Improper copy/paste[edit]

Dear editor, please review the GFDL policy, and do not copy/paste current Wikipedia content into new pages. Please see the help pages before creating new pages to understand how to properly create a new article on Wikipedia. this page was an obvious straight copy/paste of another Wikipedia article, (Call of Duty: World at War) and thus, against the policy. Speedy deletion of AGS-30[edit]

A tag has been placed on AGS-30 requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section G12 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the article appears to be a blatant copyright infringement. For legal reasons, we cannot accept copyrighted text or images borrowed from other web sites or printed material, and as a consequence, your addition will most likely be deleted. You may use external websites as a source of information, but not as a source of sentences. This part is crucial: say it in your own words.

If the external website belongs to you, and you want to allow Wikipedia to use the text — which means allowing other people to modify it — then you must verify that externally by one of the processes explained at Wikipedia:Donating copyrighted materials. If you are not the owner of the external website but have permission from that owner, see Wikipedia:Requesting copyright permission. You might want to look at Wikipedia's policies and guidelines for more details, or ask a question here.

If you think that this notice was placed here in error, you may contest the deletion by adding {{hangon}} to the top of the page that has been nominated for deletion (just below the existing speedy deletion or "db" tag), coupled with adding a note on the talk page explaining your position, but be aware that once tagged for speedy deletion, if the article meets the criterion it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but don't hesitate to add information to the article that would would render it more in conformance with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. A tag has been placed on Flag of Vietcong, requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under the criteria for speedy deletion, because it is a very short article providing no content to the reader. Please note that external links, "See also" section, book reference, category tag, template tag, interwiki link, rephrasing of the title, or an attempt to contact the subject of the article don't count as content. Please see Wikipedia:Stub for our minimum information standards for short articles. Also please note that articles must be on notable subjects and should provide references to reliable sources that verify their content.

Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself. If you plan to expand the article, you can request that administrators wait a while for you to add contextual material. To do this, affix the template {{hangon}} to the page and state your intention on the article's talk page. Feel free to leave a note on my talk page if you have any questions about this. —Switchercat talkcont 23:27, 16 January 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Proposed deletion of Ba'ath takes power in Syria and Iraq[edit]

A proposed deletion template has been added to the article Ba'ath takes power in Syria and Iraq, suggesting that it be deleted according to the proposed deletion process because of the following concern:

Covered in the Ba'ath Party article and the respective history articles of those two countries

All contributions are appreciated, but this article may not satisfy Wikipedia's criteria for inclusion, and the deletion notice should explain why (see also "What Wikipedia is not" and Wikipedia's deletion policy). You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{dated prod}} notice, but please explain why you disagree with the proposed deletion in your edit summary or on its talk page.

Please consider improving the article to address the issues raised because, even though removing the deletion notice will prevent deletion through the proposed deletion process, the article may still be deleted if it matches any of the speedy deletion criteria or it can be sent to Articles for Deletion, where it may be deleted if consensus to delete is reached. An article you created maybe deleted soon: Tools which can help you[edit]

The article you created: Ba'ath takes power in Syria and Iraq may be deleted from Wikipedia.

There is an ongoing debate about whether your article should be deleted here:

The faster you respond on this page, the better chance the article you created can be saved.

Finding sources which mention the topic of your article is the very best way to avoid an article being deleted {{Findsources3}}:

Find sources for Ba'ath takes power in Syria and Iraq: google news recent, google news old, google books, google scholar, NYT recent, NYT old, a9, msbooks, msacademic ...You can then cite these results in the Article for deletion discussion.

Also, there are several tools and helpful editors on Wikipedia who can help you:

1. List the page on Article Rescue Squadron. You can get help listing your page on the Article Rescue Squadron talk page.
2. At any time, you can ask any administrator to move your article to a special page. (Called userfication)
3. You can request a mentor to help explain all of the complex rules that editors use to get a page deleted: Wikipedia:Adopt-a-User. But don't wait for a mentor to respond to you before responding on the article for deletion page.
4. When trying to delete a page, veteran editors love to use a lot of rule acronyms. Don't let these acronyms intimidate you. Here is a list of acronyms you can use yourself: WP:Deletion debate acronyms which may support the page you created being kept.

If your page is deleted, you also have many options available. Good luck! travb (talk) 20:25, 17 January 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Can you Please Let that article stay I really like it and its like making any other article, also it has perfect information if you want me to put that article any where else on a wikipedia page I'll DO IT! Please — Preceding unsigned comment added by Ohmygod766 (talkcontribs) 22:16, 17 January 2009

Hello sir/ma'am, I am trying to help you. Please, please, please for your own sake do not continue to revert that tag. There is something on wikipedia called the WP:3RR rule. If you change the page 3 times in 24 hours, you can be banned. I don't want you to be banned.
Please comment here:
Wikipedia:Articles_for_deletion/Ba'ath_takes_power_in_Syria_and_Iraq
...instead of on this talk page
NO ONE will read this page. The editor who may delete your article will not read this page.
RE:"if you want me to put that article any where else on a wikipedia page I'll DO IT!"
I moved your contributions to the talk page of Ba'ath party:
Talk:Ba'ath_Party#Article_for_deletion:_Ba.27ath_takes_power_in_Syria_and_Iraq
...so your contributions and hard work will not be deleted.
You are welcome to edit Ba'ath party. I encourage you to comment on Wikipedia:Articles_for_deletion/Ba'ath_takes_power_in_Syria_and_Iraq. travb (talk) 23:34, 17 January 2009 (UTC)[reply]
You should definitely listen to travb's advice here; s/he is an editor with a lot of experience in saving articles that are up for deletion.
The main thing you can do is to quickly improve the article while the discussion is going on; one way to do that is to add as many reliable sources as possible, in the form of footnotes to the article. (You may contact me at User talk:Politizer if you have any questions about how to make footnotes on Wikipedia.) Another thing you can work on is discussing the impact of the Ba'ath takeover: in addition to describing what happened (as well as how and why it happened), you can describe why it's important historically and what effect it has had on these countries. The third thing you can work on is adding more links to other articles. The main idea is to have the article read not like a news article narrating one event, but like an encyclopedia article discussing the event and the importance of the event. Flag icons in the M249 article[edit]

Hello. I have reverted your addition of flag icons to the M249 article. According to the guidelines on flag icons, they should only be incuded if they are useful in some way; they may, for example, show which country a general fought for in a battle involving many different participants, or make a long list of countries easier to read. In this instance they are merely decorative and don't convey any useful information to the reader.--Pattont/c 17:26, 28 January 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Please do not add hoaxes to Wikipedia, such as you did in the article Russia-Ultranationalist Civil War. Hoaxes are caught and marked for deletion shortly after they are created. If you are interested in how accurate Wikipedia is, a more constructive test method is to try to find inaccurate statements that are already in Wikipedia – and then to correct them if possible. Please don't disrupt Wikipedia in an attempt to test our ability to detect and remove such material. Feel free to take a look at the five pillars of Wikipedia policy to learn more about this project and how you can make a positive impact. Thank you. Nick-D (talk) 04:13, 7 February 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Image copyright problem with File:Automatic Shotgun.jpg[edit]

Thanks for uploading File:Automatic Shotgun.jpg. You've indicated that the image is being used under a claim of fair use, but you have not provided an adequate explanation for why it meets Wikipedia's requirements for such images. In particular, for each page the image is used on, the image must have an explanation linking to that page which explains why it needs to be used on that page. Can you please check

  • That there is a non-free use rationale on the image's description page for each article the image is used in.
  • That every article it is used on is linked to from its description page.

Fair use rationale for File:Type II Sub Machine Gun.jpg[edit]

Thanks for uploading or contributing to File:Type II Sub Machine Gun.jpg. I notice the file page specifies that the file is being used under fair use but there is not a suitable explanation or rationale as to why each specific use in Wikipedia constitutes fair use. Please go to the file description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale.

If you have uploaded other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on those pages too. You can find a list of 'file' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "File" from the dropdown box. Note that any non-free media lacking such an explanation will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. — neuro(talk)(review) 18:29, 22 March 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Winans Steam Gun article?[edit]

Hi, I see you added this article last November. I had never heard of the weapon and found the article very interesting. But then I discovered that it seemed to be taken verbatim from Ingenious Steam Machines, by Dr. Robert T. Rhode, in the November/December 2003 issue of Farm Collector. It looks like a clear case of copyright violation to me. Do you know anything about the author, or the journal in which the article appeared? Would they wish to see their article duplicated in Wikipedia? If not, I would be glad to try to summarize this material and find information from other sources to include in the resulting Wiki article. I would appreciate your help, if you know anything about the gun, as I didn't know a thing about it until I stumbled over the article. Please let me hear from you.
