Article title

I agree, 2015 Sampson Flat bushfires would be a much more accurate name for the article. I believe Adelaide bushfires was what everyone (including the media) ran with because they did effect some substantial part of Adelaide (or the hills at least) and at the time, posed a strong threat of spreading into the inner metropolitan area. Residents of Greenwith and neighbouring northern suburbs were told to evacuate as a precaution. These areas may be "fringe suburbs", or geographically distant from the CBD, but they still constitute as being a part of Greater Adelaide or Adelaide itself. I think I named the article as such because at the time, it was very early on, and I probably thought it would effect the city itself rather than just the outskirts. If you want to move the article to a more appropriate name then I don't mind. I just gave it a rough start in hopes other people would contribute in light of further information, which they did. List of predecessors of sovereign states in Asia

Hello Nick Mitchell 98,

I saw you were expanding an article. Great! States of Germany

Your last but one edit to States of Germany did not have an edit summary, but I see that you changed the entries in the infobox from a version that was consistent with the template documentation to a version that is not. Can you explain why you did that (or self-revert)? --Boson (talk) 18:40, 25 July 2015 (UTC)

I am confused as to what you mean by "Your last but one edit to States of Germany did not have an edit summary" and "you changed the entries in the infobox from a version that was consistent with the template documentation to a version that is not", can you please clarify what you mean. Thanks. Nick Mitchell 98 (talk)
If you look at the template documentation, you will see that
  1. the field "category" has content such as "country", in this case the correct value is "federated state"; you added a number in parentheses
  2. the field "current_number" has a numeral, the example given is 32; in this case the correct number is 16; you removed the number
  3. the field "subdivision has singular nouns, such as "rural district"; you changed the singular nouns to plural
I presume the idea of giving examples in the documentation is to aid consistency, indicating which articles should be changed when usage is inconsistent.
On the other hand, I assumed that you had some reason for your changes, so I asked.
I have now changed the infobox fields to match the documentation. --Boson (talk) 19:51, 31 July 2015 (UTC)
I understand. Thank you for talking and explaining this to me, I appreciate it. The only thing is that you forgot capitalisation is some of your edits, I have corrected this. Thanks again. Nick Mitchell 98 (talk)

I have no intention of getting involved in an edit war with you but following your reversion of my edit you should note the following. A) the Chinese style guide that says "[w]here there is more than one parameter in use in a given article, an {{Infobox Chinese}} box can be used instead of {{zh}}. This removes the characters, romanization and pronunciations from the opening sentence, thus making it more readable, while retaining the information off to the side so that the reader can still see it". B) Chinese does not use definite articles (it uses a classifier system but that's a different matter) such that 大清 is literally "Great Qing".  Philg88 talk 11:48, 3 August 2015 (UTC)

I understand your point and do not want to enter into an edit war either. However, could the status quo please be maintained until another matter is resolved over the naming formats of the articles (primarily in their infoboxes, please see this talk page for context). That way, one problem can be resolved at a time. Nick Mitchell 98 (talk) 11:53, 3 August 2015 (UTC)
Thanks for the heads up Nick, although these are separate issues. The infobox/lede matter is one of style and the other a matter of naming conventions. We already have consensus for the former, per the Chinese style guide. I've suggested at Cartakes' talk that the conversation is opened to a wider audience. Cheers,  Philg88 talk 12:09, 3 August 2015 (UTC)

List of proposed state mergers

Hi Nick Mitchell 98. Please have a look at this and let me know. Thanks, Rui ''Gabriel'' Correia (talk) 14:46, 24 September 2015 (UTC)

You weren't the one who added information about Once Upon a Time but you did improve the information about that series. I had added similar information when I didn't see the other section. Hoever, I was reverted by Edward321. I told him the information I added was every bit as worthwhile as other information in that section, though I worded it to say if you revert me, then you revert that information too. And he did throw out the rest of the section. I'm looking for support to add back the information, but in the section where the Once Upon a Time information is. — Vchimpanzee • talk • contributions • 18:41, 12 October 2015 (UTC)

Disambiguation link notification for November 4

Hi. Thank you for your recent edits. Wikipedia appreciates your help. We noticed though that when you edited Seymour, Victoria, you added a link pointing to the disambiguation page GEM. Such links are almost always unintended, since a disambiguation page is merely a list of "Did you mean..." article titles. Read the FAQ • Join us at the DPL WikiProject.

Doctor Who

I'm not entirely sure where the discussion was about moving a page that had existed under its current name without issue for the past however-many years... The specials are known as the 2008–2010 Specials, not the 2008–10 Specials. Alex|The|Whovian 02:19, 22 November 2015 (UTC)

I moved the page as the manual of style for article titles formats the years in the title as "(2008-10)", not "(2008-2010)". I may be incorrect, but I believe that a technical move such as this to correct an article to follow the manual of style does not need a consensus. Nick Mitchell 98 (talk) 02:21, 22 November 2015 (UTC)
I wasn't aware of such a policy. Fair enough - can you point me towards it? Though, that would typically be for a year span, and not what a season(-ish) of episodes is worldwide known as. Alex|The|Whovian 02:23, 22 November 2015 (UTC)
I believe that the first section in WP:DATERANGE adequately details the manual of style for year ranges. This manual of style can also be seen in many articles that include years in their titles (granted, my examples are mainly for history-based articles, but their move logs also state that the moves were made "according to policy"): Republic of China (1912–49), Syrian Republic (1930–58)) to name a couple.
