Illmatic[edit]

Could you explain why you (in effect) reverted my shortening of a paragraph by readding a quote and a historical explanation which I had removed in the interest of conciseness? It would be helpful if you could use edit summaries to explain edits such as this.

Thanks for you help with Illmatic; looks like it'll become featured soon. TheJabberwʘck 21:33, 2 May 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Well, as you can see in ego trip itself, not necessarily - it's only capitalized at the start of a sentence. You think the table format justifies the (ugly-looking) use of mixed caps ("Ego trip" instead of "ego trip")? TheJabberwʘck 01:06, 9 May 2006 (UTC)[reply]
No, but see, the current "Ego trip" formatting is like double mixed caps: the second lowercase letter contrasts both with the "Ego" and with the rest of the publications. Seems to me it's better to have either all lowercase or all uppercase for each entry. TheJabberwʘck 01:23, 9 May 2006 (UTC)[reply]

re: rapping[edit]

I dont really have anything in mind for next collaboration after rapping, the project members can nominate and vote for which ever article they want as a collaboration, and which ever has the most votes will be our collaboration. I think we should rely on the voting process instead of a few members deciding on an article. But I would have to agree Tupac Shakur would be a great collaboration. - Tutmosis 13:31, 6 May 2006 (UTC)[reply]

no need to worry[edit]

it seems to be a collab now.--Urthogie 07:07, 8 May 2006 (UTC)[reply]

edit summaries[edit]

When editing an article on Wikipedia there is a small field labelled "Edit summary" under the main edit-box. It looks like this:

Edit summary text box

The text written here will appear on the Recent changes page, in the page revision history, on the diff page, and in the watchlists of users who are watching that article. See m:Help:Edit summary for full information on this feature.

When you leave the edit summary blank, some of your edits could be mistaken for vandalism and may be reverted, so please always briefly summarize your edits, especially when you are making subtle but important changes, like changing dates or numbers. Thank you.

Seriously! You're doing good work, but its frustrating when you provide no explanation. Λυδαcιτγ(TheJabberwock) 21:15, 21 May 2006 (UTC)[reply]

re:The golden age of hip hop for deletion?[edit]

Okay I responded and voted Keep. Thanks for letting me know. - Tutmosis 19:12, 21 May 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks for letting me know. I try to stay out of these arguments, (Especially because I was in the 6th grade when The Chronic came out), but the page should be up for people who want to know about the golden age. But if the timeline is so subjective, from what i understand, maybe it shouldn't be stated as a clear cut fact, but rather popular belief, since people do look at wikipedia as being correct? -- Carlos 04:21, 23 May 2006 (UTC)[reply]

rapping[edit]

I think that the section on subject matter needs a bit of cleanup, then it'll be ready.--Urthogie 07:04, 23 May 2006 (UTC)[reply]

re: Illmatic songs[edit]

This topic has already been hashed out significantly at Wikipedia:WikiProject Music/Notability and Music Guidelines/Songs. Articles on the non-single album tracks from Illmatic are unneccessary, especially when each of those can be covered in one sentence each in the main article. Pretty much, unless a song is highly notable in some right ("Ether") or was a successful hit ("If I Ruled the World (Imagine That)"), the song doesn't need an article. --FuriousFreddy 10:46, 23 May 2006 (UTC)[reply]

I think that "fishing for votes" is frowned upon, and that the article should indeed be deleted. --FuriousFreddy

Whats up? Hi, I'm trying to gather some more interest and support for the Wikipedia:WikiProject Punk music. Please check out the topics and lets get our WikiProject to function better. Recently, I've taken an interest in the Wikipedia:WikiProject hip hop and I consider that WikiProject to be better developed. I am now writing to usernames on the hiphopWP who might be interested in helping with the punkmusicWP. Hopefully we can all work together to improve articles relating to punk as has been done well with hip hop. Finally, I am trying to gather support and opinions concerning the punk house article and specifically the Theta Beta Potata article which is currently in AfD (x2) at Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Theta Beta Potata (second nomination). Please check it out and voice your opinion. Xsxex 09:15, 5 September 2006 (UTC)[reply]
