Welcome[edit]

Hello, Pathh! Welcome to Wikipedia. Thank you for your contributions. I hope you like the place and decide to stay. If you are stuck, and looking for help, please come to the Wikipedia Boot Camp, where experienced Wikipedians can answer any queries you have! Or, you can just type {{helpme}} on your user page, and someone will show up shortly to answer your questions. Here are a few good links for newcomers:

I hope you enjoy editing here and being a Wikipedian! By the way, you can sign your name on talk pages and vote pages using four tildes, like this ~~~~. When you save the page, the tildes will expand into your name and the date. You should always sign talk pages, but not articles. If you have any questions, please see the help pages, add a question to the village pump, or ask me on my talk page. Once again, welcome! AnnH 13:38, 24 March 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Speedy deletion of Life Technologies[edit]

A tag has been placed on Life Technologies, requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section G11 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the article seems to be blatant advertising which only promotes a company, product, group, service or person and would need to be fundamentally rewritten in order to become an encyclopedia article. Please read the guidelines on spam as well as Wikipedia:FAQ/Business for more information.

If you think that this notice was placed here in error, you may contest the deletion by adding {{hangon}} to the top of the page that has been nominated for deletion (just below the existing speedy deletion or "db" tag), coupled with adding a note on the talk page explaining your position, but be aware that once tagged for speedy deletion, if the article meets the criterion it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but don't hesitate to add information to the article that would would render it more in conformance with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. Lastly, please note that if the article does get deleted, you can contact one of these admins to request that a copy be emailed to you. TallNapoleon (talk) 08:31, 24 November 2008 (UTC)[reply]

prod[edit]

Proposed deletion of Life Technologies[edit]

The article Life Technologies has been proposed for deletion because of the following concern:

The entire content of this article is a huge quote from a press release, and another small paragraph that appears to be about a completely different company.

While all contributions to Wikipedia are appreciated, content or articles may be deleted for any of several reasons.

You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{dated prod}} notice, but please explain why in your edit summary or on the article's talk page.

Please consider improving the article to address the issues raised. Removing {{dated prod}} will stop the Proposed Deletion process, but other deletion processes exist. The Speedy Deletion process can result in deletion without discussion, and Articles for Deletion allows discussion to reach consensus for deletion. Please be careful not to base a stub on press releases[edit]

Hi Pathh! Thank you for your contributions to Wikipedia.

I know you meant well, but here is one suggestion for the future. Please don't create stubs, like the Life Technologies stub you created, based on press releases.

I suspect that this encouraged paid editors to turn the page into the disaster visible here over the next few years. "It doesn't matter," they may have thought. "The page already reads like a press release. Clearly, it's okay to add PR speak to Wikipedia articles. I'll go ahead and add some more."

Instead, please write company stubs in your own words; also, preferably, link to major third-party sources like The New York Times, BusinessWeek, or Nature in the "References" or "Further reading" section.

I have fixed the disaster by trimming it down very heavily now. You may watchlist it if you like.

Cheers! —Unforgettableid (talk) 00:13, 26 December 2013 (UTC)[reply]

April 2018[edit]

Information icon Hello, I'm Stwalkerster. I noticed that you made an edit concerning content related to a living (or recently deceased) person on Gabriel Dover, but you didn't support your changes with a citation to a reliable source, so I removed it. Wikipedia has a very strict policy concerning how we write about living people, so please help us keep such articles accurate and clear. If you think I made a mistake, or if you have any questions, you can leave me a message on my talk page. Thank you! [stwalkerster|talk] 22:30, 18 April 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Problem with your custom signature[edit]

You have a custom signature set in your account preferences. A change to Wikipedia's software has made your current custom signature incompatible with the software.

The problem: Your preferences are set to interpret your custom signature as wikitext. However, your current custom signature does not contain any wikitext.

The solutions: You can reset your signature to the default, or you can fix your signature.

Solution 1: Reset your signature to the default:
  1. Find the signature section in the first tab of Special:Preferences.
  2. Uncheck the box (☑︎→☐) that says "Treat the above as wiki markup."
  3. Remove anything in the Signature: text box. (It might already be empty.)
  4. Click the blue "Save" button at the bottom of the page. (The red "Restore all default settings" button will reset all of your preference settings, not just the signature.)
Solution 2: Fix your custom signature:
  1. Find the signature section in the first tab of Special:Preferences.
  2. Uncheck the box (☑︎→☐) that says "Treat the above as wiki markup."
  3. Click the blue "Save" button at the bottom of the page.

More information about custom signatures is available at Wikipedia:Signatures#Customizing how everyone sees your signature. If you have followed these instructions and still want help, please leave a message at Wikipedia talk:Signatures. Thank you. 18:03, 7 September 2020 (UTC)
