22 April 2010 (UTC)

Well, I have a solution. If you go to this page, then you can download my entire Microsoft Excel 2003 workbook. I hope you can work a miracle on my page. THANKS!

The article National Train Day has been proposed for deletion because of the following concern:

No mention that this "holiday" has been the subject of significant coverage in non-Amtrak reliable sources.

While all contributions to Wikipedia are appreciated, content or articles may be deleted for any of several reasons.

You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{dated prod}} notice, but please explain why in your edit summary or on the article's talk page.

Please consider improving the article to address the issues raised. Removing {{dated prod}} will stop the proposed deletion process, but other deletion processes exist. SEPTA Regional Rail[edit]

Please stop splitting SEPTA Regional Rail articles immediately!!! The correct names, as linked from all the pages, do not have the SEPTA suffix, except for Trenton, West Trenton, and Airport. We need an administrator to deal with this because User:DanTD chapterized the redirect, creating an additional history entry and making it impossible to move the pages over the redirect.

Also, I created infobox maps. Look in the category with all the SEPTA diagrams.

Thanks. Train2104 (talk) 00:31, 27 July 2010 (UTC)[reply]

I don't see why it's so difficult to just scan the chapters on the appropriate line and move them to the redirected sections. ----DanTD (talk) 01:23, 27 July 2010 (UTC)[reply]

A tag has been placed on River Works (MBTA station) requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section A7 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the article appears to be about an organization or company, but it does not indicate how or why the subject is important or significant: that is, why an article about that subject should be included in an encyclopedia. Under the criteria for speedy deletion, such articles may be deleted at any time. Please see the guidelines for what is generally accepted as notable, as well as our subject-specific notability guideline for organizations and companies. You may also wish to consider using a Wizard to help you create articles - see the Article Wizard.

If you think that this notice was placed here in error, you may contest the deletion by adding {{hangon}} to the top of the page that has been nominated for deletion (just below the existing speedy deletion or "db" tag - if no such tag exists then the page is no longer a speedy delete candidate and adding a hangon tag is unnecessary), coupled with adding a note on the talk page explaining your position, but be aware that once tagged for speedy deletion, if the page meets the criterion, it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but don't hesitate to add information to the page that would render it more in conformance with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. Lastly, please note that if the page does get deleted, you can contact one of these admins to request that they userfy the page or have a copy emailed to you. A tag has been placed on Category:Alaska Railroad succession templates requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section C1 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the category has been empty for seven days or more and is not a disambiguation category, a category redirect, a featured topics category, under discussion at Categories for discussion, or a project category that by its nature may become empty on occasion.

If you think this page should not be deleted for this reason, you may contest the nomination by visiting the page and clicking the button labelled "Contest this speedy deletion". This will give you the opportunity to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. However, be aware that once a page is tagged for speedy deletion, it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag from the page yourself, but do not hesitate to add information in line with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. Liz Read!
