Asian Americans content proposals[edit]

As an editor who has contributed to Asian Americans in recent months, I'd like you to know I've been posting a number of proposals on the talk page. I have been slow-walking the proposals since late April, but few others have contributed to the discussion. Your participation in establishing a consensus for or against the proposals would help the article. Thanks! --Ishu (talk) 02:50, 4 June 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Trivia vs. personal life[edit]

It might be fandom to an extent, but Billy Knight played in tennis tournaments, so that makes it personal life, no? How is personal life trivial? And why would this need to be corroborated? - 108.71.133.201 (talk) 05:02, 21 November 2018 (UTC)[reply]

I would like to see a source besides USA Today that supports the tennis tournament participation assertion. Most NBA player contracts have provisions that forbid participation in other competitive sports. There's a fairly detailed article here [1] about Knight, but note that it just mentions that he played tennis in California after his playing career was over and that he was enjoying doing things that he (as he put it) "never had a chance to do when I was playing" (the date of the USA Today article came while he was still an active player). Also, this mention of tennis playing in the article sounds like a pretty tangential remark, with no mention of tournaments.—Myasuda (talk) 07:41, 21 November 2018 (UTC)[reply]
Here's another article that mentions Knight and tennis, but nothing about tournaments: [2]. This might support an article mention that he was a tennis enthusiast, but not that he played in tournaments (at least any tournament more significant than a neighborhood or club / association tournament, which would not be worth calling out).—Myasuda (talk) 08:06, 21 November 2018 (UTC)[reply]

NBA consecutive losses[edit]

Myasuda, I rarely make Wikipedia changes, but did so today at https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_National_Basketball_Association_longest_losing_streaks#Regular_season

Refreshing the page while still logged in shows the change I made, but after logging out then going to that website the prior info is listed, not my updated information. Logging back in shows the updated information. I'm curious, is there an explanation for this? Thank you for your time. (I changed the 25 (tie) teams to 26 (tie) teams as a result of the 2018-19 NY Knicks being added to the 21 (tie) teams, increasing that count to 5 teams). Can you explain why it is so necessary to have the birth and death years in this list? Almost no other city GA/FA does this, and I would like to not get docked for it while the article is at GAN. Moreover, I don't think it's appropriate because there are not uncommon instances where people have unknown or unverified birth years, especially in the early history of such towns. Neal Koblitz Wikipedia Edits[edit]

I am trying to bring fame to a living legend at the University of Washington. Instructors like Professor Koblitz are the backbone of this prestigious institution. He is single-handedly taking the down the disgrace that is the University of Washington IT Department. For weeks, Professor Koblitz has bravely continued teaching Linear Algebra in a rundown classroom with zero aids except his tarsals. He has refused to let a lack of technology hinder his instruction. During this particular lecture, which I was sitting in, I experienced FIRST HAND the sheer power that Professor Koblitz was radiating. I saw the life drain from that one student's eyes as Koblitz emanated a pulse too strong to contain. I did not appreciate you removing that from his Wikipedia page; it was disrespectful. I am currently communicating with University President Ana-Mari Cauce to award Professor Koblitz with a pay raise. After this I will personally contact the President of the United States to award him a Nobel Peace Prize. I humbly request that you stop interfering with my accurate accounts of the heroics of Neal Koblitz.

References on Mitsuye Endo[edit]

Hello! I put the refimprove tag there because there are many items in the article that are not sourced. I am going to try and find some sources, and I will also restore the tag. The article needs multiple references, not two. More like five or six at least, per WP:VERIFIABLE.ThatMontrealIP (talk) 03:56, 19 December 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Hi again. Looking at the article, it appears to largely cover the same material in Ex parte Endo. Do you really think it deserves to be a standalone article? ThatMontrealIP (talk) 04:02, 19 December 2019 (UTC)[reply]
The Mitsuye Endo article is a recent creation, and much of the content of the article does appear to have been taken from the Ex parte Endo article. I believe much of the biographical content present in the Ex parte Endo article is there because a Mitsuye Endo article did not exist at the time it was written. I feel that Endo is notable, as both the New York Times and Washington Post have profiled her this year . . . and given that, my opinion is that the best course of action is to remove much of the duplicate biographical material from the Ex parte Endo article. But of course, if you feel otherwise, you are certainly entitled to raise the question at either article's discussion page. — Myasuda (talk) 04:11, 19 December 2019 (UTC)[reply]
I did some major editing and I think it is moving in the right direction. If we could find some more items to flesh out something more about her as a person it would be good. I turned up some more senators advocating for a Medal of Freedom for her, and the fact that she worked for the California DMV.ThatMontrealIP (talk) 05:17, 19 December 2019 (UTC)[reply]
I have finished improving it. I trimmed some of the info on her from the case article, per your suggestion. I think they are standalone now.ThatMontrealIP (talk) 05:46, 19 December 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Nikkei?[edit]

I don't see how any of the meanings listed at Nikkei work. Editor2020 (talk) 01:57, 20 August 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Fair question. The sentence that was edited regarded a prohibition that applied to all ethnic Japanese that were interned, not just the Nisei (second generation). One term that is used which applies to the ethnic Japanese immigrants and US born is Nikkei.—Myasuda (talk) 02:00, 20 August 2020 (UTC)[reply]
