Image copyright problem with Image:Sunada.jpg[edit]

Image Copyright problem

Thank you for uploading Image:Sunada.jpg. However, it currently is missing information on its copyright status. Wikipedia takes copyright very seriously. It may be deleted soon, unless we can determine the license and the source of the image. If you know this information, then you can add a copyright tag to the image description page.

Randii Wessen[edit]

Wikipedia has some common-sense restrictions of biography articles and a related notability guideline. What this article needs is some sources that deal directly with the subject. I went ahead and contest the PROD, which stopped deletion for now. Mr. Wessen seems like an accomplished guy and all, but we really need some proper sources for the article. Where did you get your information? I don't want to see this article deleted, but I really need your help. Please reply here or my talk page ASAP. You are most certainly welcome. The article isn't in imminent danger of being deleted currently, but someone could send it to WP:AfD at any time. In order to survive a discussion there we'll need one of two things. The first option is multiple reliable sources that talk about Wessen in detail. This could include newspaper articles ([1]], books/magazines ([2][3]), or electronic sources ([4][5]). To be valid for determining notability the source must be independent of the subject. This means, for example, NASA sources are out. Now primary sources (like his NASA bio) can be used to source the article, they just can't be used to establish notability. A first glance I only see a couple sources that look promising - but then again it only takes two.

The other option is to prove he meets one of the 9 points at Wikipedia:Notability (academics). Meeting any of these criteria would make him notable enough for an article. Now, I have a better idea of what the criteria mean and practice and you have a better idea of what Mr. Wessen's accomplishments are, so why don't you take a look at the list and see which you think are the best candidates.

So what I would like you to do is look over the sources & notability guidelines and decide what you think the strongest policy based case for Mr. Wessen is. Once you decide how to best establish notability, I will help you determine which sources are bets for the article and help you get things all "proper" so that the risk of someone trying to delete the article in the future is reduced.

(The article is on my watch list so if anyone decides to nominate it for deletion I will be able to at least try and defend it, but it would be better to strengthen the article's case in advance rather than leave it up to unpredictable AfD). --ThaddeusB (talk) 05:06, 28 July 2009 (UTC)[reply]
