Sorry[edit]

Thank you for reverting vandalism to George W. Bush. It appears HallMonitor got to it before you, so you reverted to a non-useful version. Sorry about that, and I posted a previous message thinking you had inserted he was a racist. Sorry about that. If you want, take a look at Wikipedia:Semi-protection policy, and voice your oppinions on the talk page. I can see you're a new user, but have already contributed greatly (I'm glad I checked your logs). Good luck and happy editing, Mysekurity(have you seen this?) 23:38, 6 December 2005 (UTC)[reply]

For what reason did you use the db-repost tag on AMACOE? I can't find evidence that it has undergone either a VfD or an AfD. Enochlau 01:21, 8 December 2005 (UTC)[reply]

That still isn't a reason for speedy deletion. "Not needed" is not a criteria. In any case, if the article had been speedily deleted before, the following note applies: "Administrators faced with a recreation of previously speedily deleted content must determine that it did in fact meet a criterion for speedy deletion and had been appropriately deleted before they delete it again." It doesn't fit any of the other criteria at WP:CSD. Enochlau 01:27, 8 December 2005 (UTC)[reply]

Brendan richards[edit]

Hey, thanks for the quick catch there. Just a quick note--in a lot of cases, you can move those kinds of pages to the user page, e.g. User:Bmr954 or whatever his name was--a lot of the times, it's people creating pages about themselves, which is ok for the user page. Thanks for the good work. Best wishes, Meelar (talk) 02:35, 8 December 2005 (UTC)[reply]

Exceptional Newcomer[edit]

Nawsum526 is hereby awarded the Exceptional Newcomer Award for your great service to WP. --LV (Dark Mark) 21:42, 8 December 2005 (UTC)[reply]

Sorry for the double post... my fingers got way ahead of my brain there. Cheers. --LV (Dark Mark) 21:42, 8 December 2005 (UTC)[reply]

But in the future, it is wise to place comments on talk pages at the bottom rather than at the top. Maybe I gave that award to quickly... just kidding. Just keep up the good work. Cheers. --LV (Dark Mark) 21:52, 8 December 2005 (UTC)[reply]

Hello, and welcome to Wikipedia! We welcome and appreciate your contributions, such as Michigan Competing Band Association, but we regretfully cannot accept copyrighted text or images borrowed from either web sites or printed material. This article appears to be a direct copy from http://michcompband.org/. As a copyright violation, Michigan Competing Band Association appears to qualify for speedy deletion under the speedy deletion criteria. Michigan Competing Band Association has been tagged for deletion, and may have been deleted by the time you see this message. If the source is a credible one, please consider rewriting the content and citing the source.

If you believe that the article is not a copyright violation, or if you have permission from the copyright holder to release the content freely under the GFDL, you can comment to that effect on Talk:Michigan Competing Band Association. If the article has already been deleted, but you have a proper release, you can reenter the content at Michigan Competing Band Association, after describing the release on the talk page. However, you may want to consider rewriting the content in your own words. Thank you, and please feel free to continue contributing to Wikipedia. ... discospinster talk 01:23, 23 October 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Re:Michigan Competing Band Association[edit]

It's already been deleted - not by me, as I am not an administrator and can't actually delete anything. You can re-do it, as long as it is not longer a copyright violation. If you re-do it, it would be a good idea to make a note in the article's talk page that it's a new version. ... discospinster talk 11:50, 23 October 2006 (UTC)[reply]

I've nominated Plymouth-Canton Marching Band, an article you created, for deletion. We appreciate your contributions, but in this particular case I do not feel that Plymouth-Canton Marching Band satisfies Wikipedia's criteria for inclusion; I have explained why in the nomination space (see also "What Wikipedia is not" and the Wikipedia deletion policy). Your opinions on the matter are welcome; please participate in the discussion by adding your comments at Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Plymouth-Canton Marching Band and please be sure to sign your comments with four tildes (~~~~). You are free to edit the content of Plymouth-Canton Marching Band during the discussion but should not remove the articles for deletion template from the top of the article; such removal will not end the deletion discussion. Thank you. Cornell Rockey 20:01, 4 March 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Plymouth-Canton Marching Band[edit]

Hi Nawsum,

I saw your comments at the deletion discussion. You absolutely may vote on the matter (although I think it's a sure bet not to be deleted, especially if you can put in references to newspaper articles). If you can put facts into the article and cite newspaper stories, your article should be safe from any future AfD debates (unless they change the rules at some point in the future, but I think that's going to take years). My guess is that if you put, say, four citations in the article to different newspaper accounts, you'll probably never have another AfD nomination. If you're not sure about footnotes and want help, feel free to leave a message on my talk page. Noroton 13:27, 5 March 2007 (UTC)[reply]

OK, this is really pretty easy. I recommend a pretty old-fashioned way to stick in footnotes because it's the most exact and, I think, easy to understand. (It's also the only one I know). For an official Wikipedia explanation, here's a good place to go: Help:Footnotes.
Essentially, type in "< ref >" at the beginning of a footnote and "< /ref >" at the end (minus the spaces). If it's a reference to something on the Web, cut and paste the URL (web address) and put "[" and "]" marks at the beginning and end. This should be the first part of the footnote. For a newspaper or magazine article, this is the way I do it:

Last Name of Author, First name of Author, "Headline of article or title of book", Name of newspaper or magazine, Date or (for books) Year of Publication, Page(s) (for instance: "pp. 1B-2B", If a web page, give the date accessed, such as : "accessed May 27, 2006"

Just above the "external links" section, or at the end of the article just above the category links, type in the following (again, without the spaces in between and with "=" instead of "[Equal sign]"):

[Equal sign][Equal sign]Notes[Equal sign][Equal sign]

< references / >

The footnotes get typed immediately after whatever you've typed that comes from that source. The footnote will appear in the "Notes" section.

You may decide, after looking at the Wikipedia guidelines on footnotes that you want another type, which is your decision if you're putting the first footnotes on the page. If not, you should use whatever style of footnotes some other editor used first on that page.

If you get frustrated, don't worry about the page looking bad, some editor will come by and fix it. In fact, if you just can't figure out the footnotes style, get the information in and just put the footnotes within parentheses and another editor will come by and fix it. That's what Wikipedia officially recommends. (If anyone criticizes you for it, it's because they're stupid. Wikipedia policy is not to "bite the newbies."). Have fun. If you have any problems, just message me. I'll keep watch on the page. Noroton 00:54, 6 March 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Hey, great job[edit]

I took a look at the footnotes and everything looks fine to me. I thought the Web links in the footnotes needed to be in the beginning and I changed one, then I wondered where that rule was and tried to look it up. I couldn't, so I changed back my edit and it's the way you left it. Great job! Noroton 01:52, 7 March 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Exactly[edit]

Yes, some people seem to get their kicks out of that. If you ever have any questions about the way things work on Wikipedia, feel free to ask, although I may not know. Noroton 03:16, 7 March 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Plymouth-Canton Marching Band[edit]

It is up for an AfD but it seems like the article is being kept. I really feel that high school clubs don't need their own articles but I guess I'm wrong. Cornell Rockey 17:45, 6 March 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Tubists or tuba players?[edit]

Removed cfdnotice, cfd has completed. --Kbdank71 16:37, 9 May 2008 (UTC) In fact, the discussion covers whether the main category and all of its sub-categories should be Category:Tubaists, Category:Tubists or Category:Tuba players, and so on. Please take any views you have to the discussion page there.[reply]
I think that people that know what they are talking about should comment, because there are things being written like, "'tubists' seems clearly incorrect ... to judge by the ... comments."
In the absence of knowledgeable discussion, an outcome based on ignorance can result.
I'm not getting the impression that most of the participants are serious tubists. -- Rico 04:21, 4 May 2007 (UTC)
