Struvite picture[edit]

I actually have no idea how to add a scale to that picture. I know it was taken at 40x, but my microscope does not have a built-in scale (and even if it did, I don't have that slide anymore). Any ideas? --Joelmills 04:14, 22 January 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Ok, let me know what you think. I should have said the image is at 400x, not 40x (I forgot to include the 10x of the eyepiece), which is why the scale is small (4.1 pixels/micron). Luckily at work we have a slide used to count white blood cells that has a grid at the center with 50 micron spacing, so I was able to take a photo of that at the same magnification on the microscope and same F number on the camera. Apology[edit]

Sorry about that, as you know someone else had complained of other copyvio, and it was written so well I checked to see if it could be found elsewhere, and assumed it was more copyvio. Very decent of you to post an apology here and there for others to see, and thanks. Just a few thoughts:

1) Someone flagged the article for possible copyright violations w/o specifically stating what they suspected...the whole article? (This, I understand, set you up.) They did not meet the burden of using such a flag, and it should have been removed pending clarification.

2) The presumption of copyright violation by WP if material shows up elsewhere on the web. The two websites that you pointed to cribbed shamelessly w/o attribution to the WP Hydroponics article. I'm sure there's more. In this particular case, because I was an author I could dig up the exact date of that material being entered, but other WP material would be harder to date, even with the revision history. This could be a real problem for wikipedia as its materials get raided by others who fear no copyright violation notices from WP. PBarak (talk) 19:11, 25 June 2009 (UTC)[reply]
