Your Feelings

I certainly don't like that you were practically beaten into submission with illogical "I don't like it"s to delete your vandalspace. What were your feelings? 2D Maestro Immune Diplomat 11:54, 31 May 2010 (UTC)

I don't really care about my vandalism space anymore now that it's deleted. ~NerdyScienceDude () 21:14, 1 June 2010 (UTC)
I would like to jump in and state a comment in reply to Maestro it that's all right - in the Mfd, I didn't see any user state that the page should be deleted because "they don't like it". Logical reasons were given, including the page being distractive and containing inappropriate and hurtful material. ~SuperHamster Talk Contribs 21:24, 1 June 2010 (UTC)

Just so you know...

Your vandalbox got deleted... and mine has also apparently been nominated for MFD as well. The Thing That Should Not Be (talk) 05:17, 1 June 2010 (UTC)

Apparently Mono has now gone around after my MfD and nominated as many vandalism spaces as he could find for deletion. It looks like vandalism spaces are now depreciated. If it does get deleted, then you could have an admin semi-protect your user page, as that has happened here as a result of the MfD. I had to !vote delete just to be fair after the outcome of my vandalism space. ~NerdyScienceDude () 13:59, 1 June 2010 (UTC)
I feel that these vandalism spaces are useful in that they keep vandalism off the article space. In conclusion, I 'strongly' oppose the deletion of these pages, and I have !voted keep on The thing that should not be's vandalbox. Regards. Immunize (talk) 13:11, 3 June 2010 (UTC)

New Award

The Anti-Vandalism Barnstar

Thanks! This is the right place to give awards. ~NerdyScienceDude () 15:47, 3 June 2010 (UTC)

UAA

I was curious about the username "Sukerkou". You wrote "Violation of username policy because it's a disruptive username; Contains suker, an homoglyph of sucker"

Can you clarify how this is disruptive? Becky Sayles (talk) 10:19, 3 June 2010 (UTC)

It thought it referred to being a sucker. I thought suker meant sucker. ~NerdyScienceDude () 13:04, 3 June 2010 (UTC)
I understand the similarity. But is "sucker" a problem? Is there a list of inherently disruptive terms? Becky Sayles (talk) 09:29, 4 June 2010 (UTC)
There's a list at User:SoxBot/UAA/Blacklist, which is what the bot uses. ~NerdyScienceDude () 13:47, 4 June 2010 (UTC)

Thanks for the reply

While I know how to create a account, how can I go with it *after* creating it. Thanks! --OpenTheWindows, sir! 18:16, 3 June 2010 (UTC)

To use igloo, you will need to leave requests at WP:PERM/C and WP:PERM/R. Mention the fact that it is an alternate account for vandal fighting so you can get the user rights. Good luck! ~NerdyScienceDude () 18:19, 3 June 2010 (UTC)
Or you could have just come to my talk page ;). I'm always happy to grant rollback in particular and permissions in general- NSD, you;re welcome to send people to me (not sure if it's any quicker than WP:PERM, but it's more personal!). HJ Mitchell | Penny for your thoughts? 23:42, 3 June 2010 (UTC)

ExtraEdit

Any idea what is going on with this User? They've been messing around a bit, and then they tried to tag themselves as a sock of Dingbat2007. Brambleclawx 00:50, 4 June 2010 (UTC)

I first got into this user when he blanked another user's talk page. He'll eventually get blocked if he continues to vandalize. ~NerdyScienceDude () 00:52, 4 June 2010 (UTC)
I was quite confused when i saw the sockpuppet template. I'll keep an eye on the user then. Brambleclawx 00:53, 4 June 2010 (UTC)

Soap's RfA

Hi, NSD. Could you please consider withdrawing your co-nomination and instead presenting your endorsement in the form of a standard support vote? I know at least two other users are considering adding their own co-noms, and, with all due respect, your statement doesn't add much additional information. Your reinforcement of my initial blurb is appreciated, but unfortunately I think it might not be necessary. Best regards, Juliancolton (talk) 20:21, 8 June 2010 (UTC)

I'm just letting you know I've removed your !vote on my RfA, just in the interest of staying within the strictest interpretation of the RfA guidelines. I don't mean to create the impression that I don't appreciate your support, seeing as you've had both a co-nomination and a support !vote scrubbed out; I really am grateful that you support me and have taken an interest in my RfA. If my RfA succeeds I will do my best to live up to the expectations you and the others have shown with your eager support !votes. Soap 12:35, 9 June 2010 (UTC)

"Image to avoid"

Could you please come up with a better edit summary? It is not clear why you are making infoboxes unbalanced by removing placeholder images. -Rrius (talk) 02:45, 9 June 2010 (UTC)

(ec EdwardsBot below) The top of File:No male portrait.svg clearly states, "Do not add this image to article pages. The proposal to add such images to articles has been rejected." So technically it is an image to avoid. I was just going through and removing instances of the image appearing in articles. ~NerdyScienceDude () 12:05, 9 June 2010 (UTC)
I'm not sure I read the tag or the linked article the same way, but, in any event, calling it an "image to avoid" makes it sound as though this is a defined term we should all know. I really think a more precise edit summary would be helpful. -Rrius (talk) 18:57, 9 June 2010 (UTC)

Grab some glory, and a barnstar

Hi, I'd like to invite you to participate in the Guild of Copy Editors July 2010 Backlog Elimination Drive. In May, about 30 editors helped remove the {{copyedit}} tag from 1175 articles. The backlog is still over 7500 articles, and extends back to the beginning of 2008! We really need your help to reduce it. Copyediting just a couple articles can qualify you for a barnstar. Serious copyeditors can win prestigious and exclusive rewards. See the event page for more information. And thanks for your consideration. mono 00:38, 12 June 2010 (UTC)

I've signed up for it. ~NerdyScienceDude () 00:47, 12 June 2010 (UTC)
Thank you very much for signing up for the July Backlog Elimination Drive! The copyedit backlog stretches back two and a half years, all the way back to the beginning of 2008! We're really going to need all the help we can muster to get it down to a manageable number. We've ambitiously set a goal of clearing all of 2008 from the backlog this month. In order to do that, we're going to need more participants. Is there anyone that you can invite or ask to participate with you? If so, we're offering an award to the person who brings in the most referrals. Just notify ɳorɑfʈ Talk! or Diannaa TALK of who your referrals are. Once again, thanks for your support! Re this, see the talkpage, one user has indicated that the photo is part of an Apple developer package, either way the source is not specified. To be more blunt, the rights are Apple's, but there is not explanation of where the image is from. Reviewer permission

Hello. Your account has been granted the "reviewer" userright, allowing you to review other users' edits on certain flagged pages. Pending changes, also known as flagged protection, will be commencing a two-month trial at approximately 23:00, 2010 June 15 (UTC).

Reviewers can review edits made by users who are not autoconfirmed to articles placed under flagged protection. Flagged protection is applied to only a small number of articles, similarly to how semi-protection is applied but in a more controlled way for the trial.

When reviewing, edits should be accepted if they are not obvious vandalism or BLP violations, and not clearly problematic in light of the reason given for protection (see Wikipedia:Reviewing process). More detailed documentation and guidelines can be found here.

If you do not want this userright, you may ask any administrator to remove it for you at any time. HJ Mitchell | Penny for your thoughts? 03:48, 16 June 2010 (UTC)

Oh, I already figured it out since the pending changes reviewer interface appeared on the affected articles. Did you notice the topicon? That means I have reviewer. I'll add the title thingy to your user and talk pages since you asked nicely. ~NerdyScienceDude () 14:12, 16 June 2010 (UTC)

2010 Food City 500 is too old for DYK. An article must be created or 5x expanded within a week of nomination excluding April Fools Day. Sorry. ~NerdyScienceDude () 22:00, 10 June 2010 (UTC)
Its okay, I was just wondering. --Nascar1996 22:01, 10 June 2010 (UTC)
I believe a NASCAR editor (other than me) should contribute NASCAR news that appears on the Main Page. Do you agree or disagree. I'm wanting to know because on some talk pages I see a tag about this article has had news (or something) to appear on the Main Page or that box on the bottom around Commons tag.— Preceding unsigned comment added by Nascar1996 (talkcontribs)
I was actually thinking the same thing. Probably the only NASCAR things that would stand a chance to appear on the ITN section would be the Daytona 500, the championship race, and any notable deaths, such as when Richard Petty would die. The individual race articles other than the ones I mentioned wouldn't be too notable to appear on the ITN. ~NerdyScienceDude () 18:36, 11 June 2010 (UTC)
What about records, such as championships, wins, and even pole maybe? --Nascar1996 20:48, 11 June 2010 (UTC)
Maybe if a driver broke Richard Petty's win number (200), though that seems unlikely at this moment. ~NerdyScienceDude () 20:56, 11 June 2010 (UTC)

What type of photo do you beleive sould be added to 2010 NASCAR races, a image of the driver or the car or does it matter? --Nascar1996 21:12, 11 June 2010 (UTC)

A picture of the car racing in that particular race would be the best, but there haven't been any freely-licensed ones. You might find something on Flickr, but it has to be freely licensed, as in commercial use is allowed. ~NerdyScienceDude () 21:16, 11 June 2010 (UTC)
There are a lot of 2008 images of the cars. Also, I have been looking on Flickr. --Nascar1996 21:18, 11 June 2010 (UTC)
2010 Aaron's 499 is currently under review and the reviewer is talking about where "On x lap" is everywhere. Do you know how we could reword it because I don't. --Nascar1996 03:18, 15 June 2010 (UTC)
I am not sure either how to reword it. The lap numbers make sense in my opinion as they tell when each event occurred. ~NerdyScienceDude () 03:57, 15 June 2010 (UTC)
That is what I thought, too. It is also the race mostly because of the lead changes and leaders. --Nascar1996 03:59, 15 June 2010 (UTC)

We just lost four - five GAs because of the situation with User:Xtzou. --Nascar1996 14:08, 15 June 2010 (UTC)

That's disappointing. It also appears they were delisted because of the same prose issue with 2010 Aaron's 499. I will go and finish the results for 2010 Heluva Good! Sour Cream Dips 400. ~NerdyScienceDude () 14:43, 15 June 2010 (UTC)
Yea thats what I think, too, but that is the only way we can tell viewers when the event happened. --Nascar1996 14:52, 15 June 2010 (UTC)
I seen that you nominated me for reviewer, and I have read all of the infomration but I am still confused of what exactly you can do? Will you please help? --Nascar1996 18:20, 15 June 2010 (UTC)
Also, I believe you should remove or hide the GAs of our that was recently delisted. I would have done it, but I wanted to talk to you first--Nascar1996 23:06, 15 June 2010 (UTC)
I adjusted the click links to use the former GA icon. ~NerdyScienceDude () 23:14, 15 June 2010 (UTC)

Nice job on your script, but you had to create it AFTER I memorized the code! :) It will become very useful in my editing. --Nascar1996 23:38, 17 June 2010 (UTC)

Thanks; I'm glad you like it. ~NerdyScienceDude () 23:51, 17 June 2010 (UTC)
You're Welcome. Yea, I like the beta version of Wikipedia better, but a couple weeks ago it looked like I would have to change back because I lost my editing tools. When I added scripts to my vector skin and refreshed it, it wouldn't work, but I finaly got it fixed so now I can edit on the beta version. --Nascar1996 23:56, 17 June 2010 (UTC)
That's good to hear. My goal with this script is to provide functionality that the old toolbar offered. ~NerdyScienceDude () 00:00, 18 June 2010 (UTC)
I surprised that the one who created it didn't add all of that material. Evenually I may need to start a new section so this one could be archived, or it would never be. --Nascar1996 00:06, 18 June 2010 (UTC)
Indeed; this thread was started on May 9. It is probably a good idea to start a new thread. ~NerdyScienceDude () 00:08, 18 June 2010 (UTC)
I agree. --Nascar1996 00:09, 18 June 2010 (UTC)

Alll about this: [1] to User:NerdyScienceDude

I have NO idea whatsoever how this happened. I have never touched the twinkle buttons and I would only do it after reading a page several times. I looked a my contributions and found that it happened a minute after I placed the cookie on your talk page. I cannot remember re-visiting your user or talk page. --sillybillypiggy 16:14, 23 June 2010 (UTC). PS:Have you changed your page around so your navigation bar has 7 at the top and 7 at the bottom or is it my computer going funny?

(edit conflict) At least it wasn't intentional. And yes, I intentionally changed the navigation to be in two rows so it looks better on iPhones, which the navbar looked like a jumbled mess before on the small screen. ~NerdyScienceDude () 16:20, 23 June 2010 (UTC)

Delisted GAs

If you are not busy, will you help me try to fix grammer, spelling, and other mistakes on the article we both expanded? I would like to get these back to Ga status, but I am not expecting them to. For a example you may want to go here; it is at Ga level and is very close to the other articles. --Nascar1996 (sign) 02:33, 18 June 2010 (UTC)

You could just move on and try to get future races to GA level; which also sounds good to me. As of now, the editors sound like these articles are C-class and not even close to GA. --Nascar1996 (sign) 02:44, 18 June 2010 (UTC)

I'm re-reviewing an article at Talk:2010 Showtime Southern 500/GA2. I will try my best to pick the article to pieces ;) Airplaneman 03:44, 18 June 2010 (UTC)
Thanks for doing that, Airplaneman. I have already fixed some typos. ~NerdyScienceDude () 13:30, 18 June 2010 (UTC)
Nerdy Science Dude, do you remember when I asked about putting NASCAR is WikiNews, and you said probably not. Well I found some NASCAR articles in Category:Auto Racing. --Nascar1996 (sign) 14:20, 19 June 2010 (UTC)
Hello, you might be interested in assessing these articles. Please note that as of June 20th, there were 193 articles unassessed. Thanks. --Nascar1996 (sign) 04:26, 20 June 2010 (UTC)

It looks like the discussion has been closed. I went ahead and moved the page to List of NASCAR Sprint Cup Series champions, which added NASCAR and decapitalized champions. ~NerdyScienceDude () 13:06, 21 June 2010 (UTC)
How do you think the list would do if I nominated it for Featured Status? --Nascar1996 (sign) 22:01, 21 June 2010 (UTC)
Nerdy Science Dude, I have a question to ask. The reviewer of [[2010 Aaron's 499 finaly figured out how to fix it, but the articel he chose and most of the others are not similair to this articel. He gave me until the end of the month to fix it, but how the race happend I don't believe it will pass anyway. Do you think I should tell him to fail it for now and nominate it later down the road? --Nascar1996 Contribs / Tasks 03:40, 23 June 2010 (UTC)
I like your DYK nomination of the list. --Nascar1996 Contribs / Tasks 14:22, 23 June 2010 (UTC)
I didn't know you were watching that. :) As for the Aaron's 499, we should fix the prose for that article and 2010 Showtime Southern 500, which are currently being reviewed. Then we should fix the prose 2010 Food City 500 and 2010 Goody's Fast Pain Relief 500, which are currently GAs. We should hold off on GA noms for the rest of the race articles until we fix the prose issues. ~NerdyScienceDude () 14:33, 23 June 2010 (UTC)

I believe I should unnominate most of the racing article exept for the two most recent ones that I havce expanded because I think those are the best out of them all. We should fix the two GA before they are delisted, but I don't believe they will because the GA reviewers and peer reviewers did a better job than Xtzou. How do you like my new signature? --Nascar1996 Contribs / Tasks 14:41, 23 June 2010 (UTC)

I like it, but I would prefer you not link to your tasks page, as that is more of a personal thing. ~NerdyScienceDude () 14:55, 23 June 2010 (UTC)
I have that on their just in case people want to help. So do you think I should remove some GANs? --Nascar1996 Contribs / Tasks 14:58, 23 June 2010 (UTC)
I'm going to remove all GAN's from me exept two or three. Is this okay with you? --Nascar1996 Contribs / Tasks 16:25, 23 June 2010 (UTC)
Will you see if I added the proper configuration on Talk:NASCAR? --Nascar1996 Contribs / Tasks 21:48, 23 June 2010 (UTC)
Do you think List of NASCAR champions is ready to be deleted? --Nascar1996 Contribs / Tasks 00:08, 24 June 2010 (UTC)

Since you have all ready created a Portal, will you help me create a Portal:NASCAR? --Nascar1996 Contribs / Tasks 02:56, 24 June 2010 (UTC)

I have created Portal:NASCAR. We'll need to decide what content to add. WP:PORTAL contains some good information. ~NerdyScienceDude () 13:52, 24 June 2010 (UTC)
I'll think of content, but can you please change the color it seeem more like a Formula 1 color instead of a NASCAR color. --Nascar1996 Contribs / Tasks 14:05, 24 June 2010 (UTC)

Hello, if you would like, you can nominate anything such as images, biographies, articles and Did you knows, just add it on the talkpages. I may or may not approve them. Note: You can make up any DYKs. --Nascar1996 Contribs / Tasks 22:48, 24 June 2010 (UTC)

I filled out everything for now, but the Bot who deals with the News isn't adding news there. What could be wrong? --Nascar1996 Contribs / Tasks 00:09, 25 June 2010 (UTC)
Excellent job with the portal! As for the bot, just be patient. It isn't instantaneous. ~NerdyScienceDude () 00:39, 25 June 2010 (UTC)
Thanks, I tried very hard on it. I added the news anyway. --Nascar1996 Contribs / Tasks 00:43, 25 June 2010 (UTC)
How good do you think this portal is? Like stub, start, C, B, GA, A, or Featured. Please reply. Thanks.--Nascar1996 Contribs / Tasks 03:24, 27 June 2010 (UTC)
Portals aren't rated the way articles are. Portals could become featured portals, but that's about it. Portal class and FP class. ~NerdyScienceDude () 13:04, 27 June 2010 (UTC)
I know, but how would you rate it? --Nascar1996 Contribs / Tasks 13:25, 27 June 2010 (UTC)
I'd rate it as a portal. Featured portals have to be reviewed just like good articles, but the criteria is different. ~NerdyScienceDude () 13:27, 27 June 2010 (UTC)
O.K. I've been updating the news on the portal so it wouldn't be outdated. --Nascar1996 Contribs / Tasks 13:59, 27 June 2010 (UTC)

Take a look

You might be interested in this and this. I realized that the guestbook and two secret page templates all looked cheesy, so I decided to just make two icons. They use topicon, in case you want to use them. ~~ Hi878 (Come yell at me!) 04:04, 25 June 2010 (UTC)

Thanks for telling me, thought I probably won't use them since I don't want too many topicons. I have plenty. ~NerdyScienceDude () 01:52, 26 June 2010 (UTC)
Whatever. :) By the way, I'm asking Jimbo if I can make his guestbook icon work with the topicon template, so it can fit better with your icons. ~~ Hi878 (Come yell at me!) 05:46, 26 June 2010 (UTC)
I changed it. You can figure out how to make it work. :) ~~ Hi878 (Come yell at me!) 18:04, 26 June 2010 (UTC)
And I've adjusted my topicons. Does it still look messy in Monobook? ~NerdyScienceDude () 21:21, 26 June 2010 (UTC)
It looks perfect, except the heart is on the right side behind the other icon. ~~ Hi878 (Come yell at me!) 00:42, 27 June 2010 (UTC)
On vector, the heart is displayed directly below the rollback icon. If you want the heart to use {{top icon}}, then you should contact the Love Cabal. ~NerdyScienceDude () 13:07, 27 June 2010 (UTC)

Just a query on a revert

Just a query on this revert at Talk:HMAS Melbourne (R21)...it seems to be slightly overkill for a first edit on a talkpage asking a question. -- saberwyn 03:35, 28 June 2010 (UTC)

I reverted that edit because it violated WP:NOTFORUM. I had no idea it was a first edit. ~NerdyScienceDude () 14:55, 28 June 2010 (UTC)
