Disambiguation pages
Hello, Pariah24. When you redirected Military order to a new disambiguation page, you may have overlooked the fact that several hundred other articles contain links to "Military order" or "Military orders" that now need to be fixed to point to the correct article. When you create new disambiguation pages, please fix all incoming links to titles affected by the changes you made, as suggested at WP:FIXDABLINKS. - @R'n'B: I understand. For some reason all the links weren't showing right after I did the edits. I will get to work setting that to rights. I realize it's counterproductive for these links to get redirected to the dab page.

Decline reason: You will need to give a much more specific reason why you should edit Wikipedia from a VPN than just a vague "keep Google and other companies from tracking me". Maybe there is some good reason why you don't want Google to track your activity on Wikipedia, but that reason will have to be good enough to outweigh the fact that it would prevent your activity on Wikipedia from being scrutinised on Wikipedia, if and when necessary. - @JamesBWatson: Maybe I'm ignorant on this subject, if so I apologize, but how exactly does granting an editor an IP exemption only while he is logged in prevent his actions from being scrutinized? Seems like everything I do would still be easily attributable to me if I'm doing it on my account. I completely understand and support this policy for unregistered users. I use a private VPN to protect my privacy and keep Google and other companies from tracking me. I pay for the service; the servers are private and I don't believe they offer any free/open/trial servers. The IP addresses for the servers closest to my location are blocked and this is a pretty big inconvenience to me. I have to either use other overseas servers to edit, or edit on my local IP, which I dislike using at all. Don't see any reason why I shouldn't be able to use these IP addresses as long as I'm logged in.

- I listed the IP I was blocked from in the template above. I don't think I would consider it moot; VPNs are very good things to have in this day and age. Yes, I can edit from my local IP address, so I'm not totally blocked from editing, but that defeats the purpose of having a VPN. The idea is to avoid using my local IP altogether, to safeguard against companies tracking me and my ISP monitoring my traffic. I'm sure there's plenty of editors out there with similar ideas. My guess is that someone spammed/vandalized/etc through an open proxy using some of the same servers that my VPN company uses. But I don't use proxies. I don't think it's very fair that legitimate editors should be penalized because of the actions of others simply because they are on the same IP address range. Because of that I have to set up my connection differently from all my other internet activity just to edit Wikipedia. Kinda sucks. Like I said, if I'm logged into my Wikipedia account my actions are easily identifiable, and it shouldn't matter what IP I use. It's not the end of the world; it would just make my editing experience less of a hassle, more enjoyable, and keep my connection secure. Pariah24 ┃ ☏ 08:16, 6 December 2014 (UTC)

- @Jéské Couriano: Well looks like I was declined anyway. I understand why the policy exists for people editing without accounts, but not why it is forced on people who are logged in. If I am editing from my account I am not anonymous. My IP address should be irrelevant as I can be blocked/banned from my account. Sigh. Just seems a little draconian to me. I fail to see how allowing legit logged in users to use whatever IP they want is detrimental to the fight against vandalism. I wish someone could explain that to me. - Thanks, I use Twinkle quite a bit but I never noticed that feature. I tend to use {{ping}} myself because I prefer notifications, but if I'm having an extended conversation with someone I'll usually just follow whatever method they use. New Page Review needs your help
Hi Pariah24/Archives/2017,
As an AfC reviewer you're probably aware that a new user right has been created for patrolling new pages (you might even have been granted the right already, and admins have it automatically).
Since July there has been a very serious backlog at Special:NewPagesFeed of over 14,000 pages, by far the worst since 2011, and we need an all out drive to get this back down to just a few hundred that can be easily maintained in the future. Unlike AfC, these pages are already in mainspace, and the thought of what might be there is quite scary. There are also many good faith article creators who need a simple, gentle push to the Tea House or their pages converted to Draft rather than being deleted.
Although New Page Reviewing can occasionally be somewhat more challenging than AfC, the criteria for obtaining the right are roughly the same. The Page Curation tool is even easier to use than the Helper Script, so it's likely that most AfC reviewers already have more than enough knowledge for the task of New Page Review.
It is hoped that AfC reviewers will apply for this right at WP:PERM and lend a hand. You'll need to have read the page at WP:NPR and the new tutorial.
