Possible conflict of interest (COI)[edit]

Hi! I like to note that if you are related to National Library Board (NLB) as an employee, etc, adding information related to NLB to Wikipedia articles would construe a conflict of interest. If there is a COI, Wikipedia will you to submit edit changes via WP:EDITREQUEST. If you are adding basic factual or technical information, you can add them yourself. Based on your recent edits, while they are technical edits in theory, they linked back to NLB related sites and information which might be viewed as COI by other editors. It will be easier to sort things out if you can kindly declare whether are you associated with NLB or not. --Justanothersgwikieditor (talk) 03:49, 13 April 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Hi, may I know which articles are you referring to? I am a librarian from National Library Board (NLB) trying to explore using Wikipedia to increase the discoverability and visibility of NLB resources. I was testing to add Library resources box to Wikipedia articles such as Lim Bo Seng to direct users to make use of the online catalogue OneSearch. Does that construe conflict of interest? Nlbkos (talk) 05:07, 13 April 2022 (UTC)[reply]
Hi, I am referring to Lim Bo Seng and Tan Tock Seng. As you are just adding the Library resources box template, it should be fine. While the edits are fine, your intention to possibly direct readers to NLB resources such as infopedia and OneSearch, it may be considered as WP:PROMOTION (see point 5 of the section). I understand that the template still requires the reader to choose a library from the catalog of library but given the Singaporean topics, there is a high possibility that the NLB will be selected as per your intentions.
As of now, I would consider this as a grey zone and my opinion is that there is no COI and is not yet considered promotion but other editors may find it otherwise. I am afraid I am able to advise / assist you more than this with regards to the whole situation or I could just be mistaken about the situation. Perhaps you can take a look at the Wikipedia:The Wikipedia Library, there might be something there which could assist you. Thanks! -- Justanothersgwikieditor (talk) 06:30, 13 April 2022 (UTC)[reply]
