RFA Notes[edit]

Admin[edit]

I'm not sure whether I would be qualified in the first place, and I certainly think that an existing controversy regarding Bob Dylan's former conversion will almost certainly net me serious negative votes right now. However, I am not averse to maybe undergoing editor review at some point in the future and seeing how the waters look there. I hope you have a useful and productive weekend persuing what we probably both think are your more meaningful and importance activities over the weekend. God has blessed wikipedia with you as a valuable and objective contributor, and I sincerely hope that you find the reception and response "at work" that I believe, based on your contributions here, you so richly deserve. Nomination for adminship[edit]

Hope that answers it? :) Best of luck to you. Seraphimblade Talk to me 19:02, 6 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]

It's done, and everything looked fine. Mathbot will take care of posting the edit summary links and stuff, so you don't have to worry about those at all. Seraphimblade Talk to me 02:31, 7 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]

RFA Thanks[edit]

RFA thanks[edit]

Thank you, Pastordavid, for your constructive comments in my recent RFA, which passed with 86 support, 8 oppose, and 5 neutral !votes. I will keep in mind all your suggestions and/or concerns, and will try to live up to your standards. Please, if you have any comments or complaints about my actions as an administrator, leave a note on my talk page, and I will respond as soon as I possibly can, without frying my brain, of course.
Thank you once more,

My Rfa[edit]

Congratulations![edit]

Congratulations you are now an administrator! Secretlondon 19:44, 13 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Congrats from me as well. Good to have you here. I'm impressed with what I've seen and look forward to more. Best, Antandrus (talk) 19:46, 13 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]
Congrats! And of course remember...
  1. If you protect a page, you will always protect the wrong version. But don't worry, someone will be along quickly to point you to another wrong version to revert to. This process may be repeated as necessary.
  2. If you block someone, you are an abusive administrator who should be desysopped. If you don't, you're enabling disruptive users and trolls.
  3. When you delete a page, be prepared for those who wished to keep it to disagree with you civilly and rationally.
  4. And do have fun!
But in all seriousness, congrats and it's well-deserved! Seraphimblade Talk to me 19:49, 13 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]
Congratulations on your successful RfA! Best of luck with the tools. —Anas talk? 19:51, 13 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]
Congratulations from me too, and best of luck! Til Eulenspiegel 19:53, 13 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]
Congratulations. In case you're interested there is an admin IRC channel on freenode. See Wikipedia:IRC channels/wikipedia-en-admins for more information. Cheers, --KFP (talk | contribs) 20:28, 13 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]
Wikipedia is fortunate to have someone of your talent as an administrator. Congratulations! Majoreditor 20:42, 13 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Here's hoping everything starts off smoothly for you, and that you get at least two good weeks in before someone starts a Wikipedia:Administrators' noticeboard/Incidents#ADMIN ABUSE BY PASTORDAVID!!!11 thread. =) ··coelacan 23:42, 13 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Would it be inappropriate to say thank God you got approved as an admin? I hope not. Even if it is, I believe that the idea of having an admin who is particularly sensitive and knowledgable about subjects relating to religion, like you, is something that cannot help but benefit wikipedia. Also, for what it's worth, the request for mediation didn't go through because the one party whose behavior has seemingly been most problematic chose not to accept mediation. On that basis, and that party's repeated use of at least insulting if not defamatory language relating to anyone who disagrees with him, it has no gone to ArbCom. I dunno if anything will happen there either, but, given the party's having been blocked twice already for violations regarding this subject, I think the probability of some sort of reasonable response is likely. In any event, I greet news of your recent "elevation" as being maybe the best news regarding wikipedia I've seen in a long time. John Carter 16:21, 14 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]
From one David to another, congratulations and best wishes with your new tools. -- nae'blis 16:48, 14 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Tillykke Pastor, and best of luck. Valentinian T / C 17:00, 14 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]
Congratulations. Here are what pass for words of wisdom from the puppy:
  1. Remember you will always protect the wrong version.
  2. Remember you must always follow the rules, except for when you ignore them. You will always pick the wrong one to do. (See #5)
  3. Remember to assume good faith and not bite. Remember that when you are applying these principles most diligently, you are probably dealing with a troll.
  4. Use the block ability sparingly. Enjoy the insults you receive when you do block.
  5. Remember when you make these errors, someone will be more than happy to point them out to you in dazzling clarity and descriptive terminology.
  6. and finally, Remember to contact me if you ever need assistance, and I will do what I am able.

Congrats! What a fun little RfA to watch. I took the sacred cow out of my signature, just in case I get nominated for adminship. On the lighter side, I think you will make as diligent an admin as you are an editor, so best of luck to you Pastor. the_undertow talk 20:40, 15 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Can you block users? If so, could you please do something about User:XALHIx. Clerks. 18:57, 14 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Hahaha, I don't think our paths will cross too often on wikipedia, given I'm an atheist and principally edit various biology and science related articles, however an old school- and uni-buddy of mine is Alastair Haines and I'm sure you'll end up editing something together. cheers, Cas Liber | talk | contribs 05:12, 15 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]
