Deletion discussion about Latitude and longitude definition[edit]

Hello, Navstar55,

I wanted to let you know that there's a discussion about whether Latitude and longitude definition should be deleted. Your comments are welcome at Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Latitude and longitude definition .

If you're new to the process, articles for deletion is a group discussion (not a vote!) that usually lasts seven days. If you need it, there is a guide on how to contribute. Last but not least, you are highly encouraged to continue improving the article; just be sure not to remove the tag about the deletion nomination from the top.

Thanks, fycafterpro(talk) 16:28, 23 March 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Information icon Hello and welcome to Wikipedia. When you add content to talk pages and Wikipedia pages that have open discussion (but never when editing articles), please be sure to sign your posts. There are two ways to do this. Either:

  1. Add four tildes ( ~~~~ ) at the end of your comment; or
  2. With the cursor positioned at the end of your comment, click on the signature button ( or ) located above the edit window.

This will automatically insert a signature with your username or IP address and the time you posted the comment. This information is necessary to allow other editors to easily see who wrote what and when.

File source problem with File:Earth-poly-anim.gif[edit]

Thank you for uploading File:Earth-poly-anim.gif. I noticed that the file's description page currently doesn't specify who created the content, so the copyright status is unclear. If you did not create this file yourself, you will need to specify the owner of the copyright. If you obtained it from a website, please add a link to the page from which it was taken, together with a brief restatement of the website's terms of use of its content. If the original copyright holder is a party unaffiliated with the website, that author should also be credited. Please add this information by editing the image description page.

If the necessary information is not added within the next days, the image will be deleted. If the file is already gone, you can still make a request for undeletion and ask for a chance to fix the problem.

Please refer to the image use policy to learn what images you can or cannot upload on Wikipedia. Please also check any other files you have uploaded to make sure they are correctly tagged. Here is a list of your uploads. If you have any questions or are in need of assistance please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. Again from STAN. i answered this. untrue.

My reading of STNA's talk page shows many people are question what he is doing. he removes images then asks Wikepedia users for money to restore / retransmit the deleted image.

I properly marked the image as per instructions as public domain in every way.

further more the work is obviously trivial and not eligible for copyright

STAN. please stop your online extortion

i should know. i made the trivial work. and i said that.

anyway, the work is visualy appealing and funny to those who know about geo modeling.

This user is a volunteer who kindly monitors images uploaded to Wikipedia to ensure they comply with the relevant guidelines and law so that Wikipedia does not get sued. Of course people complain because, like you, they do not recognise the importance of the work he is doing. Please read the reasons WHY your image was deleted. They are good reasons. If you do not see why they are good reasons, perhaps you should stop and think about what you are doing before contributing further or you may find yourself being blocked from editing Wikipedia. Also, talk pages are used to discuss possible improvements to articles, not to upload personal thoughts on a topic. You appeared to add a great deal of irrelevant material to Talk:Geodetic datum, which I removed in an effort to tidy up the talk page. GDallimore (Talk) 00:26, 11 May 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Information icon Hello, I'm FenixFeather. I wanted to let you know that I removed one or more external links you added to the page Sorting algorithm, because they seemed to be inappropriate for an encyclopedia. If you think I made a mistake, or if you have any questions, you can leave me a message on my talk page, or take a look at our guidelines about links. Thank you. – FenixFeather (talk)(Contribs) 07:08, 10 May 2014 (UTC)[reply]

"seems innapropriate" could mean you simply don't like anyone's elses view, work, speech. you are too vauge.

i will try to comply with this vaugeness Navstar55 (talk) 17:15, 10 May 2014 (UTC)[reply]

The reasons why the link were inappropriate are detailed in the guidelines linked to above. The policies on this are NOT vague. The link you are trying to add is not a reliable source and is not of value to an encyclopedia. GDallimore (Talk) 00:14, 11 May 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Information icon Thank you for your contributions. Please mark your edits, such as your recent edits to Sorting Algorithms, as "minor" only if they are minor edits. In accordance with Help:Minor edit, a minor edit is one that the editor believes requires no review and could never be the subject of a dispute. Minor edits consist of things such as typographical corrections, formatting changes or rearrangement of text without modification of content. Additionally, the reversion of clear-cut vandalism and test edits may be labeled "minor". (I'm adding this to your talk page so you can access this info on how to use minor edits.) Thanks! – FenixFeather (talk)(Contribs) 05:15, 11 May 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Please stop adding links to sourceforge resources. They are not reliable and do not help Wikipedia. I'm adding a welcome message just below which you should read carefully if you want to contribute usefully to this encyclopedia:

I answered this kindly in FenixFeather talk page previously.

he has ignored the message, refused to offer any answers to questions asked, and been hostile in return. i had said i wished only a small external link and placed it thinking it would not be a problem after all.

the complaint was very vague and i added a much more brief external link

this person does not own the topic

and i have a complaint he has been deleting valid material from it while promoting invalid material - apprently he is vandalizing the topic. and refuses to open a subtopic or split topic for his fetishes.

i call FenixFeather the vandal.

i furthermore object to his being hostile for a simple lesser, very brief, external link being added

i also feel picked on since Wikipedia is flush with external links which are a valued resource to some: editors and viewers alike

Navstar55 (talk) 21:10, 11 May 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Fenix has not been hostile in the slightest, but has been extremely helpful in trying to guide you towards the relevant policies explaning why your edits are innapropriate. Please do not go around complaining that you are being treated unfairly by the very person who is trying to help you the most. GDallimore (Talk) 21:17, 11 May 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Geodetic plotting[edit]

Your new articleon Geodetic plotting is inappropriate for an encyclopedia per WP:NOT. I am seeking to have it deleted. Please slow down with your contributions until you have learned what Wikipedia is about. GDallimore (Talk) 09:42, 12 May 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Nomination of Geodetic plotting for deletion[edit]

A discussion is taking place as to whether the article Geodetic plotting is suitable for inclusion in Wikipedia according to Wikipedia's policies and guidelines or whether it should be deleted.

The article will be discussed at Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Geodetic plotting until a consensus is reached, and anyone is welcome to contribute to the discussion. The nomination will explain the policies and guidelines which are of concern. The discussion focuses on high-quality evidence and our policies and guidelines.

Users may edit the article during the discussion, including to improve the article to address concerns raised in the discussion. However, do not remove the article-for-deletion notice from the top of the article. GDallimore (Talk) 09:48, 12 May 2014 (UTC)[reply]

A tag has been placed on File:Rayshade.variety.jpg requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section F9 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the image appears to be a blatant copyright infringement. For legal reasons, we cannot accept copyrighted images or text borrowed from other web sites or printed material, and as a consequence, your addition will most likely be deleted. Wikipedia takes copyright violations very seriously and persistent violators will be blocked from editing.

If you think this page should not be deleted for this reason, you may contest the nomination by visiting the page and clicking the button labelled "Click here to contest this speedy deletion". This will give you the opportunity to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. However, be aware that once a page is tagged for speedy deletion, it may be removed without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag from the page yourself, but do not hesitate to add information in line with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. July 2014[edit]

Information icon Hello, Navstar55. We welcome your contributions to Wikipedia, but if you are affiliated with some of the people, places or things you have written about in the article Year, you may have a conflict of interest.

All editors are required to comply with Wikipedia's neutral point of view content policy. People who are very close to a subject often have a distorted view of it, which may cause them to inadvertently edit in ways that make the article either too flattering or too disparaging. People with a close connection to a subject are not absolutely prohibited from editing about that subject, but they need to be especially careful about ensuring their edits are verified by reliable sources and writing with as little bias as possible.

If you are very close to a subject, here are some ways you can reduce the risk of problems:

  • Avoid or exercise great caution when editing or creating articles related to you, your organization, or its competitors, as well as projects and products they are involved with.
  • Avoid linking to the Wikipedia article or website of your organization in other articles (see Wikipedia:Spam).
  • Exercise great caution so that you do not accidentally breach Wikipedia's content policies.

Please familiarize yourself with relevant content policies and guidelines, especially those pertaining to neutral point of view, verifiability of information, and autobiographies.

For information on how to contribute to Wikipedia when you have a conflict of interest, please see our frequently asked questions for organizations. Thank you. Jc3s5h (talk) 15:02, 14 July 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Stop icon This is your only warning; if you insert a spam link to Wikipedia again, as you did at Julian year (astronomy), you may be blocked from editing without further notice. Persistent spammers may have their websites blacklisted, preventing anyone from linking to them from all Wikimedia sites as well as potentially being penalized by search engines. Jc3s5h (talk) 15:07, 14 July 2014 (UTC)[reply]

navstar55 responded this way to the above[edit]

  • Months` free equations: Julian <> Gregorian <> jdn <> gdn <> Epoch[JDN] <> Epoch[2000], Julian Century, synodic, anomalistic, more fully arbitrary precision.

is a good External Link comparable to others in the subject, possible the BEST

it was vandalism and defamatory to claim my Link was promotional while others were not, and the threat to block my IP because "i am promotional" is simply hostile.
