I believe that your response on Talk:Holidays in Canada was incorrect. After looking over three websites; one Canadian government site, and one Newfoundland government site, it implies that employers and local municipalities set the date of the civic holiday. It appears your employer or municipality has decided on August 1st. Also, I suggest you take charge on WIkipedia and check facts and change articles yourself.
