College Hockey Templates

I noticed that you do all of your hockey tables free hand. I know the season is winding down but would something like this be helpful in the future? I not a template expert, and I'm sure they could be better but they do work (at least I think they do) and they are defiantly easier to read. Please let me know what you think and if you think they'd be useful in the main template space. Daniel J Simanek (talk) 07:31, 11 March 2009 (UTC)

OK, I left a note at WT:HOCKEY. Thanks for the feedback! Daniel J Simanek (talk) 17:59, 11 March 2009 (UTC)

Tavares

Absolutely! I've already done a little bit of work on it, namely an expansion of the lead, however there is still a fair bit to go. Do you have any accessable sources for his personal history? I've been trying to find time to look into that, as that is the greatest need, imo. Not sure that we can convince Raul to put it on the front page for the draft, but that would be a nice coup. Resolute 15:59, 11 March 2009 (UTC)

Sounds good. I'll take some time to discover more of his playing career and improve that section. Resolute 17:36, 11 March 2009 (UTC)
Would you be able to find some local sources for Tavares' stats in the last years of his minor hockey career? The stats I have pulled from a Sports Illustrated piece and hockeydb.com already argue that the numbers stated for Tavares in 04-05 were not correct in this article. I would like to confirm his 03-04 minor hockey stats, otherwise I will have to remove them, as 95 goals in 90 games is a rather exceptional claim. Moreover, how on earth do 13 year olds play 90 game seasons... Resolute 03:36, 15 March 2009 (UTC)
Ok, I've put the stats back to those you found. I've finished his junior career. I'm finding a few stories that basically serve as scouting reports, and I think that could be used as the basis for a playing style section, especially if we were to pull the comparisons to Bossy, Gretzky, etc. out of the junior play section and into this new section. What do you think? I've also standardized all of the references into one format... between your style, my style and that of other editors who have happened along, it was quite the mess! I also fixed most of the OHL and CHL cites, as the three leagues reformatted their websites not to long ago, breaking every single link. What do you think? Are we close to a GA nomination? Resolute 16:59, 22 March 2009 (UTC)
I am not sold on minor hockey stats myself, mainly because there is no context to them. There is so much difference between different minor hockey associations that it is just a number. I'd probably remove them myself. As far as a GA nom goes, if we catch someone with an interest in hockey, they might bump it to the front of the line. I've done GA reviews in the past, and can probably pile through a few to help speed the entire process up for everyone. Resolute 00:57, 23 March 2009 (UTC)
I've made the additions I suggested above, though the playing style section could use a bit more fleshing out before FAC. Do you have any good local resources available? I've also listed the article at WP:GAN, as I think it is ready at least for a good article review. Resolute 22:54, 28 March 2009 (UTC)
Good changes. And no, I haven't contacted anyone at Flickr. I like the two images we have, though one of him in a team Canada jersey would be awesome. Resolute 16:35, 29 March 2009 (UTC)

a

What do you mean people have been upset at my changes? Can they not tell me that? they have to get u to do it? And not even for French players like Guillaume Latendresse or Kristopher Letang? Okay i understand where u coming from, but also arent diacritics always used on player pages? Im getting different information from everywhere.

Bort08 01:07, 17 March 2009 (UTC)

Sweet, thanks for clarifying. I'll do exactly as you say now. I understand perfectly.

Bort08 01:19, 17 March 2009 (UTC)

Also, when doing pages, at the beginning of the opening paragraph where it says when he was born, should the place he was born be put in too, like (born february 12, 1985 in Los Angeles, California)? Also, should pronounciation be put in as well, not the phonics, but actually English script, like Wojtek Wolsi (pronounced Voy-tek Vol-skee)?

Bort08 04:16, 24 March 2009 (UTC)

I have removed the {{prod}} tag from 2008–09 Wisconsin Badgers women's ice hockey season‎, which you proposed for deletion. I'm leaving this message here to notify you about it. If you still think the article should be deleted, please don't add the {{prod}} template back to the article. Instead, feel free to list it at Wikipedia:Articles for deletion. Thanks! New FL criteria discussion: Final phase

Hello, I think we've hammered out a good revised Featured List criteria here. If this passes, there will be quite a few FLs that could soon be delisted just because of 3b. With that in mind, I'd like to get comments and opinions from all FLC regulars and everyone else who has participated in the discussion before it's implemented. Thanks, Scorpion0422 17:42, 31 March 2009 (UTC)

Tavares GA

It passed a GA review today. I am going to check with one of the FA directors to see if an article that we know is going to have a great deal of change is featurable at this point, and probably put it up for peer review to see if we can get more feedback. Resolute 22:49, 20 April 2009 (UTC)

lol, yeah. I might be too critical, but I've never passed a GA nom on the first pass, heh. We'll see what SandyGeorgia has to say before we move ahead. I know I am not happy with the playing style section... it just seems too short right now. Resolute 23:08, 20 April 2009 (UTC)

Mike Brown (goaltender)

I am out of town with limited internet, however, I believe Mike Brown should be brought up for deletion review as he is clearly notable based on our guidelines. The easiest way to put together that argument is to view the hockey deletion discussion history and find the examples of players who played at least 1 game in the ECHL or other minor fully professional leagues that survived due to that fact. Had I of seen the AFD before deletion, I would have argued against deletion myself. -Pparazorback (talk) 04:44, 24 April 2009 (UTC)

I will be posting it tonight. It is a shame I hadn't known about it sooner or I probably would have voted against deletion myself. If you can find any more google sources that will help the case please do so. -Djsasso (talk) 22:23, 24 April 2009 (UTC)

FLC 3b review

Hello, I noticed that a recent FLC that you nominated failed because of the criterion 3b. I have started a review of the criterion here, and any comments or opinions that you have about it would be more than welcome. Thanks, Scorpion0422 23:24, 6 June 2009 (UTC)

Overtime

Hi Nurmsook, thanks for the offer of help on women's hockey articles--I definitely need it! Right now, I'm trying to tabulate W-L-T records by opponent. I'm not sure how to categorize games that go into overtime; are they considered ties? Or wins or losses? Thanks. --Lkjhgfdsa (talk) 15:38, 10 June 2009 (UTC)

Request for Help: Eric Brewer in Finnish Wikipedia

I translated your article of Eric Brewer in Finnish. I’m trying to get GA status for that article in fi-wiki. However, the Finnish users demand me to check all the cite news of the article. From Finland I have no possibility to check those printed magazines (e.g. Edmonton Journal). Could you, please, make sure that the references are all right in your own talk page. After that I could copy your answer to the Finnish talk page of the Eric Brewer. Thank you. Javatyk (talk) 18:14, 18 June 2009 (UTC)

  • I have gone through all of the references, and can confirm that they are indeed correct. I used the ProQuest database to find these articles if anyone would like to do additional confirmation. Sorry about the delayed reply. Cheers! – Nurmsook! talk... 07:16, 26 June 2009 (UTC)

I was wondering if you could keep the lead of this article up to the current standards like the most recent promoted team players lists like List of Detroit Red Wings players and List of Chicago Blackhawks players. That would be greatly appreciated! Also, there should be information about the captains like the article, and valuable information can be found in List of Vancouver Canucks captains, which is going to be merged with the main article after its FL demotion. -- [[SRE.K.A.L.|L.A.K.ERS]] 07:01, 16 August 2009 (UTC)

This is an automated message from CorenSearchBot. I have performed a web search with the contents of 2009–10 NCAA Division I men's ice hockey season, and it appears to be very similar to another Wikipedia page: 2009–10 NCAA Division I women's ice hockey season. It is possible that you have accidentally duplicated contents, or made an error while creating the page— you might want to look at the pages and see if that is the case. If you are intentionally moving or duplicating content, please be sure you have followed the procedure at Wikipedia:Splitting by acknowledging the duplication of material in edit summary to preserve attribution history.

This message was placed automatically, and it is possible that the bot is confused and found similarity where none actually exists. If that is the case, you can remove the tag from the article and it would be appreciated if you could drop a note on the maintainer's talk page. CorenSearchBot (talk) 19:10, 5 October 2009 (UTC)

Thanks mate, I was mindlessly adding 09-10 stats. I hope I didn't do that to too many players :) Captain Courageous (talk) 02:56, 13 January 2010 (UTC)

Unreferenced BLPs

Hello Nurmsook! Thank you for your contributions. I am a bot alerting you that 2 of the articles that you created are tagged as Unreferenced Biographies of Living Persons. The biographies of living persons policy requires that all personal or potentially controversial information be sourced. In addition, to ensure verifiability, all biographies should be based on reliable sources. If you were to bring these articles up to standards, it would greatly help us with the current 944 article backlog. Once the articles are adequately referenced, please remove the {{unreferencedBLP}} tag. Here is the list:

You are now a Reviewer

Hello. Your account has been granted the "reviewer" userright, allowing you to review other users' edits on certain flagged pages. Pending changes, also known as flagged protection, will be commencing a two-month trial at approximately 23:00, 2010 June 15 (UTC).

Reviewers can review edits made by users who are not autoconfirmed to articles placed under flagged protection. Flagged protection is applied to only a small number of articles, similarly to how semi-protection is applied but in a more controlled way for the trial.

When reviewing, edits should be accepted if they are not obvious vandalism or BLP violations, and not clearly problematic in light of the reason given for protection (see Wikipedia:Reviewing process). More detailed documentation and guidelines can be found here.

If you do not want this userright, you may ask any administrator to remove it for you at any time. Courcelles (talk) 23:51, 15 June 2010 (UTC)
