Mental health of Asian Americans[edit]

Thanks for your contributions so far, and welcome to Wikipedia! I'd like to help you out with this page Mental health of Asian Americans, as much of the content is useful, but there are some tricky things. First, Wikipedia has very stringent guidelines on biomedical information—which mental health statistics certainly falls under—that are described in WP:MEDRS. In short, individual studies should never be used for information in these articles. Therefore, sources like [1] should not be used. Sources like [2] and [3], however, are excellent, because they review multiple studies.

You can read deeper into WP:MEDRS for why we have this rule, but in short: single studies tend to be unreliable. The edifice of modern, evidence-based medicine and health policy is based on systematic reviews of several studies, and very rarely individual studies.

So, please cite existing information to these types of sources (systematic reviews, guidelines from major psychology organizations), and remove information which cannot be found outside of a single study. Hi Neha. As Pppery mentioned in their response to you on their talk page, this sort of information does not belong in Wikipedia articles

Their treatment referral routing service can be reached at: [redacted]. Calling this number will allow you to reach healthcare providers that can aid with mental health struggles. Another service offered by SAMHSA is a confidential service for anyone facing mental and substance abuse disorders. This service will allow individuals to find local treatment and is available 24 hours a day, every day of the year. This service is offered in both Spanish and English and can be reached with the phone number, [redacted]

Wikipedia articles are supposed to report on what reliable sources say about a topic, they are not supposed to give advice to readers or to serve as a directory. These are core Wikipedia policies outlined in Wikipedia:What Wikipedia is not. It's a bad idea to include this sort of information in Wikipedia for a variety of reasons, but one of the main ones is that we shouldn't encourage people to make health decisions based on information they find in a website with user-created content. It's fine to accept information in Wikipedia in low-stakes settings, but it's very risky when this is information that someone needs in a life-or-death situation. It's far too easy for someone to change a phone number in an article like this, and while it will be reverted eventually, that might be hours later. A person in a mental health crisis who might stumble across that page probably won't be in the best position to check the page history to figure out when that information was added (most readers don't even know they can do that) or check the sources. It's easy for someone to insert harmful information into that page for the fun of it, and have that result in actual harm.

Another important issue that Pppery alluded to - you are edit warring. If someone reverts your addition you should never re-add that information to Wikipedia without first discussing the issue and coming to a resolution. Edit warring is seriously problematic.
