Appolyon[edit]

Hey, this band is legit, you probably haven't heard of it yet. Give the guy a chance to work on it, okay? It's going to be recreated again in the future, anyway. -- SilvaStorm

Sorry, but the article asserts nothing about the band's notability. All it states is that they will soon be releasing their demo. Please do not remove deletion notices. Ocatecir Talk 08:18, 7 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]

ANZAC Day[edit]

A apologise for that error.I am still trying to learn how to use wikipedia. How do I edit just a portion of the page? I want to add some stuff. I was trying to add some links to other pages on the net and I by accident I erased the page. A person I know just taught me how to do it. I also do programming. Do you know how I might add .exe files in the programming section for Visual Basic? I hope this leaves my name. --Drnoitall.hello 09:11, 7 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]

You can edit just a section by pressing the edit link next to a title of the section you wish to edit. Not sure about your other questions, probably something you would have to ask editors who are involved with that page. Ocatecir Talk 09:14, 7 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]

thanks[edit]

thanks, that was what i had intended. cheers —The preceding unsigned comment was added by Jharris815 (talkcontribs) 05:07, 9 May 2007 (UTC).[reply]

user Mramerecka[edit]

Hi, I noticed your vandalism warning on this users talk page; today they edited the Primary Education article with this [[1]]. It contains very sexualised language. As an editor, can you block the account at all? Thanks --Brideshead 18:22, 10 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]

I gave him a final warning and reported his account to Administrator Interventention Vandalism (AIV) as a vandalism only account (~7 edits, none of them constructive). An administrator will now examine his account and judge whether his actions deserve a block. Thanks for the notice! Ocatecir Talk 18:52, 10 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]

you have reverted my delete nomination at Kundi. please refer Sri Lankan Tamil slang for what the words in that article mean. I am a sysop at tamil wikipedia and this is my contribution [2] at tamil wikipedia. --கோபி 20:50, 12 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]

You gave no reason for the speedy deletion. The article already survived an AFD here, so a speedy deletion would not be appropriate. Yes, the article needs work, but if it is to be deleted it should go through an AFD. Ocatecir Talk 20:53, 12 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]

please refer Sri Lankan Tamil slang. each and every word in that article is a sexual slang.

  • Kundi - Ones back side. Although it is a literal not a slang term it is rarely used in public discourse hence attaining the status of slang term when used.
  • Pundai* - Used to boys/men to describe a female genitalia in a non friendly manner. It is considered to be rude to use this word when directly spoken to a girl/woman. Can be used by men to refer to each other also.

and so on. கோபி 20:58, 12 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Then please bring that up in an AFD. A quick google search brings up tribes with "Kundi" in them, so I don't believe this page should be deleted hastily. According the the article kundi are pashtun so the tamil translation could be a coincidence. Ocatecir Talk 21:03, 12 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]
I reverted the article to the version it had right after it survived the AFD, bringing it down to stub status. Ocatecir Talk 21:13, 12 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]

thank you. --கோபி 21:17, 12 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]

thanks for correcting that error on the brett doster page. it's my first. —The preceding unsigned comment was added by Alilucky5 (talkcontribs) 22:21, 13 May 2007 (UTC).[reply]

Thanks for the userpage reversion[edit]

Thanks! Thanks for reverting the vandalism on my userpage - that makes 5 10 vandal edits just today. Nihiltres(t.c.s) 23:43, 13 May 2007 (UTC) (fixed slight mistake 23:46, 13 May 2007 (UTC))[reply]

Ocatecir, thank you for your kind words in support of my RfA, which successfully closed yesterday. Please feel free to drop me a line any time if I can help you in any way. Pastordavid 14:59, 14 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]

RfA[edit]

Absolutely.. just caught this before bed so I'll sleep on the nom... get ready for a fun week, i was just reminiscing about my RfA, it's a year since they handed me the mop. Mine started off really well then a few opposes came along and I thought the tide might turn, then levelled out after about 4 days and finished something like 55/9. Mail me if theres anything you need to whisper. Deiz talk 17:38, 19 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]

???[edit]

I was warned by him for vandalising the Fa cup final 2007 article, in which I was editting false information on the scoreline! and i got warned for helping wikipedia out. what a joke! —Preceding unsigned comment added by 81.153.9.222 (talkcontribs)

Then please point his error to him civilly. Calling people names will not get the results you want. We are all here to better the encyclopedia so cooperation works better than conflict. Thank you. Ocatecir Talk 17:45, 19 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]
I was warning him for this vandal edit[3], seems he made a mistake trying to clean up the article. All cleared up now. Dave101talk  17:53, 19 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Suggestions on Votesizing[edit]

Hi, I am interested in writing an article for votesizing in Wikipedia. I would like the articles to abide by all the rules and regulations of Wikipedie e.g. NPOV etc. and updating my skills on Wikipedia.

I would kindly request you to guide me in this area as well as ask your opinion about votesizing. Warm Regards Dushyant Thapa —Preceding unsigned comment added by Thapadushy (talkcontribs)

Well in order to beef up the article to save it from deletion sources will need to be added. These citations are needed to verify the information and to prove notability, and should be independent from your organization and be from reliable sources with a reputation for fact checking. So far the only information I could find about votesizing is from the democratic empowerment party, which would not qualify it as independent. Please see Wikipedia:Article development for guidelines on how to write a great article. Thanks for contributing to the encyclopedia. Ocatecir Talk 02:28, 21 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]

As you see that the article on votesizing has been shifted to Dushyant/Vote sizing as per the Wikipedia's regulations for articles udner construction. I shall be soon adding the relevant referances. till then you can also visit www.votesizing.org. Thank you for your contribution and interest in the project.--Thapadushy 05:18, 22 May 2007 (UTC)

Complex interdependence[edit]

I worked on the complex interdpendence page. I hope that's okay, feel free to dialogue with me if you have questions or answers. Thanks --Kenneth M Burke 23:35, 21 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Its no problem at all, I found your additions to be very valuable, thank you for your contributions. When I get some time I will go through and clean up some of the formatting to bring it in line with wikipedia's manual of style and maybe add some things of my own, but I am pleased to see more wikipedia editors adding to our IR theory articles, many of them are lacking. about woodrose[edit]

im sorry to ask but what changes did i do to the woodrose page that was considered vandanism. i cant recall editing the woodrose page, i guess i edited it a long time ago. thanks. -gab —Preceding unsigned comment added by 124.107.252.239 (talkcontribs)

That vandalism warning was left in march right after someone from that ip vandalized PAREF Woodrose School with this edit. It might not have been you. The easiest way to avoid getting warnings for someone else's actions is to create an account. Happy editing! Ocatecir Talk 04:31, 23 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Recent WP:UAA report[edit]

Hi Ocatecir, you recently reported DakotaKahn (talk · contribs · blocks · protections · deletions · page moves · rights · RfA) to UAA for having a username that's too long. I'm pretty sure that was a mistake, so I just thought I'd give you a heads-up just in case something is wrong with your script, or something. Cheers :) – Riana 04:17, 23 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]

I see you already know - never mind! Take care, – Riana 04:18, 23 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]
Yep, either twinkle went nuts on me for a sec or I had a major brain fart. Either way, sorry DakotaKahn. Ocatecir Talk 04:31, 23 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]
No problems. It has been a weird day all around :)--Dakota 04:36, 23 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]
I see now I was trying to report User:I HEREBY AWARD DAKOTA KAHN A BARNSTAR! but somehow reported you instead. Take care. Ocatecir Talk 04:46, 23 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Chuck Liddell's bio[edit]

You suggest that a citation is needed on Chuck Liddell's biography page with regards to the reference to his ability to "quell fights" in the bar he worked at. As the source of that paragraph, I was a student at Cal Poly while Chuck was working at The Library, frequented this bar for many years while in school, and personally witnessed (as well as helped break up) numerous fights that erupted within the bar that Chuck broke up with other bouncers. I don't think you will find any mention of this fact in any ESPN article - I lived it and had mutual friends with him though I did not personally know him. Please feel free to respond if you have any further concerns or questions.—Preceding unsigned comment added by Bmcdonal1975 (talkcontribs)

Thank you for your contributions. I have no doubt that you are telling the truth, but the threshold for inclusion on wikipedia is verifiability, not truth, so in order to include that in the bio we need a citation from a source with a reputation for fact checking. Should a source be found it can be added back in immediately. Happy editing! Ocatecir Talk 05:37, 26 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]

You're a sysop![edit]

Hi, Ocatecir/Archive6, Congratulations on Becoming a Sysop!

Hey there. I'm pleased to let you know that, consensus being reached, you are now an administrator! You've volunteered to do housekeeping duties that normal users sadly cannot participate in. Sysops can't do a lot of stuff: They can't delete pages just like that (except patent nonsense like "aojt9085yu8;3ou"), and they can't protect pages in an edit war they are involved in. But they can delete random junk, block anonymous vandals, delete pages listed on articles for deletion for more than 5 days (provided there's a consensus), protect pages when asked to, and keep the few protected pages that exist on Wikipedia up to date.

Almost anything you can do can be undone, but please take a look at The Administrators' how-to guide and the Administrators' reading list before you get started (although you should have read that during your candidacy ;). Take a look before experimenting with your powers. Also, please add Administrators' noticeboard to your watchlist, as there are always discussions/requests for admins there. If you have any questions drop me a message at My talk page. Have fun! =Nichalp «Talk»=
PS Please add you name to WP:LA!

  • Congratulations, Ocatecir. Best of luck with the tools. —Anas talk? 15:18, 27 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]
  • Congratulations!! You fully deserve it, Ocatecir. See you around :) All the best, PeaceNT 18:15, 27 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]
Congratulations. Here are what pass for words of wisdom from the puppy:
  1. Remember you will always protect the wrong version.
  2. Remember you must always follow the rules, except for when you ignore them. You will always pick the wrong one to do. (See #5)
  3. Remember to assume good faith and not bite. Remember that when you are applying these principles most diligently, you are probably dealing with a troll.
  4. Use the block ability sparingly. Enjoy the insults you receive when you do block.
  5. Remember when you make these errors, someone will be more than happy to point them out to you in dazzling clarity and descriptive terminology.
  6. and finally, Remember to contact me if you ever need assistance, and I will do what I am able.

Hey dude[edit]

I noticed that you're deleting the Clockcrew page each time it's recreated. Just to let you know (unless you know already), he has re-created the page a good few times since you gave him the final warning, and I'm guessing he's doing it as I type now. Then again, at the speed this is happening, I wouldn't be surprised if you've already blocked him and this is obsolete! Lol, anyway, just thought I'd let you know dude. ≈ The Haunted Angel 18:57, 27 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Yep, he is already blocked. Thanks for the help! Ocatecir Talk 18:58, 27 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]
