Added user to opt out for autopatrol

The bot is running great. Thanks again and congrats on getting your BRFA approved. I've just added a user to the opt out page. I wasn't sure if I should put him on a new line, seperate by comma or add a <br />. Also, the user has a space in his name, so I'm not sure if that will mess things up or not. Anyway, I just wanted to leave you a comment about it. Thanks. - Hydroxonium (TCV) 23:44, 21 May 2011 (UTC)

I've added another user here. Please let me know if it breaks anything. Thanks. - Hydroxonium (TCV) 21:44, 5 June 2011 (UTC)

NoomBot and Books

Hey there, quick questions.

If I create a public book, how long after I create it will NoomBot create that wonderful ranking thing?

If I create a private book, is there any way to get NoomBot to create that wonderful ranking thing for it?

Thanks, Sven Manguard Wha? 04:28, 4 May 2011 (UTC)

The bot currently just checks books in the Book: namespace. (It takes a while to crunch through a book, so it couldn't create these reports for all user books). As for how long, I think it's whenever Noommos tells it to run, although it was supposed to be running automatically. Headbomb {talk / contribs / physics / books} 04:54, 4 May 2011 (UTC)
Thanks. I created two more books on a whim, and didn't see Noombot pick em up. As for the personal book, I was thinking it'd be a once in a month situation where I'd specificly request noombot to run me a private book. Said book would be filled with pages that had large collections of images. The entire purpose is that NoomBot's non-free image detection and list generation service is unmatched, and I'm going to need it to tackle art pages that have dozens of images on them. The alternative, of course, would be to create books on art, however since the books software removes non-free images before printing, those books would be essentially wrecked. The automatic running failed, and I didn't realise why until a while ago. I haven't bothered to change the automatic running yet, because I got used to manually starting it. I could run some user books if you'd like, but the scope of the bot is only supposed to work in the book name space. Noom talk stalk 09:00, 4 May 2011 (UTC)
Sven, if you'd like, I could create a non-free media tool with the shiny new toolserver account I've requested. Noom talk stalk 13:38, 4 May 2011 (UTC)
This is what I had in mind: I go to a page and there's a text box in it. I copy the article name (or the URL of the article page) into said box and click a button. The tool then presents me with a bullet pointed clickable list of all non-free files (like what's generated by the book tool). If you could create a tool that did that, I'd be ecstatic.
If you could create the tool to generate two clickable lists, one of free images and a separate one of non-free images, that would be even more useful to my purposes, but if that's too much work, don't worry about it. Sven Manguard Wha? 03:58, 7 May 2011 (UTC)
My TS account hasn't been approved yet, but you can find the tool hosted on my server here. Had some good fun developing it, haven't used jQuery in a while. Let me know if you find a problem, I do know that the delimiting thing with multiple pages can be a bit dodgy some times, but it should warn you of any errors it finds. Thanks. I'm trying to get it to run on Western painting and thus far it's just been "loading" with the black bar in the upper right. It's been at it for five minutes, but there are a ton of images there. I'll let you know the results soon. Sven Manguard Wha? 07:04, 10 May 2011 (UTC)
Well Western painting took forever, so while it was running I tried Venus as a Boy (clicked random article a few times). The tool only gave me one free and one non-free image, and when I clicked the "Open" button for either, it took me to http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Null. And I was so excited I'd get to take the tool out for a long test drive. Ah well. Take your time on the repairs, I'm in no real rush. Thanks again for this. Once it's perfected, there are going to be quite a few happy file gnomes. Sven Manguard Wha? 07:14, 10 May 2011 (UTC)
Did you select one of the select options? Open seemed to work fine last night. Also, it may timeout on long requests, didn't test it properly yet, was too tired. Noom talk stalk 07:51, 10 May 2011 (UTC)
Just tested it with Venus as a Boy and seems to work fine? I get 2 non-free and 4 free images in the request. Open button seems to work fine. Trying out Western painting now. If it takes you to 'Null', it means it doesn't think you pressed any of the files. What browser/version are you using? IE probably has a few problems with it. Noom talk stalk 15:59, 10 May 2011 (UTC)
It looks like this to me. I am on Firefox 3.6.17. I did get the two images to appear for me, however, again, it only gave me those two. Sven Manguard Wha? 22:30, 10 May 2011 (UTC)
Ah, firefox doesn't resize the select box like chrome does. There are actually more files there, they're just cut off bu the boxes size. I'll fix it now. Also, I fixed an issue from occurring with long requests. Noom talk stalk 06:51, 11 May 2011 (UTC)
Also, pages will tend to freeze when adding the file lists to the boxes on large requests like Western painting. It will become responsive after a few minutes in chrome, but it seems to completely die in firefox, I'm still waiting for it to finish. Noom talk stalk 06:58, 11 May 2011 (UTC)
Anymore feedback, Sven? Or is it working fine now? Noom talk stalk 19:48, 12 May 2011 (UTC)
The new setup is displaying fine for me. Shame that it won't work on Western painting, as that was exactly the article I wanted to use it on. Drop me a message when your toolserver thing goes through and you move the tool to its new home, so that I can update the link. Thanks, Sven Manguard Wha? 22:23, 12 May 2011 (UTC)
I can do a 'no-fancy' option for large requests like Western painting that takes you to another page. It won't be like the current one, more ugly. Does firefox freeze when trying to do Western painting or does it just never finish? I found that the large amount of files can cause browsers to freeze up a bit, but firefox crashed for me. Noom talk stalk 23:30, 12 May 2011 (UTC)
Yes it freezes. Yes I'd love a non-fancy version if it'll get that Western painting page. That page, and a few equally image heavy ones, are actually the reason I requested the tool. Thanks, Sven Manguard Wha? 07:12, 15 May 2011 (UTC)
Sorry it's taken so long, I've been pretty busy. I've uploaded a new version of the tool to use. There's a new button labelled 'non-fancy version' which will open a new tab (or possibly a pop-up) to a plainer page. I've had to modify it's output from JSON to HTML, so if you see any weird messages, drop me a message and I'll sort it out. The page will seem like it hangs for a while, this is just the amount of time it takes to process the page and it's images. Noom talk stalk 21:59, 9 June 2011 (UTC)

The shakespearettes request speedy deletions

hi you requested a speedy deletion for the shakespearettes article but we were wondering why as they are a genuine band?

thanks — Preceding unsigned comment added by Sezzalovescats (talkcontribs) 16:51, 13 June 2011 (UTC)

(edit conflict) Hi there, please make sure you've read this. If you think they are notable enough for an article after that, say why and try and find a source which matches one of the criteria in the link. Thanks, Noom talk stalk 16:53, 13 June 2011 (UTC)

calm down

there's a difference between "attacking" and giving an opinion. chill out. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Darthpineapple401 (talkcontribs) 21:07, 13 June 2011 (UTC)

It was still uncivil and I took offence. Therefore, I reverted your edit to my talk page and used an edit summary that seemed the most appropriate for your edit. Noom talk stalk 21:12, 13 June 2011 (UTC)

NoomBot and Lepidoptera

Is there any chance that NoomBot could be fired up to finish off cleaning up the articles in Category:Lepidoptera cleanup and subcategories (and even Category:Taxoboxes using "class" instead of "classis")? It seemed to shudder to a halt with a few thousand articles still in need of attention. --Stemonitis (talk) 19:38, 19 June 2011 (UTC)

OK, not the "class" / "classis" category. I've dealt with that one now. --Stemonitis (talk) 13:57, 24 June 2011 (UTC)
Running shortly, sorry for wait. Noom talk stalk 18:52, 25 June 2011 (UTC)
It's reporting about 5000 pages in the queue, but just so you know, it may not do them all. Some pages have slightly unusual formatting which will stop it from detecting the taxobox template properly. In these cases, it will skip the page. It should do most though. Noom talk stalk 19:10, 25 June 2011 (UTC)
Many thanks. I have dealt with the oddities – there were only a dozen or so – and deleted the categories. Thanks again: that would have been a horrible job to do manually. --Stemonitis (talk) 14:23, 26 June 2011 (UTC)
