Superman: Earth One

One thing to keep in mind in general when writing synopses: It should usually be written in the present tense, not the past tense, as explained by WP:PLOTPRESENT. This means that instead of "Elsewhere, an extraterrestrial ship landed somewhere in a desert", it should be "lands in the desert." Similarly, "In Clark’s apartment, Lisa got the job as a model and they celebrate." should be "gets the job..."

One notable exception to this is when you're explaining something that occurs in flashback, where it is reasonable to describe it in the past tense. Thus, when you write "In retaliation, he gives the Dheronians the weapon to destroy Krypton.", it should be "he gave the Dheronians the weapon to destroy Krypton."

Aside from that, there were a few passages that I did not understand:

"Alexandra, play the footage of Superman’s battle with Tyrell, revealing that Superman is vulnerable to red solar radiation."
Who do they play it to? Do they view it privately, or they present it to the UN? This needs to be clarified. If it's just themselves, then I would reword it slightly to say, "Dr. Alexander Luthor and his wife, Alexandra, reviewing footage of Superman’s battle with Tyrell, learn that Superman is vulnerable to red solar radiation."

"Clark decides to confront Lois of what he found out from his family and friends. Lois admits to Clark that she doubts the validity of his Superman story in addition of upset of being scooped by him. However, Lois reveals to Clark that she has ceased her investigation because she now sees Clark is gentle and thus perhaps not capable of fabricating the story."
This seems contradictory. If she thinks that the story is fraudulent, then how can she be upset that he out-scooped her?? And if she doubts his story's validity, how can she conclude that he's not capable of fabricating it? I'm completely confused by what this passage is attempting to convey. I've removed the passage from the article, but feel free to restore it if you can write it to clearly convey what happened in this scene.

"Zod later meets the United Nations’ members...""
Where? Is this an informal meeting somewhere, like in a bar with representatives of some of its member nations? Or do you merely mean that he addressed the United Nations while it was in session? I'm assuming the latter, and edited it accordingly, but I just wanted to be sure.

"In the Fortress of Solitude, the ship reveals that prior to Krypton's destruction, it was in the middle of a global civil war led by Zod."
A "civil war" cannot be lead by one person, because a war requires a minimum of two sides. He could've led one side, or do you mean that he was manipulating both sides in order to pit them against each other without either's knowledge? Who were the two sides, and if he was just leading one of them, what was the other composed of?

Hope that helps. Nightscream (talk) 05:46, 12 February 2015 (UTC)

Use of non-free content in list articles

Please do not keep adding non-free images to List of The 100 episodes. As I explained in this edit summary, use of the series logo in that article violates both criteria 1 and criteria 8 of Wikipedia's non-free content policy. As the logo says "The 100" it would be possible to create a free equivalent (note that this does not mean identical), and it would be unlikely that the requirements of WP:NFCC#8 could be satisfied in a list article. Inclusion of a non-free use rationale is not sufficient to justify use of the series logo in the article. --AussieLegend () 03:22, 24 February 2015 (UTC)

Terrorism film category

Seems to me that "Films about terrorism" and "Terrorism in fiction" are overlapping subsets but neither completely a subset of the other. The first category could ostensibly include documentaries (i.e. nonfictional content) on terrorism, which the latter would not. Why did you make the former a subcategory of the latter then? --Izno (talk) 16:29, 17 March 2015 (UTC)

Film's financial success

NeoBatfreak, just to explain my recent revert, film revenue is very tricky. First, you often have multiple investors who are expecting a return on their money. For example, if a film makes $50 million, some may see that on the surface as a success, however, the real determination depends on how many investors were involved; the more there are, the more mouths to feed from the profits. Those investors also had to wait several years, which is a lot of risk for something that barely pays a profit. Also, we should keep in mind that sales overseas do not pay as well as domestic sales. In the U.S., studios get 50-55% of the revenue, but overseas, that percentage can drop to as low as 15% depending on the country. The average return overseas is closer to 40%.

And finally, there's advertising. A film's budget doesn't include promotions and advertising. A film like Terminator Genisys may cost the studios as much as $100 or more to market to the public. That's on top of its $155 million budget. When you take all these factors into account, it's safer to say that the film has yet to break even at this point and likely still in the red financially. Investors are clearly nervous about investing in future sequels. While the sequels have been announced, they're not final and can still be cancelled. That's actually received a lot of press lately, that the sequels themselves are still in doubt as a result of this film's failure to meet expectations. We'll see how it pans out, but it's definitely too early to call it a success in my opinion. --GoneIn60 (talk) 19:16, 6 August 2015 (UTC)

Is Category:Television series about women really required? I'm not seeing a Category:Television series about men... Alex|The|Whovian 06:15, 16 September 2015 (UTC)

Not really sure, actually. But since there is a Category:Films about women, so I think, what the heck.--NeoBatfreak (talk) 06:20, 16 September 2015 (UTC)

Terminator films

I noticed you edit these on almost a daily basis, constantly tweaking minor items. While I appreciate the effort, please keep an eye out for vandalism in previous edits before making a new one. The reason I'm asking, is because when you update the page ignoring a previous one that was vandalism, then it hides the edit (I can only see the last edit in my watchlist, which is usually your edit). I have to go into the History of the page and search every time. If you were to start looking for it yourself, then that would definitely help cut down on the amount of work it takes to weed out the vandals! Thanks in advance! --GoneIn60 (talk) 17:54, 16 September 2015 (UTC)

Disputed non-free use rationale for File:A Flash's death (Crisis on Infinite Earths).png

Thank you for uploading File:A Flash's death (Crisis on Infinite Earths).png. However, there is a concern that the rationale provided for using this file on Wikipedia may not meet the criteria required by Wikipedia:Non-free content. This can be corrected by going to the file description page and adding or clarifying the reason why the file qualifies under this policy. Adding and completing one of the templates available from Wikipedia:Non-free use rationale guideline is an easy way to ensure that your file is in compliance with Wikipedia policy. Please be aware that a non-free use rationale is not the same as an image copyright tag; descriptions for files used under the non-free content policy require both a copyright tag and a non-free use rationale.

If it is determined that the file does not qualify under the non-free content policy, it might be deleted by an administrator within a few days in accordance with our criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions, please ask them at the media copyright questions page. Thank you. DMacks (talk) 06:09, 24 November 2015 (UTC)

Hi,
You appear to be eligible to vote in the current Arbitration Committee election. The Arbitration Committee is the panel of editors responsible for conducting the Wikipedia arbitration process. It has the authority to enact binding solutions for disputes between editors, primarily related to serious behavioural issues that the community has been unable to resolve. This includes the ability to impose site bans, topic bans, editing restrictions, and other measures needed to maintain our editing environment. The arbitration policy describes the Committee's roles and responsibilities in greater detail. If you wish to participate, you are welcome to review the candidates' statements and submit your choices on the voting page.
