February 2017[edit]

Information icon Hello, I'm Emir of Wikipedia. Wikipedia is written by people who have a wide diversity of opinions, but we try hard to make sure articles have a neutral point of view. Your recent edit to Betsy DeVos seemed less than neutral to me, so I removed it for now. If you think I made a mistake, or if you have any questions, you can leave me a message on my talk page. Thank you. Emir of Wikipedia (talk) 15:05, 23 February 2017 (UTC)[reply]

@Nick.aus96:,@Emir of Wikipedia: Wouldn't it be better if this discussion occurred at the talk page of the article? Some of this is a question of editor judgment. Emir: I agree and disagree with some of your assertions and we need to find consensus. --David Tornheim (talk) 16:29, 23 February 2017 (UTC)[reply]

February 2017[edit]

Information icon Please do not add promotional material to Wikipedia, as you did to Lemonade. While objective prose about beliefs, organisations, people, products or services is acceptable, Wikipedia is not intended to be a vehicle for soapboxing, advertising or promotion. Thank you. – FenixFeather (talk)(Contribs) 07:23, 24 February 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Sorry for any inconvenience! I'm still new to Wikipedia (primarily utilizing it for a school project right now), and I'm trying to get used to some of the proper formats and rules to follow. Sorry for accidentally breaking the rule!Nick.aus96 (talk) 23:14, 24 February 2017 (UTC)[reply]

signature[edit]

Just a kind note: when you write a post on a talk page, make sure to add a signature at the end by using four tildes ("~~~~"). --David Tornheim (talk) 20:22, 24 February 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks for the help! I am new to Wikipedia (primarily using it for a school project), and I've found the rules and proper syntaxes to be a bit overwhelming! Thanks for also being kind when dealing with my Betsy Devos edits - I'll admit that parts could have been better formatted, but I appreciate you taking the time to have a civil discussion with me about them rather than simply removing them! It helps me learn how to improve in the future! Nick.aus96 (talk) 23:16, 24 February 2017 (UTC)[reply]

March 2017[edit]

Information icon Hello. Thank you for your contributions to Wikipedia.

When editing Wikipedia, there is a field labeled "Edit summary" below the main edit box. It looks like this:

Edit summary (Briefly describe your changes)

I noticed your recent edit to Jeff Sessions does not have an edit summary. Please be sure to provide a summary of every edit you make, even if you write only the briefest of summaries. The summaries are very helpful to people browsing an article's history.

Edit summary content is visible in:

Please use the edit summary to explain your reasoning for the edit, or a summary of what the edit changes. You can give yourself a reminder to add an edit summary by setting Preferences → Editing → check Prompt me when entering a blank edit summary. However, i must add - really nice work done with the references! Thanks for the great work you do! Yashovardhan (talk) 19:53, 18 March 2017 (UTC)[reply]

@Yashovardhan Dhanania: Thanks for the input! Still new to Wikipedia, so I will be sure to utilize this in the future!Nick.aus96 (talk) 19:58, 18 March 2017 (UTC)[reply]
