Cool! OK, there are two ways in which you can give permission to use content on the website (see "[edit]Copyright owners who submitted their own work to Wikipedia"):

Make a note permitting reuse under the Creative Commons Attribution-Sharealike 3.0 Unported License (CC-BY-SA) and the GNU Free Documentation License (GFDL) (unversioned, with no invariant sections, front-cover texts, or back-cover texts) at the site of the original publication (make sure that you carefully read the CC-BY-SA licence and the GFDL license.)
Send an email from an address associated with the original publication to permissions-commons@wikimedia.org or a postal message to the Wikimedia Foundation, ideally using the email template at WP:CONSENT. (for the postal address, see here; for the ideal template to use in email, see WP:CONSENT.)

In some ways, the easiest way is to change the copyright notice on the website - but that means that anything on the website (or on the specific page, if the licence said something like "Any content on this page can be reused under the CC-BY-SA and GFDL licences, but all other pages are not so licenced, unless this licensing message is present") can be reused or adapted, as per the terms of the licences above.

If you send an e-mail (from something@goldstarpr.com) to the Foundation, you can give permission for a specific image (or a specific piece of text) to be used on Wikipedia using the CC-BY-SA and GFDL licences. The email template at WP:CONSENT is very clear - but you need to make sure that you fill in all the fields!

In fact, looking at the consent form notes, if you intend on putting images on Wikipedia, you send the e-mail to permissions-en@wikimedia.org otherwise you send it to permissions-commons@wikimedia.org if you intend on putting it on Commons.

Commons is an online repository of images, sound and other multimedia files. It is a project of the Wikimedia Foundation, from which uploaded files can be used across all Wikimedia projects in all languages, including Wikipedia, Wikibooks, Wikisource and Wikinews, or downloaded for offsite use..

Also from that page: Wikimedia Commons itself does not allow fair use or uploads under non-free licenses, including licenses which restrict commercial use of materials or disallow derivative works. Licenses that are acceptable include the GNU Free Documentation License, Creative Commons Attribution and Attribution/ShareAlike licenses, other free content and free software licenses, and the public domain.

So, if you want the images available for any of the WikiMedia Projects (like the other Wikipedias), then put it on Commons. If you only want it on the English Wikipedia, just put it on Wikipedia!

Hi - Thanks for your reply / resolution suggestions. i wasnt that clear in explaining my situation,apologies! and i dont have an account for Goldstar,i only have an email address for them(sorry my fault) ,so from reading the above,this isnt of any help to you or me. (i think?)

best if i start over and explain why i believe the above two options arent of any use(correct me if im wrong though)

2.i dont have an email account for goldstar,i only have an email address for them (not one which i own - sorry i misled you ealrier) so i cant write to the foundation

the text/photos on the goldstar link , i own the copyright to. I gave them to goldstar to put on there site.When i put them on the my relevant wiki page the modbot correctly recognised them from the goldstar site,but this is what i had provided them in the first place,as explained above i am the copyright holder - how can i go about this now? (does this mean that i should of got this text/info put up on my own website before goldstar did? surely this cant be the case for every situation like this? ) i appreciate your help,cheers.

OK, let me respond to the situation as you have outlined it above!

~~Firstly, as you say, option 1 is not possible - GoldStar would be very unlikely to want any content on their site to be released under the CC-BY-SA and GFDL licences.~~ - ignore this: see the paragraph below starting "However,..."

Secondly, the fact that your content is on their website which clearly shows the copyright to all content as belonging to Goldstar is a problem. What we need to do is to find a way to prove that you are the copyright owner of the text and the pictures. Offhand, I can't think of a way to prove this. - see next paragraph

However, looking at the wording on Goldstar's site ("You’ll find biographys, press clips, promo photos and release art for use in magazines, fanzines etc. All of the photos are in hi-res 300 dpi, for print. The photos are free to publish in magazines, fanzines and other printed or web-based media."), it is possible that we could use it anyway.

As I am not an expert in such matters, I have left a message on Wikipedia:Media copyright questions (you can find the thread here asking for advise. Feel free to look at what I wrote there, and comment as you feel fit. I have asked that if anyone responds, they might want to leave you a "talkback" which will tell you that you have messages there. I don't know that I can do any more, as to be honest, this situation is beyond my knowledge!

Hopefully, some of the knowledgeable bods there will be able to help!
