Hi there![edit]

Just to let you know what has happened - you created the article Nigel dick (with a lower case "d"), when we already had an article at Nigel Dick. I have now created a redirect to take you to the proper article when you click on the first link. I incorporated the information you put on Nigel dick into the larger page as well; feel free to continue editing it there.

If you are, in fact, Mr. Dick as your name suggests, welcome, and thank you for contributing! You should take a moment to review our Wikipedia:Autobiography policy, however, as we ask that people be cautious in editing articles about themselves -- I think you'll understand once you've read the policy. You are welcome to correct errors and discuss the article on Talk:Nigel Dick. Thanks again for your contributions! — Catherine\talk 02:51, 1 September 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Hi, also![edit]

Hello, Nigel from Farfield, and welcome.

I've been working on the Gresham's School page. You added yourself to the list of OG's there, which prompted me to write an article on you this evening which I linked to your name in the list. I also moved your name into its right place in alphabetical order in the Arts list.

With the speed of greased lightning, CatherineMunro spotted that two articles on you had been created (yours in fact went live first) and took some small pieces of yours to add into mine before then redirecting your article to mine. Do, though, feel free to correct mine, where appropriate.

With kind regards.

You may want to consider using the Article Wizard to help you create articles.

If this is the first article that you have created, you may want to read the guide to writing your first article.

A tag has been placed on Ervan "Bud" Coleman requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done because the article, which appears to be about a real person, individual animal(s), an organization (band, club, company, etc.), or web content, does not indicate how or why the subject of the article is important or significant: that is, why an article about it should be included in an encyclopedia. Under the criteria for speedy deletion, articles that do not indicate the subject's importance or significance may be deleted at any time. Please see the guidelines for what is generally accepted as notable.

If you can assert the importance of the subject, . Clicking that button will take you to the talk page where you will find a pre-formatted place for you to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. You can also visit the article's talk page directly to give your reasons, but be aware that once tagged for speedy deletion, if the article meets the criterion, it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself. You may freely add information to the article that would confirm the subject's notability under Wikipedia guidelines.

See the guidelines for specific types of articles: biographies, websites, bands, or companies. CanadianLinuxUser (talk) 17:42, 28 October 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Your account has been blocked indefinitely because the chosen username is a clear violation of our username policy  – it is obviously profane; threatens, attacks or impersonates another person; or suggests that you do not intend to contribute positively to the encyclopedia (see our blocking and username policies for more information).

We invite everyone to contribute constructively to our encyclopedia, so if you think we are wrong then please tell us. But users are not allowed to edit with inappropriate usernames, and we do not tolerate 'bad faith' editing such as trolling or other disruptive behavior. If you think there are good reasons why these don't describe your account, or why you should be unblocked, you are welcome to appeal this block - read our guide to appealing blocks to understand more about unblock requests, and then add the text {{unblock-un|new username|reason=Your reason here ~~~~}} at the end of your user talk page.

Request reason:

I apologize to Mr. Daniel Case. I am deeply sorry that he finds my last name offensive. However he should know Dick is a proud scottish name, it was my father's name, it is in my passport, on my social security card, on the title deeds to my house etc. etc. It has been my cross to bear for 60 years. I am willing to change my Wikipedia name, if only to make Mr. Case's life, happier. Please inform me what I need to do to make Mr. Case's day a better one. Yours, Nigel Dick

Decline reason:

Mostly a procedural decline, because you can only have one unblock request at a time on your user page. Also, this unblock does not request a new name while the second one below does. -- Atama 19:45, 12 May 2014 (UTC)[reply]

If you want to make any further unblock requests, please read the guide to appealing blocks first, then use the {{unblock}} template again. If you make too many unconvincing or disruptive unblock requests, you may be prevented from editing this page until your block has expired. Do not remove this unblock review while you are blocked.

I'm pretty certain your parents didn't give you a grammatical article for a middle name. —Jeremy v^_^v Bori! 18:51, 12 May 2014 (UTC)[reply]
The "the" has been inserted by many, many others into my name for the last 55 years and more - I don't take credit for inventing it. However, as stated, I'm happy to change my username here if someone could just let me know how to go about that. Nigelthedick (talk) 19:00, 12 May 2014 (UTC)[reply]
In that case, use {{unblock-un|<new username>}} instead of the unblock template above. When and if the request is accepted, follow the instructions at WP:Changing username/Simple in order to change your username. —Jeremy v^_^v Bori! 19:08, 12 May 2014 (UTC)[reply]
This user's request to be unblocked to request a change in username has been reviewed by an administrator, who accepted the request.

Requested username:

Request reason:

As stated above I apologize to Mr. Case. I'm sorry he finds my given name offensive. I hope that he, and all other users of Wikipedia, will approve my new choice of username. Thank-you for your consideration, and thank-you to Jeremy for your help.

Accept reason:

Allowing username change to requested username. Please put this request in at Wikipedia:Changing username as soon as possible to avoid re-blocking. -- Atama 21:28, 12 May 2014 (UTC)[reply]
Nigel, one thing I'd like to also suggest is that you read our plain and simple conflict of interest guide. It seems like you're editing articles about yourself, or subjects related to yourself. This is not forbidden (though it is discouraged), but I still think you should read our guide so that you can help avoid difficulties in the future. -- Atama 21:28, 12 May 2014 (UTC)[reply]

I was not the one personally offended; however, my own feelings about this aren't what matter. Still, I accept the apology. Daniel Case (talk) 01:55, 13 May 2014 (UTC)[reply]
