JW Marriott Dubai[edit]

Nabil rais2008, I'm not sure why you undid my revision about the JW Marriott Dubai, starting the article by stating that it is now the tallest hotel in the world. It is listed here at Wikipedia as the tallest in the world, and if you Google "tallest hotel in the world" you will find dozens of media articles covering the opening of the hotel and stating it is the world's tallest. Please let me know why you felt the need to change this. It makes no sense to say it's the tallest hotel in Dubai and then leave the fact that it's the tallest in the entire world to the very end of the paragraph. It is the most important fact about the hotel and should be first. Thanks, James Jamesluckard (talk) 11:15, 12 June 2013 (UTC)[reply]

BRSP[edit]

Hi, First, thanks for being proactive in engaging with me about this article. My problem with it is that I was unable to establish notability through simple google searches. It may very well be a significant organization, but I was not able to find anything significant about it -- nothing that would, in my view, qualify it as notable under WP:GNG. For instance, this document mentions it only in passing, and that was ranked well below recruiting ads for jobs with the organization. That was actually the first non-PR, non-Wikipedia, non-directory, non-ad mention I saw of the program, and that still does not qualify the organization as notable.

If there are news reports of this organization you are aware of (that are about the organization itself and not about things like kidnappings) I think the article would benefit substantially from their inclusion. Unless I can establish notability myself (in which case I will add the references to the article) or you can provide references that establish WP:N, I intend to nominate the article at AfD. -- [ UseTheCommandLine ~/talk ] # _ 19:19, 8 August 2013 (UTC)[reply]

I have posted at WP:RSN regarding one of your references, Pakistan Press International. -- [ UseTheCommandLine ~/talk ] # _ 19:31, 8 August 2013 (UTC)[reply]
I appreciate your offer of additional information. Unfortunately, none of those sources you listed look to me like reliable sources as defined by WP guidelines. Although I understand there may be issues with advertising, advertisements are actually not considered reliable either. Also, if a public profile is seen as a problem, I have to wonder why you are so enthusiastic (judging by what you have written in the article) about having a Wikipedia page? That is quite public. -- UseTheCommandLine ~/talk ]# ▄ 08:40, 9 August 2013 (UTC)[reply]

AS regards your notification of people about the 3 AfDs, stop doing this. You are in violation of the above policy (because you a sending it to editors you feel you will be sympathetic and also you have described the items as "notable"). One of the people you canvassed voted "Keep" in all 3 AfDs in less than a minute, proving they hadn't even read them. If you continue to do this, you will be blocked. I am going to close the AfDs and re-start them, as they are now tainted. Votes from those that you contacted may be discarded by the closing admin. Black Kite (talk) 10:42, 10 August 2013 (UTC)[reply]

The reason for canvassing is just to broaden the discussion, and inviting more participants and it does not mean to bring the decision to one side. In my point of view by inviting more participants randomly one can easily reach a consensus without any delay, as i did

Request reason:

I have been blocked for one week without giving me a single warning for avoiding those edits, it is not justified in any case that a user is blocked without any warning, i have been blocked in the case of the articles being nominated for deletion, by User: Commandline had wrongly nominated articles of Dubai Central Library, and Zabeel Mall do not fall under section A7. No indication of importance (individuals, animals, organizations, web content, events) of Wikipedia:Criteria for speedy deletion

Decline reason:

I am declining your unblock request because it does not address the reason for your block, or because it is inadequate for other reasons. To be unblocked, you must convince the reviewing administrator(s) that

  • the block is not necessary to prevent damage or disruption to Wikipedia, or
  • the block is no longer necessary because you
    1. understand what you have been blocked for,
    2. will not continue to cause damage or disruption, and
    3. will make useful contributions instead.

Nabil rais2008 (talk) 11:26, 10 August 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Nabil, any wrong nomination of article doesn't allow you to do what you did by creating multiple accounts. In fact what you might have skipped there is a warning in the editnotice of every deletion discussion you comment/edit. Besides the Blocking policy allows admins to block users involved in sock puppetry without any prior warning. --SMS Talk 11:55, 10 August 2013 (UTC)[reply]

But there is always a warning on talk page for user before proceeding to block any user. Yes it was my mistake but is there any way to get unblock before the set expiry date ??? If any then please unblock me so that i can continue my routine editing.

I shall be very thankful to you for your kindness. Thanks Nabil rais2008 (talk) 12:01, 10 August 2013 (UTC)[reply]

  • You are quite aware that you are not allowed to use multiple accounts to make multiple votes on discussions. Sock puppetry is treated very seriously at Wikipedia and warnings are not issued for such policy violations. Black Kite (talk) 12:04, 10 August 2013 (UTC)[reply]

I have not used the account of User: Mohammad adil, it is a coincidence that this user also belongs to Quetta, Pakistan. And he has also interest in bodybuilding, you can have a thorough review in his account for your satisfaction. However other account of User:Blog123 was in my custody but not now, as the account is not being operating by me currently, however one year ago it was created by me, but now its not operating by me. Well, there is at least leniency in Wikipedia for sure to unblock me in two days atleast.

Thanks.

Nabil rais2008 (talk) 12:13, 10 August 2013 (UTC)[reply]

  • How do you know that account is in Quetta, unless it's also you? And is it just a coincidence that you stopped editing for a few minutes while User:Blog123 edited on the AfDs, and then there was another gap in your editing while User:Mohammad adil commented on them? I'll be quite clear about this - the block will stand for at least the time stated. If it turns out that the Mohammad adil accoutn is also you, it will be extended. Please don't take us for fools. This might be good time to list any other accounts that you have used, because misuse like this can often lead to an indefinite block. Black Kite (talk) 14:01, 10 August 2013 (UTC)[reply]

This is really funny, i came to knew by viewing his profile that he lives in Quetta and nothing else, what is so much suspicious in it ??? It is really weird that you are continuously blaming me, that User:Mohammmad adil is operating by me. It is not the case that if a user lives in Quetta then his ID is operating by me / or belongs to me ! Your blames are senseless.......For your satisfaction you can thoroughly review profile and user log of User:Mohammad Adil, that when , and how he had made edits.

Gap between editing ??? it is natural that users edits at different time of the day, and you are intentionally merging those incidents and blaming me for all that. If i take this case, then i can blame hundreds of users for Sock puppetry !!!

Hope you got my point.

Nabil rais2008 (talk) 15:45, 10 August 2013 (UTC)[reply]

  • No, I was talking about the two five minute gaps in your editing this morning during which - coincidentally - the other two accounts added to the AfDs, and then you carried on editing. Anyway, the SPI will sort this issue out. Black Kite (talk) 15:55, 10 August 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Hi Nabil,

I was unaware of your possible connection to other accounts and I am a little disappointed that this incident has blemished a pretty good record of editing skyscraper and Dubai-related articles.

Hopefully, you have learned a useful lesson about how things work and can return soon. In the meantime, can I suggest you serve your one-week block without complaint. Astronaut (talk) 11:50, 12 August 2013 (UTC)[reply]

I have just noticed a remark on top of my edit counter page:

Deleted edits is coming to labs, finally. They should be up by the end of August

What does it mean ?

Nabil rais2008 (talk) 13:22, 12 August 2013 (UTC)[reply]

The Edit Counter and various other tools which used to run on the WP:Toolserver are being moved to WP:Wikimedia Labs. "Deleted edits" is the count of edits made to pages which have since been deleted. Since the Edit Counter moved to Wikimedia Labs, it has not been able to report those, and the notice says that the capability to report them is going to be restored. JohnCD (talk) 13:40, 12 August 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Ok, its mean that the deleted edits will be added again in total edits. Nabil rais2008 (talk) 13:42, 12 August 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Yes. At the moment, the Edit Counter shows "0" for "Deleted edits", and "Total edits" is the same as "Live edits"; but soon the number of deleted edits will be shown again, and "Total edits" will include them. Meanwhile, you can still see total edits by clicking "Preferences" at the top of the screen. JohnCD (talk) 15:26, 12 August 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Ok thanks for information. Nabil rais2008 (talk) 15:40, 12 August 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Request reason:

I want to appeal my unblock because i have been blocked due to misunderstanding as sock puppetry of User:Mohammad Adil, i admit i have used account of Blog123 for Canvassing, but my account is not a sock puppet of User:Mohammad Adil, previously a lot of confusion has arisen that my location and that of USser:Mohammad Adil are same, (Quetta City), and our interest are also same (As User:Commandline mentioned) i.e bodybuilding, these all similarities are because we both are brothers (You can verify it !), and nothing else, and we are using and sharing the same IP address, you can view his log, and he had greatly contributed to the articles related to Islamic History, and has raised the status of many articles to "Good Article", on the other side my area of editing is totally different as i edit skyscrapers related articles. I * If i was a sock puppet of User: Mohammad Adil, then my account was rather inactive for a number of years (Like blog 123), * It is worth to mention here that by brother(User Mohammad Adil) has almost left editing on Wikipedia due to busy routine work of his job, and i have done a mistake that i had used his ID to canvass. (You can check log i have only done it for once only, but never before). * And yes my brother's account is older than me, he started editing in 2006 and i did in 2009, and it is evident that i am not a sock puppet of him. I really want to solve this issue now, as i am worried about my editing on Wikipedia, you have already blocked the real sock puppet Blog123. But i am not a sock puppet of User:Mohammad Adil, you should re-consider the case, and resolve this confusion. Thanks.Nabil rais2008 (talk) 1:14 am, Yesterday (UTC+4)

If you make too many unconvincing or disruptive unblock requests, you may be prevented from editing this page until your block has expired. Do not remove this unblock review while you are blocked.

Let's review, shall we?
Basically, it really doesn't matter anymore. You have repeatedly lied to the community about your use of other accounts, you keep changing your story, the Checkuser data is there, and you have admitted to compromising othe accounts. Whether you are blocked for sockpuppetry or outright disruption, you should remain indeffed blocked. Singularity42 (talk) 20:51, 13 August 2013 (UTC)[reply]

I apologize for using other accounts for canvassing, but i future i will refrain from making such things, as they are not against policies of Wikipedia, and i will continue my productive contributions to Wikipedia. From now onwards i will abide by the policies of Wikipedia, and will make productive edits. Please consider my apology and some some amendments in my indefinite block, i shall be very thankful to you for your kindness. I assure you that in future i will not try to use any of the accounts (That i have previously used, either for canvassing or for some other purpose. And i will make sure to avoid such activities in future.

However i want to make some one correction from the comments of Singularity42:

Help[edit]

Please help me, i want to use WP:OFFER, please advice me to which administrator or experienced editor shall i submit my Standard offer as per WP:OFFER.

Nabil rais2008 (talk) 08:41, 18 August 2013 (UTC)[reply]

WP:OFFER is quite simple. Adhere to the three conditions listed, and simply stay away from Wikipedia for at least six months, then make a new unblock request. Keep in mind that this doesn't just apply to this account, it applies to you as a person. Also remember that the offer isn't a promise that you'll be unblocked, it's still up to the reviewing admin to decide. Bjelleklang - talk 08:50, 18 August 2013 (UTC)[reply]

A tag has been placed on Arjan Dubai, requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section G11 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the page seems to be unambiguous advertising which only promotes a company, product, group, service or person and would need to be fundamentally rewritten in order to become encyclopedic. Please read the guidelines on spam and Wikipedia:FAQ/Organizations for more information.

If you think this page should not be deleted for this reason, you may contest the nomination by visiting the page and clicking the button labelled "Click here to contest this speedy deletion". This will give you the opportunity to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. However, be aware that once a page is tagged for speedy deletion, it may be removed without delay. Can you please mention these recently nominated articles on Wiki Project Dubai / or other related pages for discussion and to bring more clear consensus ??? I have previously asked you to please consider holding your continuous tagging articles for deletion as i am unable to contribute (Do not take it in the sense that i will again start canvassing !) but i have not received any response from your side.

I do not think that its appropriate practice to tag loads of articles in Wikipedia for deletion, you should have a thorough review of the subject of article and have a detailed search on Google and then tag them for deletion. In my opinion this is not a solution to tag all the un sourced articles / articles lacking reliable references for deletion, rather you can contribute by adding / improving sources in articles by your self, which will result in improving the articles in Wikipedia and will at least show your productivity in Wikipedia as an active contributor rather an active "Articles Deletion Tagger".

Hope you understand.....Thanks for your understanding. Nabil rais2008 (talk) 18:08, 24 August 2013 (UTC)[reply]

You have recently nominated "Ahmed Abdul Rahim Al Attar Tower" for deletion can i ask you how you have tagged this article for deletion ?? It is to bring in your kind information that this skyscraper this tower is 342 meters high (Considered as a supertall skyscraper as per CTBUH), and is one of the tallest residential building in Dubai. Is it not notable ?? So far i have failed to understand your self assumed criteria of notability, correct me if i am wrong. The article is well sourced (Emporis and CTBUH), and many other references can be added for general notability please read Criteria for Speedy Deletion before tagging articles for deletion.
