Is it ok?[edit]

How does this look? Is the translation ok? I just like to have someone double check. Maybe it can be used in Spanish Wikipedia.--ZiaLater (talk) 23:14, 11 May 2017 (UTC)[reply]

@ZiaLater: Hi! It's a really good translation in my opinion. I'd just rephrase at the start "sobre Venezuela, la cual fue mencionada en las declaraciones del Director Coats" instead of "sobre Venezuela que fue mencionado en las declaraciones del Director Coats" to make it clearer and add "El riesgo de que estos "colectivos" actúen de una manera" or "El riesgo de que estos "colectivos" actúen de una forma". I'm not sure if it should be specified at the beginning "[hablando] sobre Venezuela, la cual fue mencionada" ([speaking] on Venezuela, which was mentioned). --Jamez42 (talk) 19:12, 12 May 2017 (UTC)[reply]
Thanks for the help! Take a look and see if this looks better.--ZiaLater (talk) 04:15, 13 May 2017 (UTC)[reply]
@ZiaLater: My pleasure :) I included a couple of small changes, I think it should be alright now. I'll ask The Photographer if he agrees. --Jamez42 (talk) 16:17, 13 May 2017 (UTC)[reply]
Well done Jamez42 and ZiaLater, I think that It's ok now. --The_Photographer (talk) 16:31, 13 May 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Is this a good file?[edit]

Would this be a good file to upload?--ZiaLater (talk) 02:40, 1 July 2017 (UTC)[reply]

@ZiaLater: Sorry for not answering before, I was among the 19 students from the Simón Bolívar University that were arrested this Thursday for protesting and since we got out this Sunday I've been keeping up with friends and relatives. I've really liked the vlogs that I've watched of Luisito Comunica, I feel that it gives the sensation of a journalist report while using a familiar language, although I fear that it may be too informal for Wikipedia. I personally loved Associated Press' Venezuela Undone, Hannah Dreier also reports from the perspective of someone living in Caracas and has excellent videos. If there are other videos needed for the shortages in Venezuela I'd be glad to give a hand.
PD: I'd also love to help with the subtitles if needed --Jamez42 (talk) 21:00, 4 July 2017 (UTC)[reply]

All of ANC is PSUV?[edit]

I think all of them are PSUV. See here. Is this right?--ZiaLater (talk) 02:36, 5 August 2017 (UTC)[reply]

@ZiaLater: There are several members of the ANC that don't have prior political experience or aren't in a political party, particularly those from popular sectors like fishermen, peasants and workers. A parliamentarian announced few days ago that colectivos were denouncing fraud in the election and asking for the votes of their candidates.[1] I looked up if it was a requisite to be in a political party, but it seems not to be the case.[2] I think there are members that are from parties of the Great Patriotic Pole but not the PSUV, like the Communist Party or Patria Para Todos (Fatherland for All); regardless, even if there are independent candidates, since the opposition boycotted the election all of the current ANC is pro-government.--Jamez42 (talk) 14:50, 5 August 2017 (UTC)[reply]
@Jamez42: Would it be more accurate to describe them as GPP instead of PSUV then?--ZiaLater (talk) 14:55, 5 August 2017 (UTC)[reply]
@ZiaLater: I'd suggest to describe them as pro government since many of them aren't in the GPP. I can look up for some examples as well as notable members that aren't from the PSUV.--Jamez42 (talk) 15:01, 5 August 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Contest[edit]

Hi, can you add your articles to the main list too?♦ Dr. Blofeld 19:20, 3 November 2017 (UTC)[reply]

@Dr. Blofeld: Sure thing! Is it one other than the article achievements list? My current article is number 80 there. --Jamez42 (talk) 19:34, 3 November 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Oh that's the list, that is fine, didn't see it earlier! If WP Venezuela are interested they could use my contest template to be created next month for Latin America and do a similar contest for just the region. A Latin Destubathon like the African one I did for all topics also much needed. Let's focus on this for now though!♦ Dr. Blofeld 19:41, 3 November 2017 (UTC)[reply]

@Dr. Blofeld: Thanks! I talked about the contest in Wikimedia Venezuela, but since there isn't a version in Spanish I'll be the only editor participating for the time being, although I'll encourage them to join. I don't know if the WP will organize a regional contest, but I'd love one. Cheers! --Jamez42 (talk) 20:01, 3 November 2017 (UTC)[reply]

@Vami IV: Thanks! Almost three weeks to go! Let me know if I can help with articles about Latin America or translations from Spanish :) --Jamez42 (talk) 02:09, 7 November 2017 (UTC)[reply]
You just keep doing what you're doing - I'm glad there's another editor pumping out quality articles on Latina women. –Vami_IV✠ 02:10, 7 November 2017 (UTC)[reply]

A page you started (Blanca Eekhout) has been reviewed![edit]

Thanks for creating Blanca Eekhout, Jamez42!

Wikipedia editor Hydronium Hydroxide just reviewed your page, and wrote this note for you:

Please review my edits to ensure that they are correct (in particular "Bachelor of Arts in Cinema" -- "mencion" might be better translated as "majoring in" rather than "in"?). Although "la mujer" is literally "the woman", the plural is standard for English. "collaborator" has a negative tone.

Found a death date for her, and added it into the article, with a ref. But it's a PDF, and I'm not sure if it will hash up your references for the contest - just wanted to alert you to keep an eye on it if it becomes an issue.

Keep up the good work, and happy editing! --Ser Amantio di NicolaoChe dicono a Signa?Lo dicono a Signa. 18:38, 14 November 2017 (UTC)[reply]

@Ser Amantio di Nicolao: Hi! I doubt there is any problem, in any case I'll take it into account, thank you very much! Let me know if you need any help, particularly in translations from Spanish, I'd be glad to give a hand. Cheers and best wishes! --Jamez42 (talk) 00:21, 15 November 2017 (UTC)[reply]
Thanks very much for the offer - I'll let you know. Been keeping an eye on the article, and it looks like everything's OK there. --Ser Amantio di NicolaoChe dicono a Signa?Lo dicono a Signa. 05:58, 15 November 2017 (UTC)[reply]

New Page Reviewing[edit]

Hello, Jamez42.

I noticed you've done some constructive editing recently.
Would you please consider becoming a New Page Reviewer? Reviewing/patrolling a page doesn't take much time but it requires a good understanding of Wikipedia policies and guidelines; currently Wikipedia needs experienced users at this task. (After gaining the flag, patrolling is not mandatory. One can do it at their convenience). But kindly read the tutorial before making your decision. Thanks. New page reviewer granted[edit]

Hello Jamez42. Your account has been added to the "New page reviewers" user group, allowing you to review new pages and mark them as patrolled, tag them for maintenance issues, or in some cases, tag them for deletion. The list of articles awaiting review is located at the New Pages Feed. New page reviewing is a vital function for policing the quality of the encylopedia, if you have not already done so, you must read the new tutorial at New Pages Review, the linked guides and essays, and fully understand the various deletion criteria. If you need more help or wish to discuss the process, please join or start a thread at page reviewer talk.

  • URGENT: Please consider helping get the huge backlog down to a manageable number of pages as soon as possible.
  • Be nice to new users - they are often not aware of doing anything wrong.
  • You will frequently be asked by users to explain why their page is being deleted - be formal and polite in your approach to them too, even if they are not.
  • Don't review a page if you are not sure what to do. Just leave it for another reviewer.
  • Remember that quality is quintessential to good patrolling. Take your time to patrol each article, there is no rush. Use the message feature and offer basic advice.

The reviewer right does not change your status or how you can edit articles. If you no longer want this user right, you may ask any administrator to remove it for you at any time. In case of abuse or persistent inaccuracy of reviewing, the right can be revoked at any time by an administrator. Anarchyte (work | talk) 05:33, 27 November 2017 (UTC)[reply]

@Jamez42. Per your comments on the request page, I would strongly suggest using the The NPP Browser to find the articles you are interested in. For example, there are currently 29 unreviewed articles with the keyword "Venezuela" and 17 with "Latin America". — Insertcleverphrasehere (or here) 07:28, 27 November 2017 (UTC)[reply]

ArbCom 2017 election voter message[edit]

Hello, Jamez42. Voting in the 2017 Arbitration Committee elections is now open until 23.59 on Sunday, 10 December. All users who registered an account before Saturday, 28 October 2017, made at least 150 mainspace edits before Wednesday, 1 November 2017 and are not currently blocked are eligible to vote. Users with alternate accounts may only vote once.

The arbitration policy describes the Committee's roles and responsibilities in greater detail.

If you wish to participate in the 2017 election, please review the candidates and submit your choices on the voting page. MediaWiki message delivery (talk) 18:42, 3 December 2017 (UTC)[reply]

New Page Reviewer Newsletter[edit]

Hello NoonIcarus, thank you for your efforts reviewing new pages!

Backlog update:

  • The new page backlog is currently at 12713 pages. Please consider reviewing even just a few pages each day! If everyone helps out, it will really put a dent in the backlog.
  • Currently the backlog stretches back to March and some pages in the backlog have passed the 90 day Google index point. Please consider reviewing some of them!

Outreach and Invitations:

  • If you know other editors with a good understanding of Wikipedia policy, invite them to join NPP by dropping the invitation template on their talk page with: {{subst:NPR invite}}. Adding more qualified reviewers will help with keeping the backlog manageable.

New Year New Page Review Drive

  • A backlog drive is planned for the start of the year, beginning on January 1st and running until the end of the month. Unique prizes will be given in tiers for both the total number of reviews made, as well as the longest 'streak' maintained.
  • Note: quality reviewing is extremely important, please do not sacrifice quality for quantity.

General project update:

  • ACTRIAL has resulted in a significant increase in the quality of new submissions, with noticeably fewer CSD, PROD, and BLPPROD candidates in the new page feed. However, the majority of the backlog still dates back to before ACTRIAL started, so consider reviewing articles from the middle or back of the backlog.
  • The NPP Browser can help you quickly find articles with topics that you prefer to review from within the backlog.
  • To keep up with the latest conversation on New Pages Patrol or to ask questions, you can go to Wikipedia talk:New pages patrol/Reviewers and add it to your watchlist.

@AndyEdits: I feel it's good to go, if it's possible to include additional information such as annual income or other achievements such as the invention of the first portable circle saw it'd be excellent. --Jamez42 (talk) 23:20, 13 December 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Cua hostage crisis[edit]

Hi. If you write the articles on the Spanish wiki and translate them over to the English wiki I can proof read them for you once you've transferred them. That particular case interested me because it was filmed and featured in a shockumentary I watched, and it's pretty incredible footage caught on camera of a real headshot, and a happy ending as no hostages were killed. New Years new page backlog drive[edit]

Hello NoonIcarus, thank you for your efforts reviewing new pages!

Announcing the NPP New Year Backlog Drive!

We have done amazing work so far in December to reduce the New Pages Feed backlog by over 3000 articles! Now is the time to capitalise on our momentum and help eliminate the backlog!

The backlog drive will begin on January 1st and run until January 29th. Prize tiers and other info can be found HERE.

Awards will be given in tiers in two categories:

  • The total number of reviews completed for the month.
  • The minimum weekly total maintained for all four weeks of the backlog drive.

NOTE: It is extremely important that we focus on quality reviewing. Despite our goal of reducing the backlog as much as possible, please do not rush while reviewing.
