A tag has been placed on Lancaster Public Library, requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under the criteria for speedy deletion, because it is a very short article providing no content to the reader. Please note that external links, "See also" section, book reference, category tag, template tag, interwiki link, rephrasing of the title, or an attempt to contact the subject of the article don't count as content. Please see Wikipedia:Stub for our minimum information standards for short articles. Also please note that articles must be on notable subjects and should provide references to reliable sources that verify their content.

Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself. If you plan to expand the article, you can request that administrators wait a while for you to add contextual material. To do this, affix the template {{hangon}} to the page and state your intention on the article's talk page. Feel free to leave a note on my talk page if you have any questions about this.  Blanchardb -MeMyEarsMyMouth- timed 01:23, 26 May 2009 (UTC)[reply]

I have nominated Lancaster Public Library, an article that you created, for deletion. I do not think that this article satisfies Wikipedia's criteria for inclusion, and have explained why at Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Lancaster Public Library. Your opinions on the matter are welcome at that same discussion page; also, you are welcome to edit the article to address these concerns. Thank you for your time.

Please contact me if you're unsure why you received this message. - Dank (push to talk) 02:02, 26 May 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Article userfied[edit]

The article you created, Lancaster Public Library, clearly wasn't ready to go live, so I moved it to your user space, at User:Obsessive Volunteer/Lancaster Public Library.

A note: the article should concentrate on what makes this library notable. Information such as contact info, opening hours, etc., is frowned on in Wikipedia. Don't make the article read as if it were merely the website of an ordinary city library. -- Blanchardb -MeMyEarsMyMouth- timed 02:49, 26 May 2009 (UTC)[reply]

First things first. You need to show what makes this particular library worthy of encyclopedic coverage, that is, you must assert notability then support it using reliable sources. Such sources must not be affiliated with the library in any way and must not be the kind of site where anyone can input information, like blogs, forums, etc. (and yes, that even includes Wikipedia itself).
Until that part gets done, I must say that any work on any other part of the article is pointless.
But to answer your question about how to insert an infobox, the best way to learn, I guess, would be to click edit on any page that already contains what you want, then look at the source code. But be careful not to click save when you do that. -- Blanchardb -MeMyEarsMyMouth- timed 00:56, 3 June 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Existence vs. notability[edit]

You wrote here that people doubt the existence of this library. Actually, I haven't seen anyone express any doubt about that. It is the notability of that library that is in doubt. My left foot exists. Does it mean Wikipedia must have an article on it? -- Blanchardb -MeMyEarsMyMouth- timed 01:42, 3 June 2009 (UTC)[reply]
