Orphaned non-free media (Image:Nike(c).svg)

Thanks for uploading Image:Nike(c).svg. The media description page currently specifies that it is non-free and may only be used on Wikipedia under a claim of fair use. However, it is currently orphaned, meaning that it is not used in any articles on Wikipedia. If the media was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. You may add it back if you think that that will be useful. However, please note that media for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable for use on Wikipedia (see our policy for non-free media).

If you have uploaded other unlicensed media, please check whether they're used in any articles or not. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Note that all non-free media not used in any articles will be deleted after seven days, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. Thank you. BJBot (talk) 12:07, 4 June 2008 (UTC)

Commons message you left me

I am simply not interested in starting a commons account, as I prefer to keep editing here. If you wish, you can move the images. SpencerT♦C 01:56, 5 June 2008 (UTC)

I gave it some thought and decided I'd give it a try. Would you mind if I asked you questions about commons when I use it? If not, how do I delete the images here once I upload them on commons? SpencerT♦C 10:59, 5 June 2008 (UTC)
Okay, I tried to create an account, but the username "Spencer" has already been taken. What do I do? SpencerT♦C 11:17, 5 June 2008 (UTC)
I'm working on the SUL, but I need the accoun moved, which I'm doing right now. SpencerT♦C 22:03, 5 June 2008 (UTC)
Okay, thanks. I took the user name (no contribs) and am doing the SUL. Thanks for all of your help. SpencerT♦C 11:04, 6 June 2008 (UTC)

Uploaded my first image! (well, rather re-uploaded). Thanks again for all of your help. SpencerT♦C 19:21, 6 June 2008 (UTC)

Windows Classic

Firstly, per Commons:Deletion requests/Windows screenshots, we established that the Windows Classic interface was too basic to be copyrightable, due in part to its simplicity, and Apple Computer, Inc. v. Microsoft Corporation. ViperSnake151 15:10, 24 June 2008 (UTC)

Screenshots? Don't see an obvious problem ...

Can you explain why Image:Debian_Installer_screenshot.png is problematic? It's one of several GPL screenshots you've tagged today. Angus McLellan (Talk) 12:28, 25 June 2008 (UTC)

Thanks, makes sense now. Angus McLellan (Talk) 21:07, 25 June 2008 (UTC)

Wikimedia Commons

That was kind of a random note to leave me, given http://commons.wikimedia.org/w/index.php?title=Special%3ALog&type=rights&user=&page=User%3AWilyD&year=&month=-1 Cheers, WilyD 20:35, 25 June 2008 (UTC)

  • I mean, random as it gives no context. WilyD 20:59, 25 June 2008 (UTC)

Images

I tried to move an image, filled in the boxes (changed the name from image:Bluenuthhatch01.jpg to Sitta azurea) got taken to another page, where I apparently had to fill it all in again, and was told the file was empty. I'm sure it's my stupidity, but it just looks too time consuming. Why can't GFDL images automatically upload to commons as well as en-wiki jimfbleak (talk) 05:40, 26 June 2008 (UTC)

Access image in Wikimeadia commons.

As you suggested, I have opened an account and uploaded some .jpg files to Wikimedia.

Now how does one access these files from plain old Wikipedia?

Hi, I deleted this image per your CSD tag, but have since undeleted because I think the GPL license of the software should cover this screenshot. What do you think? If you have concerns then WP:PUI may be a better course. Kevin (talk) 01:10, 29 June 2008 (UTC)

Are you trying to be a jerk?

YOu moved a picture to commons that has been DELETED from commons due to us freedom of panorama. IT IS ONLY THERE AT THE MOMENT SO I CAN COPY IT< IT CANNOT EXIST THERE DUE TO THE RULES> you obvisouly didn't even check what was going on. Enjoy deleting my messages, but why don't you visit my commons talk page and inform yourself. THe image has to remain on WP servers due to the US copyright laws. pschemp | talk 21:10, 29 June 2008 (UTC)
