Changing username / Request for Usurpation[edit]

Hi. Because of unified login I'd prefer if you changed your username. My username is "Skalman" on most projects (including Swedish Wiktionary, where I'm an administrator), so for me to fulfill the unified login process you have to change your name. That you may do at WP:RENAME. I'd really appreciate if you did this. Thanks a lot, Shell-man (talk) 17:51, 6 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]

It is (more or less) required that I add the following informational message too, so I'm doing just that:

Hello, Skalman. A request has been made at Wikipedia:Changing username/Usurpations to usurp, or "take over", your username because you have not used it to edit, and another user would like to use it to edit. Wikipedia:Changing username/Usurpations says that any unused username may be usurped if the user is given seven days notice to object and does not do so.

If you have an email set in your preferences, you should be getting an email from a bureaucrat or changing username clerk explaining how to consent or object to this process.

If you do not object to being renamed to a new username in order for another user to utilize the name you currently have, please log in and post a reply here saying so (you may also tell us what username you would like to be renamed to, or we will provide you with a generic one).

If you do nothing: the request will be filled after seven days, and your account will be moved to a generic username. You may request that it be moved to a new username of your choice at any time.

If you object to being renamed: please log in and make an edit. You may make an edit here saying "No", you may make an edit to blank this page, or any other edit you like; making any edit at all prevents your username from being usurped, because users with edits cannot have their usernames usurped.

Please note that even if your current username is usurped, you can still edit and your data will not be lost; your preferences, watchlist, and other user settings will be transferred to a new username.

Thank you for your time. Shell-man (talk) 21:31, 16 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]

I object to this. I need some time to think it over, and I find this message somewhat insulting, since it says I haven't edited anything. Sure, I've only done small edits this far, but I'd like to keep my account. As for my username, it's my real name nickname, and giving it up is kind of hard, even here. But I'll think about it. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Skalman (talkcontribs)
(it feels sort of awkward that we're speaking English, since both of us are Swedes, but so that others can understand the discussion too I'll continue in English) I'm sorry - I didn't mean to insult you (and the thing about editing was included by a template, and not my words). Funnily enough "Skalman" is my real nickname too, and of course I respect if you want to keep the username.
I would still really like to complete the unification process, so I'd appreciate if you'd agree to change your name. If you don't change your mind it'll work fine anyway, but could you please let me know? Either way or the other - could you at least answer (here) before May, so I know if I should count on it or not?
I don't mean to persuade you to make a decision you'd rather not, even if it seems like it (and it perhaps actually is ). Greetings, Shell-man (talk) 19:58, 17 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Okay, now I've put in a request for changing my username, so it should be up to grabs for you, then.
