Statement of Faith in Church of God in Christ[edit]

Greetings! I removed this content from the article, and I wanted to explain why.

The problem is that it is transcription of source material. Wikipedia articles are articles about the subject and, for the most part, should not contain large quotations of text. That said, it may be useful in contrasting its doctrine to other denominations to say that, according to the Statement of Faith, "the only means of being cleansed from sin, is through repentance, faith in the precious blood of Jesus Christ according to Romans 10:8-10" and then cite where the information is published. (If I were making a similar assertion about the Episcopal Church, I would likely cite the Book of Common Prayer.)

Secondarily, because it is published material, there is a potential issue with copyright. Wikipedia takes seriously its status as a free encyclopedia, so if there is a question of whether text or images are protected by copyright, administrators usually err on the side of caution and remove it.

That's why I removed the content. If you have questions, you can feel free to ask me on my talk page or the talk page for the article. Regards, —C.Fred (talk) 17:09, 2 August 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Please bear in mind that verifiability is critical in articles. Thus, the problem with your statement that "I am aware of the books published that you listed however, those works offer inaccuracies that the former Presiding Bishop L.H. Ford addressed both sermonically and in church video presentations. We will continue with the preservation of the factual record as espoused by church leaders" is that if the other books are independent, they will be deemed to be more reliable, and Wikipedia articles should always present information from reliable sources. —C.Fred (talk) 16:27, 3 August 2007 (UTC)[reply]
