July 2018[edit]

Information icon Please do not add or change content, as you did at Daniel Itodo, without citing a reliable source. Please review the guidelines at Wikipedia:Citing sources and take this opportunity to add references to the article. Thank you. GiantSnowman 07:36, 17 July 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Stop icon You may be blocked from editing without further warning the next time you vandalize Wikipedia, as you did at Daniel Itodo.
The sources either do not confirm what you want them to confirm, or they relate to another person. Please stop adding them. GiantSnowman 12:02, 19 July 2018 (UTC)[reply]
oops!! I am sorry. I did not intend to vandalise Wikipedia. I was only trying to clear Wikipedia of misleading content. Thanks. Nauteeq (talk) 12:20, 19 July 2018 (UTC)[reply]
Given that you are new here and struggling to find a way, maybe you should post your ideas/sources on to the article talk page (Talk:Daniel Itodo) and I can review them and include any which are suitable? GiantSnowman 12:46, 19 July 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Thank you very much, GiantSnowman. I would do as you recommended. Nauteeq (talk) 13:04, 19 July 2018 (UTC)[reply]

References[edit]

Thanks, Snowman. I would find references and add it to the article. Nauteeq (talk) 20:16, 17 July 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Transfermarkt is not a reliable source. GiantSnowman 08:42, 18 July 2018 (UTC)[reply]
Hi, Snowman, the information and the references in the Daniel Itodo post all refer to the player. He is registered as Daniel James with CAF & the NPFL as that with the jersey name "Itodo". Itodo is a middle name that became more popular because of fans preference. Please, you have deleted the edits in error. Nauteeq (talk) 11:41, 19 July 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Big Cabal Media moved to draftspace[edit]

An article you recently created, Big Cabal Media, is not suitable as written to remain published. It needs more citations from reliable, independent sources. (?) Information that can't be referenced should be removed (verifiability is of central importance on Wikipedia). I've moved your draft to draftspace (with a prefix of "Draft:" before the article title) where you can incubate the article with minimal disruption. When you feel the article meets Wikipedia's general notability guideline and thus is ready for mainspace, please click on the "Submit your draft for review!" button at the top of the page. Celestina007 (talk) 00:33, 14 April 2022 (UTC)[reply]

i've cleaned the drafts up and only left verifiable claims on it. Nauteeq (talk) 08:42, 14 April 2022 (UTC)[reply]

COI DISCUSSION[edit]

Please could you explain this? Why are you creating a promotional article for an organization that doesn’t meet NCORP? Celestina007 (talk) 00:38, 14 April 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Regarding the notability of the organisation, I found a lot of secondary sources for the claims in the article and it as at 21h00wat, I'd removed elements that sound promotional from the article. I'm also going to review again to remove statements that I can't find sufficient secondary references for.@Celestina007 thank you. Nauteeq (talk) 07:49, 14 April 2022 (UTC)[reply]
    • I am afraid I do not see even as little as two reliable sources in that article. Could you be so kind as to show what sources you are seeing that I’m failing to? Celestina007 (talk) 14:03, 14 April 2022 (UTC)[reply]
I think your and my understanding of reliable Nigerian sources might be the issue here. For example, TechCrunch, TechPoint, Nairametrics, Quartz, New Telegraph and Channels TV are considered reliable news sources. Yes, I might have a little idea about why you might have a different view about this, but if we're to look at the criteria that qualify media houses as reliable, I doubt any Nigerian media house can qualify as reliable.
I sincerely want to know why you don't consider these platforms as reliable as it'd help me know whether to give up using Nigerian sources at all.
      Thank you @Celestina007 Nauteeq (talk) 15:16, 14 April 2022 (UTC)[reply]
      • My understanding of sources in Nigeria is literally my forte, from the aforementioned TechCrunch, TechPoint, Nairametrics, Quartz, New Telegraph and Channels only New Telegraph and Channels TV are reliable sources as they are the only two Nigerian sources with an extensive reputation for fact checking and have a clear editorial oversight team and even at that the pieces published aren’t meeting RS. The rest of the sources lack a reputation for fact checking and please do not use ever use "TechCrunch" as they are an outright unreliable source. Celestina007 (talk) 16:43, 14 April 2022 (UTC)[reply]
Lmao! 😂 TechCrunch! wow! the way everyone in the ecosystem rave about them I thought they're a credible source! i think for my future articles, if they don't have a "traditional" press coverage from reputable media houses e.g. the businessdays, guardian etc (who have proper editorial structures) i'm just going to leave and find topics with relevant coverage to write about or i'd simply focus on editing other published articles of grammar etc. thanks a bunch for providing clarity @Celestina007. Nauteeq (talk) 20:01, 14 April 2022 (UTC)[reply]
          • They are "red listed" there are tools we use in anti spam & one of such indicated the source as "red listed" via community consensus which indicates blatant unreliability. Celestina007 (talk) 21:03, 14 April 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Hi @Celestina007 I actually only use one account @Nauteeq. So, my account is unconnected to these accounts you've mentioned. I'm also not aware of any further edits on this page, except the ones I made just minutes after creating the page. Nauteeq (talk) 07:40, 14 April 2022 (UTC)[reply]
Hey I’m not entirely sure I understand what you mean or imply by saying "my account is unconnected to these accounts you've mentioned" as I have mentioned no other accounts other than the templated AGF Warning I left you. Celestina007 (talk) 14:16, 14 April 2022 (UTC)[reply]
"Your editing pattern indicates that you may be using multiple accounts or coordinating editing with people outside Wikipedia." as I only posted and edited about 5 times with the same account as it's the only one i have. @Celestina007 Nauteeq (talk) 15:02, 14 April 2022 (UTC)[reply]
        • I am afraid you reference an automated response me templating you generated and those aren’t my words per se, I however do take responsibility for the confusion this might have caused you. I would however love to talk to you about other things pertaining this article sometime in the future. Celestina007 (talk) 16:48, 14 April 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Fresh Dialogue[edit]

Hello, I am starting a fresh dialogue for productive purposes. I am trying to understand your thinking, I just discovered that one of the brains behind the organization is an individual named Tomi Davies who 13 years ago created an autobiography in his UP which existed until today which I flagged it and it was speedy deleted it does appear as though one person has an history of self promotion as can be verified above, Please this begs my second question, were you in any manner approached by anyone to create this article? Please I have not accused nor am I accusing you of undeclared paid editing, I’m only trying to understand why you chose to create a non notable promotional article on an organization that fails NCORP, and also why you sourced the article to COISOURCES, unreliable sources and claimed the article had several secondary reliable sources when it didn’t, My frustration is, had I not devoted years after NPP academy with Barkeep49 and became a master at sourcing and especially at Nigerian sources, I would have missed this and an article on a non notable organization would have ended up on mainspace. Furthermore had Theroadislong who also, is a grandmaster at AFC and sourcing not been the reviewer who reviewed the article, it may have "fallen into the hands" of an inexperienced AFC reviewer who might have been confused and accepted the promotional non notable article, see your first revision into mainspace. Now we have discarded sourcing because it simply isn’t there, hence my question on if or not you were approached by anybody to create the article. Celestina007 (talk) 17:54, 14 April 2022 (UTC)[reply]

i found tomi davies was associated with the company following a funding announcement i saw while sourcing for links before actually writing the article. although i am not affiliated with the company in any way, i've followed their sites zikoko & techcabal for a long time now and that influenced how i wrote about them in the article (which bothers on 'original research' on second thought). also, i assumed the parent company was notable enough considering they've had two public funding announcements between 2020 and now. regarding the choice of sources, i found out went through the gn guidelines you attached and i saw that even though the articles where written to look different from what other sites reported they were primarily sourced from the same press releases, which disqualifies the coverage from a credible and reliability perspective. no, i wasn't. thank you for your time, as i've learnt that "reliability" of source is about the origin of the message itself as it is about media platform the message is published on. @Celestina007 Nauteeq (talk) 19:53, 14 April 2022 (UTC)[reply]
i've now added {{Db-g7}} to the top of the draft so it can be deleted and removed completely. thank you! @Celestina007 Nauteeq (talk) 20:04, 14 April 2022 (UTC)[reply]
    • There was no reason to have deleted the draft, if I felt it far from notability I would have nominated it for deletion I had hope in it is why I incubated it as WP:ATD. What I want you to understand something, and this is speaking in general, although discouraged there is absolutely nothing wrong in creating COI or UPE articles insofar as the person followed WP:COIDISCLOSE & WP:PAYDISCLOSE, the problem is in not disclosing this, Infact hypothetically speaking if this was a paid job someone gave you, what I would have done was to completely removed the references and aid you in putting reliable sources in the article.
